Ford: "We've decided to do away with the brake pedal on all future cars, instead, replacing it with a touch sensitive glass pad which is integrated into the foot well"

Yeah? no. These people clearly do not know Apple very well AT ALL.

They need to do something to shake things up. The iPhone design has become stale and predictable. Although I can't see them making some massive change this year and another one next year too. That's just not how Apple rolls. So unless there is some mindset change in Cupertino, I think a lot of these predictions aren't going to pan out. On the other hand, sales seem to be a little flat and their engineers must get bored of releasing things that just aren't all that revolutionary. So I guess anything is possible at this point.

Stale and predictable... you say? I'm in the right forum for stale and predictable ^ ;)

I have a more direct opinion - hearsay and hogwash!

This mean that begining with iphone 8 will o ly have power mecanical button , the rest will be with taptic engine like volume buttons and home button

Stale and predictable... or iconic? There's a reason that car manufacturers have kept the same grille design for decades. Can you imagine a BMW without the kidneys?
But car analogies don't work with phones. You hold a phone and overall footprint matters. Getting rid of the top and bottom overall wasted space will make a much smaller and compact device. Apple needs to do something to stay up to date and iPhones are starting to look dated. Bezels galore.

Sit down and fasten your seat belt... Apple enters the modern times.

Training classes to be offered for those who have trouble transitioning from the 1950's style mechanical button. It's possible it'll be standing room only, since just like the throngs that protested the demise of the tiny size iPhone, legions of Apple's Excuse Makers have defended the old fashioned, slow mechanical button that's resided on the front of an iPhone since the original... :D

I know it's freaking DigiTimes, but at this point I'll take any positive iPhone 7 news. It's finally starting to look a bit more interesting. I look forward to swimming with my iPhone because that would be hilarious.

Just wait for lakegate…

*Cue threads about people's iPhones sinking to the bottom of lakes*

*Starts Kickstarter for inflatable iPhone cases*

You realize that bezel complaints are prevalent in tech geek (no offense) forums and nowhere else, right?

Why no physical home button? Because it makes the bezel much larger and a bezel at the bootem means you need longer fingers/larger hand to reach the top of the screen. So changing the physical home button to a touch home button only makes sense when it's not placed at the very bottom of the front.
So Apple needs a good solution where how to replace this basic interaction (home screen, multi-task) and how to replace touch id.

Is it sunny where you are? Maybe you should take a break from your daily Apple critique posts and go play outside.

I'm pretty surprised that at the end of April, we really have no idea what is happening with this phone besides the lack of a headphone port.

The waterproof rumour has been mentioned a few times and has been denied by Ming ChiKuo

Not really. Put an iPhone 5.5" down in front of a non tech geek next to one of the new Samsung phones and ask them which phone feels better in their hand or pocket and test it. Normal people notice overall size differences.

For a huge, cash-rich company, Apple seems to be doing very little in terms of innovation, design, and maximising the potential and delivery of its products, or it is doing a heck of a lot behind the scenes.

Has Apple become a lazy, rudderless, commonplace producer of lamely fashionable tat, or is it going to surprise us with a move that will let it and technology take a giant leap forwards?

All this parsimonious mediocrity is so underwhelming.

Regarding the haptic feedback simulating a button rumor -- I read a while back that something may be in the works where the haptic feedback simulates different surface textures, so if you were "drawing" with the Pencil (or your finger) on what's supposed to be a coarse paper or canvas surface, the iPad or iPhone would use the HF engine to simulate the feeling of the drawing implement being dragged across that kind of physical surface. Is that still a thing?

Apple will never call any of their products "waterproof" since there's virtually no such thing. There are varying degrees of water resistance, and even those certifications are based on limited tests that don't reliably reproduce real life usage.

Still, it would be great to be able to use an iPhone by a pool or beach without worrying about getting it wet. If they went further and made it so you could keep it with you in the water that would be revolutionary for iPhone users.

Have you actually done this? Pretty sure you haven't. I haven't either, but I've asked plenty of "normal" people who switched from the Note to a 6 Plus their opinions, and haven't yet heard from one person that they've regretted their decision.

I hope thats not all the innovation that Apple could have come up with, otherwise I will hold off to replace my iphone 6.
Lets sum up all the rumors:
- Thinner (not for me, I am happy with the current thickness and prefer a bigger battery)
- Waterproofing (wow, what an innovation, most android flagship phones have this already for years)
- headphone jack removal (please no!)
- some changes to the homebutton (IMO, get rid of it completely and integrate touch-id in the display = innovation)
- Updated design (depending on how it will look, I don't care too much since my phone is in a case anyway)
- Spec bump & camera improvements (as usual)

I really hope for Apple that there will be more then this...
