But I thought nobody wanted the one without the headphone jack and such a minor improvement over last year's specs????????? I don't understand all the orders.

It was expected. The real test will come after the yearly upgraders get their phones. If sales slow down by January, then we'll know. If not, that might be good for those of us waiting another 9 months for the iPhone 8.

This is so stupid - i don't understand what the logic is of buying a one-time FULL PAYMENT PHONE requires eligibility process.

WTF APPLE!!!???

SERIOUSLY!!! WHAT THE GOD D*** F****!!!!!

No, it doesn't make sense to us. I would like to know the reason and Apple's legal department probably knows the answer.
[doublepost=1473439908][/doublepost]
But just imagine the prestige of everyone knowing you have the limited edition.

Exactly. Otherwise, there's the risk of people saying that looks like my 6/6s.
[doublepost=1473440025][/doublepost]
Do people really think they're not going to get their iPhones until late October or November? They're just shipping estimates, and I bet most will end up changing by next week.

I have a feeling people won't have to wait until November, unless it's a Jet Black 7 Plus or something.
[doublepost=1473440104][/doublepost]
You mean constrained supply? :p

Most likely, with a "change" in supply coming.
[doublepost=1473440228][/doublepost]
Well, I was able to order my 256 GB 7+ in jet black about 10 minutes after midnight Pacific time and my ship date is Oct 17-31st. Must not have had many of those ready.

It's the only way of "standing out" in the 6/6s/7 family so of course a lot of people would gravitate toward that color.
[doublepost=1473440897][/doublepost]
I don't understand the rush for this for this phone, especially those on a 6S. No one will even notice you have the new phone. No apps will make use of the A10 yet and your sound quality from headphones is degraded, with no ability to charge at the same time (without paying extra). And you're getting a horrible home button that drains the battery each time its pressed with haptic feedback (aka vibration).

The 6S genuinely has more features, albeit not _quite_ as good a camera.

*Puzzled*

It's only the initial rush, a lot of upgraders fed up with the slowing performance of their iPhone 6/6 Plus. They don't believe or are not aware that the redesigned iPhone 8 could only be 9-12 months away. Yearly upgraders as well, there's probably enough of them to make any iPhone launch look good. The 6s had a great launch as well and it took people a while to get their hands on the rose gold models.

It's so weird to not get something you want because of impatience
Ah there's the ignorant sarcastic response I was hoping for!

Idc about waiting, but I'd have to pay an additional installment on my 6s. So it's not impatience as much as it's me not wanting to pay more money than I have to. Since I'd still have to pay 12 installments on the 7 before upgrading, it'd be a waste.

so it looks like all of us on the Apple Upgrade program were screwed!!!! Apple Apple has already set-aside a certain number of each iPhone SKU for the program's purchasers, independent of stock for the larger pre-order program. Which means we didn't have access to the main inventory. sooooo not cool apple - not the way to treat people on your loyality program! http://appleinsider.com/articles/16...ants-complain-of-no-stock-scheduling-problems

Well. That escalated quickly. Soon as I got into the site it was sold out. Went to click on make a reservation and it took me to the damn US site!

First time bad experience pre ordering. They knew they didn't have enough units to begin with.

Joke.

Oh, were you expecting psychic abilities? Quit whining.
[doublepost=1473441870][/doublepost]The AOS didn't go live until 12:11am PST, and I was able to get my matte black 128gb iPhone 7 by 12:15am. Delivering the 16th. I had a feeling about the jet black being a risky choice.

I will not be in this queue!

Apple, inducing itself into a coma for this cycle; hope it can wake up! About 60% of their sales and profits are from this stupid version of iPhone!

Also known as, shooting oneself in their foot!

Well, the good news with the iPhone is that you can still take it in your car without the risk of your car blowing up or not allowed to take it on the plane. :)

I ordered the 128 gb 7, matte black from Apple's website at about 7 PT this morning. September 16 arrival. Is it just the jet black with the pinched supplies and slipping order times? What about other colors?

Apple appears to have plenty of 7s as even upgraders can still reserve to pick up a 7 in some places. The 7+ was extremely limited. That sold out (except for Rose Gold for some reason) in under a minute.

anyone was able to get a 256GB 7 Plus Jet Black for Sept. 16th? when the Apple Store went online, it was already shipping in October for me! 12:04 AM!
Same for me. I just hit that back button and went with the regular black. I was on the fence between the two anyway and only being able to get one on launch day sealed the deal for me.

Its expected because buying a jet black/black is the only way to let people know you have the latest iPhone.In other respects its just a iPhone 6S SE

I prefer to call it iPhone 6 SS, jack-boots and all!

SE is for the 4" screen - eagerly waiting for its next Avatar!

this is just messed up. Because that didn't even give us a fair chance.

We are also making assumptions that sales will be tied to the presence or absence of a headphone jack. I personally think this is overblown.

It makes for great writing in the news sites that want clicks on their articles so they need to manufacture rage. Everyone who responds DOES plug in their headphones. I never do and of all the iPhone owners that I know and see in my group of friends - none have ever had headphones plugged into them.

This is overblown hype IMHO

Sales will be down in part due to the headphone jack. One survey of iPhone users alone suggests it could be as much as 20%. Based on the iPhone 6 pre-orders which sold out within a few minutes of Apple's website going live, and given that the 7 took over 20 minutes to start showing sell outs, suggests that there might not have been as much demand for the 7 already.

Yeah, I got 2 Rose Gold 7+ 128GB iPhones for Sep 16th delivery. The Black and Jet Black 7+ are both showing mid October. Good thing my kids liked a color that was easy to get.

I only talked to one person about the iPhone 7 so not much of a survey but he's not buying it because the headphone jack. Going to Galaxy.

so far, perhaps - this could have happened to any manufacturer, including Apple. And it has in the past - just google "iPhone on fire".

Now there's a great example of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Hes a huge music nut and doesn't want to be carrying an adapter around for his headphones.

The headphone adapter doesn't bother me too much but the iPhone 8 being next year most likely is causing me to not order.

You could also Google "Samsung phone explodes" and click on "Images" to see how many times it's happened to them. And there are a lot of them from cheap old feature phones through the entire Galaxy S-S7 range and all the Notes.

All devices with lithium batteries have a risk of catching fire or exploding. And they sometimes do for every company. That's not the same thing as having a whole bunch of only one model of phone explode within the first couple weeks of it being released. This is a whole order of magnitude worse, which is why a recall is needed in this case (and wasn't for all the previous cases, whether Apple or Samsung or someone else).

A "huge music nut" should welcome this. Prior to Apple removing the headphone jack external DACs were not very common, and usually bulky and pricey. Now Apple is selling one for $9. Audeze has 2 versions for their high-end headphones at $50 and $100. And you know the aftermarket accessory makers are going to be coming out with all sorts of options for people.

So instead of relying on the underpowered amplifiers inside smartphones he can now have a higher output (and higher quality) amplifier in the adaptor. Which will make his headphones (and music) sound even better than before. If I had a choice between OK sound from my iPhone and superior sound with a small adaptor, I'd choose the latter.

That or no inventory to start with...

It always has limited inventory at launch. This is nothing new pal. They will sell better than the 6s and a few million less than the 6. Been saying this since the first doom and gloom articles. Apple has nothing at all to worry about. I THOUGHT from the very beginning of the leaks this year that the majority of naysayers were MOST LIKELY just a marketing ploy by ______.

Is this the $9 DAC by Apple? Or do you mean there is an internal DAC that the lighting uses?
