it's not a supply issue, it's an earnings issue. they are only releasing enough to guarantee making earnings guidance. once that's accomplished, they push out orders to next quarter. revenue is recognized when shipped and the quarter ends Sept 24. and now you know.

YES!!!!! My friend just told me that he ordered an iPhone 6s but shipped earlier and he got an iPhone 6s THE FIRST FRIDAY! and the same thing happened on APPLE WATCH in 2015, many order got delivered EARLIER! LET MIRACLE HAPPENED

I am hoping for a miracle (Oct 18-Oct 31 delivery date)

it took me way too long to switch the shipping adress to my work adress. but luckily it still said 16th at the end.

black 128GB

This is true. I fell asleep and didn't wake up until like an hour and a half after Apple Watch pre-orders began last year. It stated my Apple Watch was supposed to be delivered a month or two late, ended up getting it on launch day delivered to the pad.

Going to wait this one out and see what happens, but also going to see if I can snag one on launch day. If so, I'll cancel the online order.
Yep. At Sep 16 I will go to my local Apple Store and hands on the iPhone 7. But did you mean you wanna purchase one in store on sep 16? It might not working because the online order "Store Pick-up" options are already "unavailable for pickup", so they might not have enough iPhone 7s available. Good luck man!

ATT website won't take my order, been trying since 3:03 eastern. Every time i hit submit order it goes to the top of the page like there is something I forgot to check-but there isn't. Im either getting 500 of them or 0 from hitting the submit button for an hour!

Well it went through-iphone 7 jet black 128 gb ships Oct 14-21

yep...the black and jet black were never available for people in the upgrade program.

I'm in the upgrade program and I got a jet black 128. I have to drive an hour to pick it up, but that's not too bad considering ship dates have already moved to november according to some posters.

Got to order T-Mobile over the phone as an existing customer and all set for delivery on the 16th.

Anyone trying to do a 2 year contract with AT&T and getting the off contract price? All the other phones seem to be discounted properly.

That or no inventory to start with...

It's a supply side bottleneck, Apple said so themselves. Apple admitted the first week of sales will not be a reflection of true demand because they expected to sellout because of limited supply.

Well, my wife will get her Rose Gold 7 128Gb on the 16th, while my black 7 Plus 128 will be 2-3 weeks...

Almost exactly the same - jet black 7 for me Oct 4-10.. wife's gold 7 on the 16th. got hung-up on payment using app, (app came up for me before webstore did), had started wife's on web which came up 2nd. Ended up having to cancel out on mine and redo after hers on web.

Pre-order supplies of the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus are starting to dwindle, with several of the new iPhone models now displaying shipping estimates ranging into November. Pre-orders began at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday, September 9, and it took less than 20 minutes for supplies of popular models to begin selling out.

Models in the new Black and Jet Black colors are the most heavily affected in the United States. Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus devices were initially quoted delivery times of late September and orders placed now won't ship until November, while the Black iPhone 7 Plus lists shipping estimates of two to three weeks.

Jet Black iPhone 7 models ship in two to three weeks, while Black iPhone 7 models ship in one to two weeks. Supplies of other colors are better, but may dwindle as the day goes on. At this rate, customers who wait to pre-order a Black or Jet Black iPhone will need to wait several weeks.

Shipping estimates in Apple's online stores for other countries such as the UK, Australia, and France are also starting to dwindle, with many Jet Black models also listed as shipping in two to three weeks.

Though pre-order supplies of some models of the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus are beginning to sell out, it may still be possible to get an iPhone on launch day by visiting an Apple retail location on Friday, September 16.

Yesterday morning, Apple warned that iPhone 7 and 7 Plus supplies could be constrained in an announcement stating pre-order sales statistics would not be shared. According to Apple, early iPhone 7 sales will be dictated by supply, not demand.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus come in 32, 128, and 256GB configurations, with five color options: Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, Black, and Jet Black. In the United States, iPhone 7 pricing starts at $649 for the 32GB model. The 128 and 256GB models are priced at $749 and $849, respectively. iPhone 7 Plus starts at $769 for the 32GB model. The 128GB and 256GB models are priced at $869 and $969.

But I thought nobody wanted the one without the headphone jack and such a minor improvement over last year's specs????????? I don't understand all the orders.

A lot of the sales are resellers. Some ebayers hoping for a shortage to mark up the price. Others are sent to other countries where they are worth almost double the price.

Last years 6s was pushed a couple weeks to month but I was able to do a walk in on launch day without an hassle and out the door in less than 5 mins with a iPhone.

Wow... I think they really pulled a fast one by doing a 16th launch. It seems like they don't have the quantity to support the launch. Both the Apple Watch 2 Stainless Steel black and 2 iPhone 7 Plus 256gb (jet black) that I ordered at 10mins after midnight will not ship till sept 26th-28th accounting to the estimates. I hope the times get updated! Its a bummer :( Im starting to think the 23rd was the real launch window. I have ordered the iPhone every year and this is possibly the first year I won't get it day one. Even with ordering in the first 10-15mins.

You imply that Apple is too greedy and stupid to actually want to take people's money today, instead, building up a false narrative of shortages and constraints with an eye to actively delaying sales. The truth is that there are in fact shortages and constraints, hence demand exceeds supply, especially for the Jet Black models. This has happened every frickin year, and Apple's part of that "hype" is that they give you a two hour release of new products. The rest is media and individuals, and this year, the media meme was that few were interested in the iPhone 7, because bland or something, and most tech savvy individuals went along with that.

Evidently, consumers disagree with the pundits, and I'd argue they are preordering in massive numbers, as always. Apple will not be publishing figures, so you'll have to rely on 3rd parties to figure out sales.

Here's a metric regarding "hype"

See - the point about people watching the keynote is an interesting one. Don't assume people were watching it JUST because they were so excited about the new release. I haven't watched many keynotes live in quite a while, BUT I made a point of watching this one - because I wanted to see if Apple would pull some surprises out of the hat, and that all the rumours leading up to the event were not true. But it was exactly as forecast, and I guess in a morbid kind of way, the sort of disappointment I was hoping to see. I even hoped they might sneak some announcements in about long overdue Mac hardware.. but of course, there was nothing. So yeah - I watched it expecting to be disappointed, but hoping for Apple to surprise us all. And they didn't. They were as predictable as ever.

We'll wait and see on sales figures eventually - even if that has to come in a sales / earnings call or something for investors. But I just don't believe the 7/7+ is going to be a big deal. At all.
