Just walked out with my Jet Black iPhone 7 Apart from the initial hiccup with the inventory system (she just looked my name up manually) it went smoothly. No issues with Citizen's Bank that I can tell so far. We'll see what happens with my next credit card bill.

Anyway, an AP reporter wanted to talk to me as I left the store. I said no.

The enthusiasm that Apple captures with each iPhone release is impressive. I love seeing these pictures. These folks are getting something they want. Apple sells culture infused with technology. That's genius.

I have an iPhone 7 pre-order arriving today. I had my initial concerns about recycling the old design, but overall it looks like an outstanding phone for my needs. And the unrivaled performance and Apple's ongoing support for older devices should give this one some good legs.

Please re-read what I posted. Pay close attention to the "two days after pre-orders started" part.

Two days after pre-orders started, most models were still available for September 16th delivery.

If by "most models" you mean the iPhone 7 in rose gold with 32GB of storage. Every Plus model was back ordered within minutes of becoming available. The iPhone 7 with 32GB in (regular) Black was back ordered within a few hours. I did get my orders for a 128 GB 7 Plus in Black and a 32GB 7 in Black and when I looked 15 minutes later each new plus order had slipped to 2-3 weeks. I went to bed and when I got up in the morning new orders for the 32GB 7 in Black had slipped to 2-3 weeks.

Went to the Apple Store in Dubai today and they said they're launching tomorrow. Glad to see them adopting local customs with regards to being late to appointments.

I pre-ordered a Series 2 SS Watch within a few minutes of the online store going up but with delivery scheduled for end of the month I'm going to see if I can pick one up at the store tomorrow and cancel the pre-order.

Anyone have any luck picking up a SS watch on day 1?

My steel 42mm Series 2 watch was originally scheduled to show up between September 26th and September 28th.

However now it's scheduled for the 21st, since it went into ship prep yesterday afternoon (shipped this morning).

I'll start by pointing out that I do not post here much. My girlfriend and I have been participating in every launch day event starting since 2009. Some years we have pre-ordered but most we have waited in line for. This years launch is the most frustrating yet. We were camping in the mountains when pre-orders opened and planned on waiting in line as we have done many times this morning until learning that stores wouldn't have the 7 plus on launch day. Why did Apple change their distribution model? In the past Apple always made small quantities available to stores, even when pre-orders sold quickly. I just don't get this years launch.
I think the thing most people are forgetting is that Apple had problems at the factory and didn't really gear up production until middle or late August. Whether you believe that or choose to believe that Apple decided to throttle back production to either build interest or to just build Phones as needed depending on demand...right now the reality is there are not enough phones to meet demand..why people think they need it on the day of release ..
I figure this delay gives those of us who are not early adopters, the time to hear reviews and make sure the hardware is solid before buying..but I enjoy the excitement and so far really enjoy iOS 10 good job Apple!

Omg. I didn't specifically say black. I said most models which means in most storage sizes and in most colors Most models were still available other than jet black. I previously posted about it. Check my history. Every plus size was not backordered within minutes. That is categorically false.

Isn't this the idea the Apple Retail have now? A store to display and play with the products, and then you order online.
This was the mantra a few years ago with 6

I have to say so far I'm delighted with my iPhone 7 (black)

A few disappointing things with the whole package.

Why do the headphones not come in their own little case? I loved keeping mine tidy, now it will be wire knot every where I go as I don't think the cardboard will be able to withstand the test of time.

Finally, why are we not getting the same plug as we did with the watch in the UK.... so much neater.

Was there no room in the budget for those tiny things? We are talking £10 for the plug and ...30bob for the little box?

Not going to lie, it was hard to resist upgrading my 6 plus to a black 7 plus.

But I managed and I'm still alive :)

Fingers crossed next year will be worth the wait. Congrats to those who got their toys today!
Same boat as you. I have taken advantage of the 7 release timing and I have purchased a mint 6S 64gb for my wife for $350. She's had my old 5S for a few years... I agree, it was hard to hold off. If I hear more positive users reviews once the Bokeh update comes out (Photography is important to my wife) I might jump in...

I disagree with you. I am another user who was up at 2:45AM Eastern time waiting for the site to go live and the site and app on phone did not go up. When it did, as I was placing order it went from September 16th date to 2-3 weeks shipping on the 7 Plus model. I completed order around 3:10AM-3:15AM. I checked other models at that time and it was about the same.

Your words were "most," not some. I don't know where you got your math degree but less than 1/2 does not equal most.

Completely agree, although I do believe they should have postponed the launch by a couple weeks to allow production to catch up. The excitement is amazing, although it seems to be waning considerably from the iPhone 4 and 5 launches. I still question the decision to not stock plus models in store on launch, but in my case the decision has taken away my impulse to purchase and therefore may skip this one.

Be transparent, release the opening weekend sales figures, Apple!

Why do they have to, because you say so?

We know that:

They will sell a lot of them.

They probably didn't make enough, as they know that this is an in between version and not a MUST HAVE
There is market saturation and they planned conservatively and they got caught off guard by the SAMSUNG problem.
Another possibility of not being able to make as many as they wanted to could be is material issues and lead times.

They will make as many as they can sell.

Why collect info that is not essential to live?

Because up until week ago they used to. Apple are being totally opaque. And the mess up with deliveries this time round suggests some serious disorganization has occurred and as a shareholder, I want to know exactly what the heck is going on.
