Dongle is the dumbest thing ever.

When I'm in the car or out playing pokemon go. How the hell do I charge my phone AND listen to my audiobook at the same time??

Wait for Apple to come out with 70 dollars multi-dongle like they did with rMB??

Can't innovate (dongle) my ass1

Question for those disappointed with the iPhone 7:

(I know it's not been released yet, but let's assume what we're seeing is basically what we're getting).

If Apple has a big upgrade ready for 2017, that isn't ready yet, would you rather they just kept the iPhone 6S for an extra year? Or do you think it's better there is an iPhone 6SS-type model released?

Want the specs from 7+ plus a 4:3 display with Pencil support and Swift Playground. Called iPhone 7 Pro.
This can really replace my iPad mini and does have the display size of my Kindle, which is better for typing than my 6+.

Anyway, hopefully the 7+ is waterproof like an Actioncam.

Regarding the dongle (which it appears is your main concern), Jobs was always a big proponent of removing ports/buttons. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that. Dongles were very much a thing in the Jobs era to assist in the transition away from certain ports. I doubt Jobs would have wanted to keep the headphone jack. I'm not a fan and not defending the decision, but it's a classic Apple/Jobs move.
I am ready for an iPhone without hardware buttons or extra ports, we now have Control Centre, Raise to Wake, Rest Finger (on the Touch ID sensor embedded on the screen in the future) to unlock, 3D Touch, gestures and Bluetooth. Guess a power button will remain forever though.

Here:
1. You go the mall and get a pair of Bluetooth headphones.
2. You don't buy the new iPhone because you don't like that it doesn't have a headphone jack.
3. You buy an Android or a Windows phone that has a headphone jack.

I truly hope that this answered your question.

Car = bluetooth as well as USB to lightning dongle (from your car manufacturer) - if you have a port in the car - if you do, it's charging and signalling in one.

Unless you're talking about a charging case, how are you playing pokemon go and charging at the same time? (on foot that is...if while driving, see point above). If walking, expect the charging cases to extend the lightning connector (hell, maybe they'll also break out a 3.5mm jack for you to patch into the lightning connector) :)

Physics is not on your side. Give it up.
Really? So, what part of physics says that, eg, 4 inch separation is sufficient but 3 inch separation is not sufficient? Is it physically impossible for the human brain to perceive an, eg, 5 ms time difference between left and right ear signal as a direction different from straight on but a 2 ms time difference will not be perceived as such. Physics only says the stereo effect will get less pronounced the closer the two speakers are. Physics doesn't say were the cut-off is.

I'm on the S-series upgrade cycle, so no matter what the 7 has, I'm not tempted. But I do want it to have as many improvements as possible so that when the 7S/8 comes out, it will have the potential (emphasis on potential) of being really awesome.

The lack of a headphone jack doesn't bother me the way it does other people, because I only ever use BT headphones. And I don't care for the size of the plus models, so I wouldn't get the benefit of the two camera system. But even if I did, a DSLR is my camera of choice for any photographs that really matter.

I am excited about the home button potential. And while I have (thankfully!) never needed waterproofing, that would be a welcome addition.

And I really couldn't care less about stereo speakers, because as a previous poster said, the effect would hardly be noticeable, if at all. To me, it's just more noise.

But I say, "Bring it on, Apple!" I want to be wowed in 2017!

I agree. The fewer buttons the better.

But I think we'll always need at least one physical button to force a shutdown/restart when things go haywire. Unless they can somehow enable a shake-to-reboot feature.

Sounds less and less likely we'll see fast charging and/or wireless charging
+1 for wireless charging. Me, I was hoping to see that two years ago (one of the leaked iPhone images made it look like the back cover may have had a charging coil...*sigh*). I want charging base stations scattered through my home and Apple putting up the infinity symbol for battery life on a slide (when in range of course). Oh, and of course I'd have one in my car. (godsend to parents - all the brats iPads can stay charged in the minivan and keep them quiet!) :)

I've been noticing this more and more, but in my experience it has solely been with cheap knockoff in-car chargers. I've never had an issue charing in a standard wall outlet with Apple's cable (or in my car with slightly more expensive equipment).
Oh, it works PERFECTLY if you buy several 30 dollar cables just to charge it and ignore that micro USB works just fine 100% of the time with all but the cheapest cables.

Sorry not going to argue the obvious anymore good luck
