so question ...... i am on AT&T but since they were all out of the one (jet black) I want (in like 5 minutes) I reserved a t-mobile model. And i am with the apple upgrade program so the phone comes unlocked. will I have problem using it? I'm in US

You should be good. I ordered a T-Mobile model and will activate it on Cricket (owned by AT&T). Did the same for my iPhone 6 without any problems.

I have hope. I believe this happened for the rose gold last year. So I have faith. Definitely not canceling my order . Orders slipped all the for November already.
YES!!!!! My friend just told me that he ordered an iPhone 6s but shipped earlier and he got an iPhone 6s THE FIRST FRIDAY! and the same thing happened on APPLE WATCH in 2015, many order got delivered EARLIER! LET MIRACLE HAPPENED

This is so stupid - i don't understand what the logic is of buying a one-time FULL PAYMENT PHONE requires eligibility process.

WTF APPLE!!!???

SERIOUSLY!!! WHAT THE GOD D*** F****!!!!!
Its only reason for existence is so that the carriers can charge you an upgrade fee.

I'd be pissed. I wonder when they plan on offering all the colors to upgrade program customers. They say you can upgrade every 12 months but they don't tell you that you won't get all the color options right away. Meanwhile they have no problem selling me the Jet Black 7 Plus to get me started up on the upgrade program.
Yeah now I'll prob be a month of the 12month cycle so I'll have to wait a month after the iPhone 8 comes out... I have always done the preorder and gotten the phone I wanted on the first day. I really regret the iPhone upgrade program. Apple made it seem like it's designed for Apple iPhone users who love to upgrade every year but in reality we are getting the shortest end of an already short stick.

Did anyone have any success with the Upgrade Program in the UK? The link for making a reservation was broken (directed to the US Apple home page) until about 8:40am, and as soon as it was up every store was sold out of 7 Plus except Rose Gold or Gold...

Insanely frustrating...

What a disaster. Last year was 10X smoother. I was done in 30 seconds last year. Took almost 45 minutes to confirm my reservation to upgrade via the IUP. Signing up for the IUP last year was so simple.

Regardless what happens, I could wait a week or so , it's not like we got November dates !

With all due respect, creating hype / demand based on lack of inventory isn't exactly a new practice. You have no idea how many iPhones that Apple already had produced ready to go, nor what their rate of production is... so, before getting too excited, might be worth waiting to see what the sales figures are in a couple of months?

You imply that Apple is too greedy and stupid to actually want to take people's money today, instead, building up a false narrative of shortages and constraints with an eye to actively delaying sales. The truth is that there are in fact shortages and constraints, hence demand exceeds supply, especially for the Jet Black models. This has happened every frickin year, and Apple's part of that "hype" is that they give you a two hour release of new products. The rest is media and individuals, and this year, the media meme was that few were interested in the iPhone 7, because bland or something, and most tech savvy individuals went along with that.

Evidently, consumers disagree with the pundits, and I'd argue they are preordering in massive numbers, as always. Apple will not be publishing figures, so you'll have to rely on 3rd parties to figure out sales.

Here's a metric regarding "hype"

I tried to get a Verizon or Sprint iPhone 7 in jet black but it gave me the stupid eligibility requirement for both.

I'm on T-Mobile so I just settled for the T-Mobile version but it gave me a ship date of 2-3 weeks and delivery between October 4-10.

I have a trip next weekend but I might just try buying it either when I'm out of town or when I get back. Hopefully I can score a Sprint or Verizon version while I'm at it.

So my preorder experience started with the whole "can't connect to carrier" thing and I got a reservation number, but I then ended up ordering my phone, but I still have an open reservation (according to the reservation status page)... does that mean my ship date could move up according to when my original reservation was going to be? Such a mess

So confused and screwed. My last iPhone I decided to do the T mobile JUMP thing. Traded in my 6 for the 6S, got over $300 for it and joined Jump, thinking that I would get the next upgrade. I just called TMo and the guy says I still have a balance on the phone so I'm not allowed to pre-order and have to wait until the 16th to use JUMP on an in-stock model. So I have to hope a 256gig Jet Black is there. AND he said something about there may be a downpayment required if I do more than the lowest model but I thought the JUMP program gave me a parity model which would be the 256gig since it costs what my 128 did then. He wasn't sure about that so I hope he's wrong or that JUMP thing was a total waste.

Does anyone here know this JUMP program?

This is true. I fell asleep and didn't wake up until like an hour and a half after Apple Watch pre-orders began last year. It stated my Apple Watch was supposed to be delivered a month or two late, ended up getting it on launch day delivered to the pad.

Going to wait this one out and see what happens, but also going to see if I can snag one on launch day. If so, I'll cancel the online order.

Then there is the other side like me when I ordered the Apple Watch they pushed my delivery back 2 weeks. That was another horrible launch. The iPad Pro 12.9" was the easiest and smoothest preorder ever.

No problem. It will work

As long as you've made the equivalent of 12 payments, you can upgrade.

As for the short end of the stick, I agree. My buddy in Texas just started with the iPhone upgrade program. He can have it shipped to his house! Us already on it don't have that option. Apparently mailing your device back is an unknown concept.

No in-store pick ups for Apple Watch series 2 but at least shipping by September 30th! Ordered 2

Still great availability on Apple website here on the East coast. For Verizon phones, the only model that seems delayed is the 128 Jet Black.

Because you were the only person in the country that wanted it. lol

I did but it made me pay still.... did I do something wrong?

Not sure if this is just with the Upgrade Program but you should be able to reserve it in-store and pay in-store.

That's good news to me though if you were able to do that as Apple.com has 5% cashback (10% for those with the promo) through Discover :). Hopefully I can find a Jet Black soon and pay for it online.
