Yeah if it were me, I'd rinse everything out/off with clean water after being exposed to ocean water. That stuff can be quite potent over time.
I got a 500, 300, and a few 200g saltwater fish tanks @ my crib. Drop your phone in there for a minute, kiss your iPhone good bye, irregardless how much you clean it. You try reaching down to the bottom of a 500g tank and see how fast you get yours out. Lol

That's why I found it ironic that people are so OCD with the phone worrying about scratches but then might plan to go to the ocean with it. You want a nice design, you still cover it up with a case. You want water-resistance, you deep it in salt water which is harsh. You defeat the purpose each time.

A $40 Kyocera Hydro Air can do all that stuff like being frozen for hours and dipped in soda. That's the type of phone who bring to go to the beach and not worrying about being OCD if it got wet or damaged since it is only $40. Not $650-$950 that breeds OCD tendencies.

How were they able to charge underwater ? 7hrs at the moment lol
From the video summary:
** Update at ~6 hours 50 minutes: with only 14% battery life, we decided to try to plug the phone in. We allowed the bottom section of the phone to breach the surface long enough to displace the water with isopropyl alcohol and dry. We then plugged in the charging cable—with its tip covered in petroleum jelly to allow as little exposure to the water as possible. We submerged the device—and it's happily charging.

Lines are down this year because Apple announced that many models were sold out, and there was no stock of all 7+ models, or jet black 7" models in the stores at all. SO, SURE LINES WERE DOWN.

I think some of these line-counting idiots should realize there are more Apple stores in the metropolitan area now. Now there is an Apple store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn so, those people in outer boroughs don't have to come into Manhattan if they choose not to. Maybe customers are simply going to other Manhattan stores instead of the 5th Ave. store. It would probably be more comfortable to go to the Grand Central Terminal Apple store since it's indoors.
They were asking for phone numbers for people who were attempting to reserve a phone. For many of those who were just there to scalp the phones for sale overseas, it stopped them in their tracks.

I'm just glad these videos have white iPhone models rather than the scarcer black varieties! God forbid someone do torture tests (other than scratching perhaps) on jet black models during the first couple weeks. XD
I had a black iPhone coming to my house but then I realized I would never be satisfied with a black iPhone. I'm a silver iPhone person.

I'm actually kinda impressed with the iFixit test. Theoretically you could drop your phone into the sink or toilet, pass out drunk for a while, and wake up to find a still-operable phone?

That's the problem with these wimpy tests.

They totally ignored the REAL iPhone killers: toilets full of corrosive pee :D

Still not sure why people even bother with drop tests these days either. We all know what will happen to delicate things i.e. Glass when it is dropped. Stop wasting resources and give up on the 15 min of fame. They seem like such a big waste of time.

(most of) these videos aren't trying to paint the picture "iPhone aren't built well because look, i broke one"..

- the last couple of years, as a viewer, you're more likely to be: "holy crap, i definitely thought it would of been broken by now".. like - they don't unbox it then smash it with a sledgehammer straight away.. they also do things which you'll very likely do during the course of owning the phone.. many of which, you'll see the phone is likely to survive nowadays whereas it would of broken in the past.. so in those regards, these videos can be informative..

here's another one that's pretty informative:

I would show that it's sturdy, and say that its waterproof, but I would emphasize it's performance advantages. Lots of competitors phones have been waterproof for a while.

Every time I see this word in bold, I simply cannot...I have to correct it. I'm sorry.

It's regardless.

Most time, when Apple says WATERPROOF, it actually MEANS it.
Even when they don't say it (like for the 6s and especially the first gen Apple Watch), it usually is anyway.

Many claims done by the competition, including Samsung, seems almost to be scams : once they got your money it doesn't seem matter what happens and anyway, getting your money back is next to impossible (cause we don't stand behind our product). Samsung's customer service record is particularly woeful in general. In the "Note 7" case they had to act because of immense liability and PR damage they'd have if they didn't act.

If water doesn't get in, it can't really corrode anything and the spot were it did get in you likely can wash it out fast enough to keep damage to a minimum even if it was there a while. In fact, dropping it into a warm tank of distilled water for awhile would be the best way to clean out the phone of any salt.

People has swam in the ocean for 18 months with the supposedly not waterproof first series Apple Watch.

Who’s paying for these phones? Like the JerryRigEverything guy that supposedly purchaesd the iPhone 7, having purchaed 30-something various phones previously. Ceratinly ad revenue alone can’t justify this expense? Or am I underestimating what’s to be made by YouTubers?

Some YouTubers make 6 figures or more. Depends on popularity.
