Please re-read what I posted. Pay close attention to the "two days after pre-orders started" part.
Two days after pre-orders started, most models were still available for September 16th delivery.
Not surprising as Apple has telegraphed store quantities will be limited.Lines at my local Apple Store have been noticeably shorter today than in previous years.
Just gonna say it. Buying an iPhone 7 is incredibly stupid and short sighted.
I think the thing most people are forgetting is that Apple had problems at the factory and didn't really gear up production until middle or late August. Whether you believe that or choose to believe that Apple decided to throttle back production to either build interest or to just build Phones as needed depending on demand...right now the reality is there are not enough phones to meet demand..why people think they need it on the day of release ..I'll start by pointing out that I do not post here much. My girlfriend and I have been participating in every launch day event starting since 2009. Some years we have pre-ordered but most we have waited in line for. This years launch is the most frustrating yet. We were camping in the mountains when pre-orders opened and planned on waiting in line as we have done many times this morning until learning that stores wouldn't have the 7 plus on launch day. Why did Apple change their distribution model? In the past Apple always made small quantities available to stores, even when pre-orders sold quickly. I just don't get this years launch.
If by "most models" you mean the iPhone 7 in rose gold with 32GB of storage. Every Plus model was back ordered within minutes of becoming available. The iPhone 7 with 32GB in (regular) Black was back ordered within a few hours. I did get my orders for a 128 GB 7 Plus in Black and a 32GB 7 in Black and when I looked 15 minutes later each new plus order had slipped to 2-3 weeks. I went to bed and when I got up in the morning new orders for the 32GB 7 in Black had slipped to 2-3 weeks.
It's gonna be a long wait until September 2017![]()
Just gonna say it. Buying an iPhone 7 is incredibly stupid and short sighted. - In my opinion
Same boat as you. I have taken advantage of the 7 release timing and I have purchased a mint 6S 64gb for my wife for $350. She's had my old 5S for a few years... I agree, it was hard to hold off. If I hear more positive users reviews once the Bokeh update comes out (Photography is important to my wife) I might jump in...Not going to lie, it was hard to resist upgrading my 6 plus to a black 7 plus.
But I managed and I'm still alive
Fingers crossed next year will be worth the wait. Congrats to those who got their toys today!
Omg. I didn't specifically say black. I said most models which means in most storage sizes and in most colors Most models were still available other than jet black. I previously posted about it. Check my history. Every plus size was not backordered within minutes. That is categorically false.

I figure this delay gives those of us who are not early adopters, the time to hear reviews and make sure the hardware is solid before buying..but I enjoy the excitement and so far really enjoy iOS 10 good job Apple!
Be transparent, release the opening weekend sales figures, Apple!
Because up until week ago they used to. Apple are being totally opaque. And the mess up with deliveries this time round suggests some serious disorganization has occurred and as a shareholder, I want to know exactly what the heck is going on.Why do they have to, because you say so?
We know that:
They will sell a lot of them.
They probably didn't make enough, as they know that this is an in between version and not a MUST HAVE
There is market saturation and they planned conservatively and they got caught off guard by the SAMSUNG problem.
Another possibility of not being able to make as many as they wanted to could be is material issues and lead times.
They will make as many as they can sell.
Why collect info that is not essential to live?
