still getting a wrong zip code/social error through apple's store when trying to pre-order an at&t phone...

***** sigh, this is pathetic.

Odd. Mine went through just fine, even though I changed carriers to Verizon. My advice is just to reserve an in-store pickup for a fully paid model and see if they can take care of it in the store.
I wish I could. But even if I go that way, it still insists on me selecting my carrier. Then, it tells me that pickup is currently unavailable on all colors (it can see my zipcode). I could get one shipped in 2-3 weeks, except it won't let me ship since the PO Box is on my ATT record, which they are seeing (never mind that my Apple shipping address is not a PO Box).

I wonder if you have the problem I did - My Apple store profile has my home address, but the ATT bill goes to a PO Box. Apple won't ship to a PO Box, so it automatically told me I had to pick up at a store - only there was no availability left at any store in my area for any color.

Trying to use Apple upgrade for a 7 Plus, T-Mobile, 256, in Gold, but NO preorders are available for a 7 Plus with T-Mobile in NJ USA

Same problem here. No options at all in Southern NJ for 256 TMo Plus models. Checked every location near me once the pre-orders started at ~3a. Seems like it was never an option for us.

Got on through the app at 3:01 (on wifi and on the phones which were being upgraded) and first choice of 7+Jet Black in either was already a week out. My guess is they reserved them for retail. Anyway was able to snag a 7+ Black in 256 for me and 128 for my wife with delivery on 9/16 both using AT&T Next.

Did a little pre planning and made sure though AT&T last week both phones were paid off since using the Next program last year and didn't want to be presented with any issues at 3AM.

Not sure why this year they didn't allow you to go through the pre-approval process with the carriers (at least AT&T for me). Remember in the past you were able to do so and some wouldn't be having the issues this AM. At least for me the pre-approval process worked great using the Apple App in past.

I wonder how much the issues with Samsung and the Note 7 played into Apple perhaps moving up the release date and thus putting the carriers behind the 8 ball not only here in the US but the rest of the release day markets.

I just enrolled in the Apple Upgrade Plan today, but for future releases and to give the program another perk nobody else has, Apple should email their Upgrade Plan customers the day of the iPhone announcement and allow them to give advanced notice that they want to upgrade as long as they do so within 24 hours or something. Would take a lot of pressure off the servers on the pre-order date and get them a lot more customers using their plan. Just a (wishful) thought.

Will never happen. Apple already has IUP people locked in to revenue stream so there is no benefit to giving that perk. What Apple really wants is *new* customers, so if anything, look for subtle benefits going to them instead of existing customers...

Yes and no. They only have people locked in for 24 months. If people unhappy with the fact they couldn't reserve a phone today decide to just pay off their phone and get their new phones a different way, they can potentially lose a lot of customers. Enough to make a difference, I don't know, but they only have you locked til your phone is paid off.

I'm guessing maybe that they are forcing everyone to go though their respective carriers to cut down on phones hitting eBay for twice the price. People complain in the past about preventing this from happening so now there is a system perhaps in place and screws with the people who want a phone honestly. Wish Apple and the carriers could be a little more transparent if this is why they are doing it though but it's just my guess.

Hopefully our 7 and the Note 7 do not share the same battery.
Every time I see something about a fire I think do they have a 7?
A house up the street just caught fire and a suv elsewhere.

Question for anyone who may know.
I ordered 2 phones (7 and 7+) but registered the phone numbers in the reverse order. In other words I registered my wifes number for the 7+ and mine for the 7. She wants the 7 and I want the 7+. Will we be able to switch that upon activation? Thanks.

EDIT: We're with Sprint.

Did anyone have any success with the Upgrade Program in the UK? The link for making a reservation was broken (directed to the US Apple home page) until about 8:40am, and as soon as it was up every store was sold out of 7 Plus except Rose Gold or Gold...

Insanely frustrating...

Same here. I had the app open on my iPhone and the website open on my MacBook. The app got on first but when it came to the upgrade reservation it bumped me out to Safari. The reservation website then never loaded despite refreshing after each timeout.

The store on the website went live and I experienced the same problem as you; a redirect to the US store.

When I went back later I'm sure the location on the website for reservations had changed to a drop down banner thing than it was at first but I might be mistaken.

When it finally started working I had the same problem with nothing I wanted available. This was about 25-30 mins in and I knew I was screwed by then. I was just hoping that the reservations were screwed for everyone and that no one was able to reserve anything and therefore I'd stand an equal chance once I got into the store Long with everyone else.

I did notice on the reservation page it says to check back on launch day for appointments so maybe there's a glimmer of hope, but I'm not expecting much.

Annoyingly I had a jet black plus in my bag with the original shippping date of 23rd sept or whatever it was. I perhaps should have bought this but wanted to go down the upgrade route ideally.

Never mind. I've been lucky on other launch days and always thought there'd be a year where I'd miss out on the good luck.

Not sure how this stands for joining the program in say November. I know you can make overpayments but if my renewal date is always November I won't be able to get the upgrade deal on launch day? Not sure.

LOL! I click the link to buy an iPhone 7 and it says I need iOS 9 or higher to place my order on my iPhone 4.
Soooo I have to buy a new phone in order to buy a new phone. FAIL.
[doublepost=1473422816][/doublepost]And I notice on my iPhone 6 the store is acting weird and can't get app details or reset the search box to search again.

You may need to port the number to a flip phone and then hers to yours and then flipphone to hers.
There may be a fee.

I was really excited about the upgrade program coming to the UK, but having read through all the problems people are having in the US trying to actually do an upgrade it sounds like more trouble than it's worth. I just took the hit and ordered a 7 Plus Black 128GB off the website (only about £150 more expensive in the long run), but unfortunately didn't make this decision until about 8:40am so am looking at 4-10 October, but hopefully that will come forward a bit.

Only took me about 5 minutes to order after the store opened at 3:08 my time. iPhone 7 Plus 128GB Gold delivered on 9-16.

I just ordered through the AT&T app (5:40am PST), 7 Black 128gb and 7+ Rose Gold 128, and AT&T tells me they'll both be here on 9/16. Not sure if I believe them, though, especially for the Plus.

They should be able to handle that at Sprint if Apple can't change it at their end. Otherwise just swap SIM cards.

ordered a 7 128 jet black from verizon's website moments after it went live and got October 5th.

I wonder what will be the major flaw the first batch could have? Each full "redesign year" seems to have those. Okay, the 7 is more a 6S(S)/6SE, but flaws are bound to happen no matter if you're Sony, Microsoft, LG, Samsung, Intel, etc.

I tried to just outright buy a Verizon iphone last night from Apple Store last night and failed.

I'm on cricket, so I simply wanted a full priced (no trade in deals needed, thanks) unlocked iphone 7 plus on release day. Without a Verizon account, I wasn't able to place the order, even from apple.com. Which was a surprise. I didn't want the GSM-only Tmobile model.

So, I pre-ordered one to pick up at Target on release day. No credit card was collected, just contact info.

Should I expect that when I walk into Target, they are going to play the same game, need Verizon phone number and account info to activate it on Verizon for me before they will let me buy this stupid phone?

Thanks. Never saw such a hard way to spend $900.

Was wondering the same

I'm paying full price for my phone. Unlocked from Verizon. Why is the Apple site requiring me to log in with my Verizon credentials. I'm on a shared plan and don't have the credentials. This hasn't happened on previous preorders. Any way past this?

Every single year I wake up at 2:55 AM EST and furiously reload the store from no less than 3 machines until inevitably find myself blocked by virtue of not having a "personal carrier plan." My Verizon BUSINESS ACCOUNT essentially cockblocks Apple from my nine hundred dollar purchase and every year I continue to do this charade only to end up at work on another Friday morning with no sleep no phone reservation and paying some scumbag a $200+ premium on ebay for an activated Verizon Phone.

Can someone explain why Apple without fail continues to block prospective full price purchases of their new flagship phone every year?

Why do I have to wait 3+ months to finally be granted the ability to buy an unlocked carrier free issued Plus Model?

I'm curious.

Let's say a prospective customer saw the keynote on wednesday after waking from a 9yr coma.

He wakes up and on his hi-definition hospital television he's watching the apple Keynote (I don't know why but every room is full equipped with apple tv's and a sling TV skinny bundle or some ****...)
HUMOR ME!!)

This poor bastard's head is exploding for 2 hours and when it's all done Schiller announces pre-orders beginning on Friday 12:01 AM PST.

After taking back power of attorney his first order of business is to allocate one thousand bucks from the settlement money he got from the class action suit and prepares to buy this miracle machine supercomputer dude is on full tilt for pre-order...

Finally it's Friday morning 3 AM his time and after 7 mins of nervous reloading on his hospital issue macbook1 he finally gets the store to load and not 3 steps in to the pre-order process he realizes that he is literally BARRED FROM PURCHASE as he's no prior carrier relationship?

This dude spent the last 9yrs in a coma awakes to find himself in a fantasy world where he can carry around the entire internet in his pocket and sorry buddy Apple won't take his money or his business.

I'd like someone to explain to this man in his Apple Hospital why he's not allowed to pre-order a ****ing iPhone from the manufacturers ****ing retail website.

Hey Angie, did Burberry hate money too?

Did you have to buy a license to rock one of those badass burberry rain coats?
