Let's blow everything out of proportion. It happened with my 6s. It only because you know it's there you're all freaking out over it.
Obviously. People only have issues with something they know about. If you don't know that your phone just exploded, you wouldn't have an issue with your exploding phone, either.

The same can be said for crappy cars, poor grammar, slavery, just about anything. You only care if you know it exists.

I did 10 app updates last night and held my phone up to my ear. If I put my ear just in the right spot, while it's warm (doing the app updates), I can hear faint noises within. I wonder if that's the same issue. Heck, I wonder if my other phones did it and I just didn't hear it.
I pressed some buttons on my iPhone screen and held it up to my ear. After some odd beeps I heard human voices!!!

To be fair, Apple does beat their own drums with the bald guy talking about the extreme care and thought going into each and every curve on the phone yada yada. Apple deserves to be called out when someone forgot to apply that thought process. They make a big deal about how much attention to detail they pay... And they price their products appropriate to those expectations they set for themselves.

Exactly. So it's normal. I'll say it again, it happened on my 6s. It's nothing new. CPU's make noise. Shock horror!

I think this problem should be investigated. What if the CPU is cooking something inside causing the hiss? I'd be concerned if I were Apple.

Or people could just stop trying to find problems with things and create iGates out of them. Do people seriously have nothing better to do with their time?

I don't have an iPhone 7 or heard this hiss in person. But if it's even 50% as bad as that video, it's hardly an issue of people looking for an issue. That sounds horrible.

Let's get a video of an iPhone hissing when put near a Samsung phone. And then the Samsung bursts into flames and expires.

Yep, both my iP6 and iP7 make the exact same sound when pressed up against my ear. I never even noticed it with the iP6 in the past 2 years I've had it.

Could this be a reason that there were shortages of devices on launch day and part of the reasons not to report weekend sales this time?

Was Apple aware of such an issue before launch and in an effort to reduce future returns, less stock was made available until the issue is resolved and new replacement devices come online?

Oh behave. It's like coming into a conspiracy forum in here sometimes.

If I press the back side of my phone up to my ear, like an idiot, I too hear a faint high pitched sound. WTFC?!

I for one am loving my upgrade from a 6 to 7. And unless this is something that’s audible at more than about 18”, I’m not going to care.

Has anyone tried to record a video in a silent room and see if it picks up the hissing sound through the mic when you play the video?
Yes. See my previous posts about a page back. My 7+ hisses while loading a web page, but I have to press my ear to the Apple logo on the back to hear it. However when recording video and loading a page in the background, the hiss gets recorded in the audio as a high pitch whine.

I also get a whine in the video if I record my cat while simultaneously poking her.
