That jet black will look like it lost a fight on a bus full of drag queens on their way to a wig sale within a week.

Not offering a strap for the AirPods as other earbud Bluetooth headsets makes me wonder if new "AirPod" bands are coming.
What is it with you and Drag Queens? You are obsessed! Feel comfortable in whatever you want to wear, I am sure there is a wig that suits you somewhere out there.

So either they lie now or they lied to us for the iphone 6 and 6+... (I mean audio part, i guess the jack wasnt so bad after all)

Anyway, still moving from my 6 to 7+... need more battery

PS: If there are stereo speakers... and one is on the top and the other at the bottom... What is replacing the jack port ?

If you put an iPhone 7 next to a Samsung S7 and run a speed test, the Samsung will blow the iPhone away.

Literally.

:D

Sorry... couldn't resist...
Lol! But I think you mean the Note 7

I really don't blame Samsung for things like this..it happens, this could happen to anyone including Steve Jobs

As a photographer/videographer, I was thrilled to see the lens now opens to F/1.8. If anyone knows photography, that's really fantastic territory for low-light shooting (and with an artistic, shallow depth of field).

S7 is 1.7

With removal of the headphone jack. Hard to say they are even catching up.

I hope it flops badly enough that Apple will be forced to revisit their decision about removing the headphone jack.

Most underwhelming iPhone upgrade yet. All my family members that are on the family plan including myself won't be reordering it. We have 5 lines with T-Mobile with upgrade anytime thing but none of us see anything worthwhile. I might upgrade myself only but not sure. For sure it won't be anytime soon though. Not worth it.

I'm more exited about the Apple Watch. I might actually buy it now that it comes with GPS. IMO the best new announcement by Apple.

The AirPods hahaha. What a ripoff! One of the worst headphones available and they don't even stay in your ear. Compare to my Jaybirds they suck. 5 hour battery life only?! LMAO. For workouts?! HAHAHA yeah right! This has to be the worst Apple product announcement I've seen. $159 hahaha damn... this is hilarious.

I am more exited about the new Macs. I wish they announced them today =(

No. I remember how CD-ROMs took off then. Everything else was still very expensive for many years to come.

But I also don't remember them announcing CD-Rs on the exact same day the iMac lost the floppy drive. They'd been around and people knew what they were. In other words, there was overlap between the old and the new. (Kind of like how Apple transitioned from PowerPC to Intel. Remember that? How they took a year to do it?)

Not like this where they just went and did it all at once. Why? Why not make Airbuds available last year with the iPhone 6S? Would that have made too much sense? Apparently!
But [non Apple] Bluetooth ear buds have been out for years and can be had for around $30 to $100 and beyond for premium models. When I ditched my Apple ear buds for my first Logitech wireless set 3 years ago, there was NO going back! I can't imagine what all this fuss is about.

Would consider an in-ear version for more noise blocking and better fit. My ears don't fit the normal EarPods, they seem to get loose after a minute and I hear all the sounds around me.

Great solution for the case to keep another few charges though!

Gladly.....

I personally love my V-moda Crossfades. I've had 2 pairs of Jaybirds and lost them both. I'm going to actually try the new bragis, kanoas, and airpods when they all come out and compare them all I think just for science :p

Thank you. The two with mics look good for "active" situations. I'd definitely prefer something worth directional audio for calls in the office.

Well one thing's for sure ... the way Phil emphasized the headphone jack as a single function port suggests we'll see Lightning added to the MacBook possibly next month. That will make a huge difference on the rMB for some. Something else that signals Lightning ports in the Macs is the fact there was no mention of an adapter to plug the Lightning headphones into a 3.5mm jack source -- like the Mac. I'm very curious to see how Apple updates the MFi specs and what kinds of adapters start showing up in the Apple Store.

I'm really hoping that Apple has updated the Lightning charging cable in the box with a passthrough port. They're essentially already doing it on the external battery case, they just need to reduce that down to the end of a cable, and that would go a long way toward satisfying a lot of people. I really hope Apple manages to limit the adapters to a minimum. And I hope they stop including it for free in the 7s just as they stopped including the dock with the original iPhone.

LIGHTNING TO 3.5mm ADAPTER IS $9.00!!

$9.00 !!!!!

This has to be some kind of new record for Apple!

$9 price means that DAC in the adapter is really crappy (probably worse than the one inside the iPhone)

Adding Lightning port to a computer is a ridiculous proposition. They already have a more potent port (USB). And they have 3.5mm jack.

To be fair, that didn't cripple it's functionality. At the moment, there doesn't appear to be an adapter that will allow you to both charge and use your headphones at the same time. Not sure about other users but I do this all the time.

iPhone dock will.

Or another phone. :p

Only an Apple fanboy can say something like that. You forget that Apple just removed a feature and made it an option by charging $9 for something that all phones should have out of the box. They just created a new revenue stream and you are applauding. It doesn't matter if it's $30 option, $9 or a 5 cent option. They just purposefully removed a feature and made it an option.

If companies like Apple didn't keep moving technology forward, even if you think it's forcing something down your throat, we would be in a much different place today. I say screw the adapter, Apple should just tell everyone to piss off and get over the old headphone jack. Tech and time marches on and either you keep up or get stomped on. In a year, the conversation about 3.5mm headphone jacks will already be a thing of the past. Sure, some companies will try to sell people on the benefit of the old, but the options and benefits we will see created by walking away from the old will outweigh any short term negatives.

The big problem with the loss of the headphone jack isn't just the jack itself, it's that there's only one port at all. Battery life isn't remotely good enough to not be able to charge and listen at the same time.

But the truth will out. This whole thing is so apple can sell proprietary w1 compatible headphones, and multiple sets of EarPods so you can actually listen to music on an entire flight.

Everyone should start mailing their dongle packages to Jony Ive c/o apple hq. He loves the things so much, we should show him how many we have to buy.

Seriously, it might drive home that the universe isn't filled with people walking around the apple campus with gigabit broadband for an hour a day.

Until they deliver a massive advance in battery technology, so that useable time is in the 24 hour range (screen and gps on), we don't give a damn about an extra 0.005 thinner phone.

That means it's probably a passive adapter - meaning generic brands can make them for even cheaper.

Try a pair with the aptX codec? I would have said the same thing until I got a pair of really nice Plantronics Pro headphones with both class 1 BT and aptX and I can't go back to wired now. I wish Apple would put class 1 BT chips in the iPhone because it's great being able to wander 300' from the source (my rMBP), without cutting out.

300'?????? Holy cow I could leave my phone in my gym locker.

Not sure what you're getting at here. The figures show longer battery life. Wireless audio wasn't tested for 6s/6s+

I'm kinda torn on this decision to buy one or not. i love the new Jet Black color but sad to see that they have taken away the home button and put something that the verge called "awful".

I really hope this isn't a game killer. I'll probably still reserve one because I need to and figure out from there. I am happy about the new camera as I was just about to buy a DJI Mobile OSMO so this should pair really well.

I dunno why people are so hot and bothered by how the Air Pods look. They look exactly like the earbuds that have always shipped with iPhones, just without wires.
I for one have been frustrated with all the wireless earbuds I've used. I have a Jaybird wireless set that works pretty well, but the wire between the earbuds is actually quite annoying while jogging. And pairing (and particularly unpairing) is a constant annoyance. Popping in a single Air Pod and being able to talk on the phone or play music from your watch seems just shy of James Bond level of gadgetry. I'm definitely intrigued.
And people constantly complain about Apple not innovating anymore in their designs, and then when they do, the same people complain. No button? No headphone jack? Not gonna judge it till I get my hands on it. But I don't have any problem with trying to update decades-old technology like the headphone jack. The only change I wish they'd made was multiple or passthrough lightning ports to charge and use the headphones at the same time.

This is the best dongle we've ever made.

Lol. Good one.

Amazes me this line comes out every year. When will the latest model iPhone not be their best work?

I'm very disappointed with the way Apple is handling the new iPhone without a headphone jack. The new iPhone 7 and plus should come with the wireless headphones. Why should we have to purchase it separately. That's a Real Bad Apple!!!!

Turn that disappointment into courage my friend.
