I notice it on all iPhones when new. Maybe a calibration thing? 100-95% and the last 1% keeps going longer than anything in between.

Logged out of iCloud this morning and could make it through the whole day, from 0900 till 2100. Stil have 84 percent left. With iCloud logged in I would have had a dead phone by now.

Here is my results today on my 128 GB Matte Black iPhone 7 Plus.

So what's iCloud doing during the day?

Nothing; I disabled every function iCloud has to offer. I have absolutely no Idea. I made a new iCloud account and put the exact same files, contacts and calendars on there; issue is not there. Overnight it drains 2-3 percent instead of 7 and at the end of the day I still have more than 70% left instead of having to charge it.

This is interesting .. your saying a different iCloud account set up the same as your previous account on the phone reduced standby drain?

in genereal i´m happy now with my battery. but even setting it up as new i loose 9% over night in Airplane mode. Then after switching off airplane mode i loose around 10% while reading some mails and safari. Then it´s stabil with 2% per hour ...
This is crazy... I've charged mine and at 100% left in airplane mode, it retains it.

Even now it's at 100% after five rounds in candy crush (off airplane on wifi).

First few days didn't represent my personal normal use, this is where I am at more or less. No complaints. Better battery life than I was getting with my 6S.

How do you have such amazing stats? you were on wifi all day long?

Almost 11 hours usage with only 12 hours odd standby should be achievable on a 7 plus. Certainly mainly over wifi rather than mobile data.

If I used my iPhone 7 for 90% of the time it was switched on I'd easily get 9 hours + usage out of the smaller battery in the 7.

Yes and my battery now easily lasts two days of light usage instead of having to charge it at night and somewhere in the day. All I did was create a new iCloud account.

Your lucky, I tried logging out of iCloud completely but it made no difference .. still getting 2% battery drain per hour on standby.

Absolutely no idea why .. no apps appear to be draining the battery and my old iPhone 5s which is set up exactly the same also running iOS 10.1 has hardly any standby drain even though the battery has 29% wear

3 words - low power mode

Genius told me just to turn it on at 100%, now I have no battery issues with my 7 and can get through the day

The only thing I notice is I have to wait a few seconds to pull down emails when I open the client, but other than that, all my notifications and uses are still being met

Throttling a new device =/= a solution.

Low Power Mode reduces or turns off these features:
  • Email fetch
  • Hey Siri
  • Background app refresh
  • Automatic downloads
  • Some visual effects
This should never be a "solution."

When you get a new phone you usually download a bunch of apps and test a lot of features. These aren't things to really gauge normal use. Low Power mode is a nice feature if you're in a pinch and running low on power but shouldn't be necessary.

I am getting between 9-10 hours of normal usage according to the settings. This is pretty much all screen use. Better than I've ever gotten with the 6S.

iPhone 7 (4.7) had about 2 weeks, drained battery completely a couple of times out of the box as I always do. Brightness at approx 50%, fetch mail off, location services limited to a handful of apps, Low Power Mode on at 20% remaining. Probably around 50 % of time on variable 3G signal and 50% wifi.
Reasonably happy but would like to break the 12 hours screen time mark.

That's great but you do realize the usage time isn't all screen on time right?

I wish apple would add screen on time above or below the total usage.

I get about 8-9 hours usage on my 7 compared to 6-7 hours on my iPhone 6 with my usage habits. On my 6 I used to have to charge in the early evening almost every night but now when I go to bed I am just hitting 20% or 10%. So I'm a happy camper!

The thing about the 7 is screen off time has been dramatically improved. I can listen to two hours of a podcast (screen off) and the percents barely budge. Using the phone with the screen on is better too but if you are outside and the brightness is at the max it drains about the same as the 6 and 6S.

They do display on screen time.

No total on screen time for the last 24 hours. It's only by app per app basis and it's constantly changing every hour that goes by. I just want a simple one that shows the total onscreen time combined from all apps over a full charge.

So far, I am pleased with the battery on my iPhone 7 with 128gb storage. Example would be that yesterday I was up at 2:30 a.m., and when I went to bed at 9 pm, there was still 59% of battery left. I was impressed with that as I had lower expectations based on other comments I had been been reading prior to my purchase several days ago.
