I preordered first thing using the Apple Store app and paid using Apple Pay. At 10pm yesterday I checked Wallet.app and the charge was showing as declined. I rang the bank but they couldn't see any declined transactions. Order status changed from 'Processing' to 'Awaiting Payment' online. Tried to authorise again through Apple's website but it failed. Tried again with credit card with a different bank and that failed too. They too couldn't see any failed transactions to approve. I rang Apple this morning, gave them the exact same credit card and the payment went through fine. It looks like Apple had an issue with the payment details update form. Frustrating but at least it's sorted now and status is back to 'Processing'. Order date hasn't slipped from the 16th either.

I had this exact same issue last night. Ordered using the iPhone Store app with Apple Pay linked to my Lloyds debit card. Checked the order status last night and it said payment failed, so tried again and using different cards, no luck. So I called up about 8pm yesterday and when I got through the (very helpful) lady said she'd take my card details down from scratch again and it went through first time. She was very apologetic but had no real explanation. I can now see the payment in my pending transactions on Lloyds online banking and the order has moved to preparing for dispatch. At the moment my delivery date is still showing as 16th so fingers crossed.

Perhaps they have an issue with Apple Pay?

Ha, I just posted a near identical story. Definitely an issue with Apple Pay. Perhaps due to the transaction amount? The most I've put through Apple Pay is £100 up until yesterday, had no issues with that. Or more likely volume of transactions...

I can't understand how some people have had 8:02, 8:03 etc order confirmation emails, yet I was constantly refreshing the web store on Mac and reopening store app on iPad and iPhone and the store didn't come up at my end until approx 8:10. I could even see people saying their orders were going through on this thread but the store wasn't open on any of my apple devices.
The store came up on my iPad first and I already had my selection in my favourites so I added to basket and went to checkout, (I had already checked my credit card payment preferences were up to date and in order a few days previously) but the sale just hang at the payment confirmation stage with a spinning carousel wheel.
I refreshed the iPhone app and that had came up in the meantime, so after a minute of watching the spinning wheel on the iPad I decided to push through the order on the phone instead, so added my selection in favourites to the basket. On the phone the Apple Pay button was prominently highlighted so I clicked that, only to be presented with the apple pay failure screen. It had red error messages for confirmed delivery address, payment details address and something else. I didn't have time to get stuck in entering all these details which clearly haven't changed from previous times that I have used apple pay, so went back and clicked credit card payment instead, and it went through, hurray! Unfortunately the delivery time estimate on the Jet Black 7 Plus 256 that I had ordered had slipped back to 4th-10th October, and the Matte Black 7 Plus 256 had slipped back to 27-29 Sept. My order confirmation email came through timed at 8:14. Pretty fed up with this to be honest, I was online refreshing from before 7:30am and constantly refreshing from 8:00 am and I still didn't get the earliest delivery slots. My orders are still in Processing status and the dates haven't changed.

So the actual order process for me was not great, and lately the delivery process hasn't been perfect so I am expecting further frustration to come. For the last two phone launches I have had false despatch emails sent out early be apple, and with the Watch launch my one went missing in the Croydon UPS warehouse and I had to wait a month for a replacement :( I'd rather buy instore but they don't make it easy :(

Anyway, sorry to moan, fingers crossed the new phone is a good one :)

Just phoning apple now to confirm the status of my pick up in store order, as no charge currently and was apple pay, so want to confirm went through okay.

If you have an Apple Store near you , you can just take it into the store and get a refund.... saves sending it through the post

I tried to return an iPhone I purchased thru Apple website at an Apple store and they refused to process the return - insisting that items purchased via the apple website cannot be returned to an apple store. ridiculous.

I think the JB iPhone 7 takes a lot longer to manufacture due to its "anodisation" process as Jonny Ive put it.

The space black goes through a similar dye also but not as much as the JB ones.

The other 3 colours are simple and it seems that they will be plentyful.

I reckon mid Oct early Nov the black and JB will have caught up with demand and there will be plenty of walk in stock for those.

Just count yourselves lucky getting the JB and Black iphone 6 pluses early!

Yep thats the process they follow, if you order online no store returns.

Its crap really as you have to ring Apple for a RMA number and then pack it up etc and hand it to a courier and track to check its been returned.

Ive had to do that before. Thats why i do prefer to order in store but at launch times its not always possible.

I just hope the JB and Blacks dont have any issues out of the box like the iPhone 5 had chips etc.

Do you pay for it when you collect it in the store?

No. I know it's a lot of pages but read back about 5 or 6 pages. Me and someone else have worked it out.

Basically, I have reserved it but it's still an order, instead of getting it shipped to my house, it's getting shipped to my local Apple Store instead. That's why I was asked for my payment details. It's the same process. All I do is turn up and Friday and collect the phone!

It used to be that way, but it has changed now.

I bought a MacBook for my father a few months back and I ordered the wrong colour... I tried to cancel it before it was dispatched, but it was too far along to cancel ... I spoke to Apple and confirmed I could return it to a physical Apple Store. The Mac was delivered and within 1 hour I was walking out of the Apple Store with a different colour... absolutely not questions or issues.

If you look at the return policy on the website it does say you can return it to any Apple store

Just spoke to Apple about my in store pick up order, they have confirmed everything is as it should be and i will be getting it Friday 16th. Money will be taken Tuesday / Wednesday.

Long time follower, first time poster

My iPhone 7 32Gb black order from Apple went through flawlessly yesterday morning at around 08:07 via the app. Payed using ApplePay linked to me Nationwide debit card with no issues at all.

Order also preparing for shipment here and the serial number now also showing in my Apple Support profile.

wasn't the case last year as I had to post my 6s+ back as the local apple store wouldn't accept it.. great if its changed

That was exactly my issue too hence having to call Apple to update the payment details!

My phone has now gone to preparing for dispatch and my case is still at processing! :D

I don't think you can.

If you buy it online, you have to return online.
Since October 2015 you now can.

The reason you couldn't before was because of Apple's dodgy tax flipping arrangement it was problematic to return online items in store because Apple Retail UK Ltd and Apple Distribution International are separate companies.

Their cunning accountants have clearly wriggled around this now! :)

re very.co.uk
sim free unlocked?
Hi bought iPhone 5s from very.co.uk, put my EE sim card in, working great, then decided to have iPhone 6 so gave iphone 5s to daughter she put in her sim card in on 3 and got sim not valid not supported under activation service? very .co.uk told me their iphones are purchased direct from the Apple store unlocked ? Any ideas as to what is going on I thought unlocked ment unlocked to any uk network as stated on the very .co.uk website. Any help much appreciated

The only source for unlocked phones in the UK is directly from Apple. All others will lock to the first carrier used.

taken from Apple discussions forum

I bought my 6S direct from apple unlocked. Changed from O2 to EE. Just checked my EE online account and noticed that my phone is locked to EE.

Called EE to complain that at no time was I informed that my phone would be locked.

Was told that putting an EE sim into my iPhone would lock it. I was told that I could pay to get it unlocked. Said I didn't want to pay for something that was there before EE locked it without my permission/knowledge. I was told that as I bought the sim only deal from an EE shop, I would have to go back to a shop to 'discuss' this and the online / telephone service are not able to help.

So BEWARE of EE locking phones!

Sorry, I call BS. There is something more to this story. Remember Apple are ultimately the lockers and unlockers of iPhones, doing so via their activation servers at the request of carriers and other authorised parties. Apple will not lock an IMEI issued by them as unlocked.

Is there any chance they'll deliver the iPhone's before the delivery date?
Apparently last year they had delivery problems too yet people were receiving it earlier than stated.

Haven't posted here since getting my 6+, but been reading every page of this thread getting excited about the 7+. Finally logged back in to have a moan about contract upgrades & CPW.

Does anybody know what's going on this year? You'd think that by the 9th iPhone release it wouldn't be this stressful & confusing. I placed an upgrade order through the Carphone Warehouse, their website was crashing so I rang up instead, by 8:20am I had placed my order for a silver 126gb plus on EE. Easy peasy.

Rang them back after lunch as I'd not had any confirmation, acknowledgement or receipt for the payment come through. Was told that they never send those out, despite getting one last time. Then I was called back in the early evening with a "as you're a loyal customer, we want to offer you a discount to upgrade to the new iPhone 7!" speech *hits head against wall*. I told the guy on the phone that I think I already have upgraded that same day, but if he could check my order had been placed that would be great and if he could apply the discount he was about to offer me I'd appreciate that too. He hung up. Tweeted @CPWtweets to ask what was going on, they asked me to DM my details to them and they'd look into it. No response after doing so. It's like they're intentionally trying to get me to put my face in a blender.

Going to try to forget and relax about it now, but those of you (all of you?) with a fancy Apple tracking system please send some good karma my way.

Hmm, my 6s plus and SE didn't lock to EE and I bought those both from Apple and my contract is with EE...

I've had a similar tale myself. Logged in earlier only to find the payment via Apple Pay had declined and there was no attempt from Halifax to contact me to confirm etc. Had to call through to Apple to have the card itself entered. If it declines again, hopefully they'll actually contact me this time!

It's very, very unlikely. I haven't heard of it happening. Apple keep a tight control on these devices and even if it arrives at your depot early, the courier is under strict instruction not to delivery it early.

I think s/he meant is there any chance of Apple beating the delivery estimate, not delivering before launch day.

And to that question - yes there is a chance. But nobody knows! :p

Yeah that's why I meant ;)
We'll just have to wait, I guess.

There's no way you bought a phone outright from Apple that is now locked to EE.

There has to be more to this story, as EE can't suddenly an iPhone, as Apple control the unlocking procedure.
