anyone in the apple upgrade program that wanted to get an iphone 7 plus 128gb in jet black that could get one. I was able to get 5 minutes after the store open on my phone and there were no available in over 20 stores using both the site and app. I tried multiple times and it just told me to check on 9/17. Not happy apple.

Plenty of more important info outside besides "tech geeks" with hangnails about having to wait a few days for their new toy.

LOL did you create a new account just to say that? In what shape or form are people complaining about not being able to get the phone right away being jerks or *******? The only jerks are people that post stuff like this on the release day of an iPhone on a Apple forum site.

Actually jerks are the ones whining that they have to wait now for a freaking phone. The entitlement is unmatched by any standards.
 
The reservation system starts again next Saturday morning, so hopefully the wait won't be too long for IUP customers who have to reserve in store. But if it's anything like last year, Plus models (especially in the new colors) will be very scarce for a while in-store.
 
I'm not happy it happened to you, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who found that to be complete ********. I had no idea I had a "billing password" let alone what the hell it even is.

I found out after I called Verizon. It's not a BILLING PASSWORD. They require your 4-digit pin to log in right there. Why in the living hell did it say password?! I took a look this morning, and they changed it to 'Passcode'. Still, they need to put 4-digit billing code... That would have saved a lot of confusion. Anyone have an issue where they're unable to have their phone shipped to their home, and it's pick-up only? More ********.
 
Got the email confirmation from Apple to proceed with the purchase by using the reservation number and everything was working well until I received the passcode by txt msg and enter in the screen, then got the message that page was not found and I was no longer able to use the same txt code that I received....try to use multiple times and it locked for 60 minutes..Called My-Apple and still waiting the representative for 1 hour...anyone else in the same situation?
Me....except I can't even proceed with my reservation. Keeps saying this page cannot be found. Been on hold with Apple for 1 hour and 39 minutes now.

Apple screwed the existing Apple Upgrade Customers. We can't preorder online and there is no reservation waiting list available at the stores. All we can do is to check back on the 17th. This is not right. In my opinion they did it deliberately. That way you will make your September lease payment on your old Iphone and they will have to credit less towards the repayment of your old phone to Citizen's Bank. My payment is due on 9/25 (I was one of the first who got Apple Upgrade Program last year on the release day). Also if you are still unsuccessful in securing the new IPhone by October..., you will have to make one more payment to Citizen's Bank. Apple has no incentive to make it easier for the Customers who have Apple Upgrade Program in place. Keep making your payments and we will take your phone in November..... That's 3 additional $$$ payments that you will have to make under the old phone contract to Citizen's and 3 less for us to repay your old phone before we give you a new one.
 
Anyone else get screwed by the "we've reserved an iPhone for you" message? Right as preorders opened, I got the message that an iPhone was being reserved for me and that I can finish the transaction once I get an email. I thought this meant that I would keep my Sept 16 delivery, but NO. THERE WAS NO IPHONE HELD FOR ME. I clicked the link to finish my order and it doesn't even work, it's not even the right model I selected. I now have to wait until Oct 4 :( Lost all that sleep for nothing

Well, I was able to order my 256 GB 7+ in jet black about 10 minutes after midnight Pacific time and my ship date is Oct 17-31st. Must not have had many of those ready.
 
It could be calculated for all we know. Having all the units ready for launch and missing sales figures would be detrimental. Not having enough supply is sometimes a good thing when it's calculated and they are sure won't hurt the bottom dollar. Not many companies are the position to do that though, Apple is certainly one of them.

I agree with you. But i was replying to a post that said the poor availability was "proof" the people saying the phone wasn't much of an update were wrong.

Now I LOVE Apple and own a ton of their stuff but if you check their manufacturing orders about 8-12 weeks ago, they ordered less than usual for the IP7 to help 'massage' the news about selling out so quickly. Very smart move by them that will go unnoticed by a majority of the world.
 
First time I haven't pre-ordered, and I'm glad I didn't. Wish others would back up their anger with action (or lack of action by not pre-ordering) to show Apple that we won't put up with this crap. The fact I can't pay full price for an "unlocked" phone without providing carrier account info is horsesh!t. I'm not going to buy a deliberately dumbed down phone on AT&T when for the same price I can get the extra CDMA bands as well (in case of moving carriers and for re-sell value).

Looking forward to the MacRumors article in X weeks when Apple finally gets their head out of their @$$ and makes the SIM free version available, as it should've been from day one.

I think it has to do more with the carriers and keeping the iPhone on the main 4 as well as in the U.S. for the first few weeks.

There's no such thing as "extra CDMA bands".

Both models support the exact same LTE bands. One also happens to support CDMA.

I can count on one hand the number of times my 6s couldn't get LTE and went down to "3G" on Verizon and was actually usable in any way. Plus no data and voice. You're not missing anything.
 
The annoying part is you couldn't reserve anything out of stock, like even to get on a waiting list. I settled for the 7 when I wanted the + bc I don't want to make an extra installment payment on my 6s and wait a month to get the plus. If I just knew I could get a black + in September I would've waited but there's no way of knowing with the in store reservations.
It's so weird to not get something you want because of impatience
 
I ordered the 128 gb 7, matte black from Apple's website at about 7 PT this morning. September 16 arrival. Is it just the jet black with the pinched supplies and slipping order times? What about other colors?
 
Dwindling supply is just a scheme to get more people to buy. Just pre-order and it'll magically show up early.
 
Must have been one of the first ones to order for pick-up on September 16 here in Switzerland (reservation server was down for about 45 minutes). As far as I can tell, there has never been any stock of Jet Black or normal black 7+ here. They also weren't available through the online shop. Ended up ordering a silver one to pick up next Friday. Not the color I wanted, but to be honest it doesn't bother me that much. Wouldn't have gone for the Jet Black anyway as I'm somewhat OCD when it comes to scratches on my toys. I also placed an order for a plain black one at a local shop - that one was just a shot in the dark, perhaps I have more luck there.

this is totally true. I was one of the first that got the 6s rose gold on release day 9/25 and it was super complicated. I wanted to see if it was only I or everyone had this issue who are on the upgrade program. my brother who isn't on the program manage to get his no problem. He was new to sign to the program. I was very tempted to select new instead of existing and having them corrected when I went to pick it up.
 
Do people really think they're not going to get their iPhones until late October or November? They're just shipping estimates, and I bet most will end up changing by next week.
