Yesterday disappointed me, minimal upgrades to everything, just enough to make it a new phone, no innovation what so ever, yesterday just highlighted the greedy b@stards apple are.

Samsung and all the other Android mfgrs don't make anything new at all. Some things even worse (like scratch resistance)

They sell overpriced phones, and no one bats an eye.

4K 60 fps? Doesn't do.

Apparently, neither does the iPhone 7.

I also agree to an extent, Samsung HTC etc used to be a cheaper alternative to an iPhone however they are also now as expensive as iPhones.

For me however I think iOS itself is stale, it needs a complete overhaul, it hasn't really changed since day 1, its stable as hell yes but all got rather boring.

The first iPhone was so much more powerful than any other smartphone out there it was silly. It was space aged. The lack of 3G and copy and paste was a silly thing to compare to when the phone could access the freaking internet faster than any other phone anyone had in their pocket. The only competition at the time that anyone was using in volume was blackberries and the iPhone was years ahead of blackberries.

The first 2 iPhones had 400 MHz processors. I was looking at devices with 624 MHz before 2007.

For all those jumping on the "exploding phone" bandwagon realize that years ago iPhones did have some issues with the battery and overheating where no other manufacturers had anything reported at the same period of time so, in some respects there Apple was first. ;)

Also, realize that those complaining about Samsung's issues with the Note 7 just came to light after the phone was released to market:

There is no guarantee at this moment that by mid-October we won't be having nightmare tales of potential exploding iPhones or horrible battery life or some other issues that won't be noted (pun very much intended) until after the product comes to market.

As far as the iPhone 7/7 Plus shooting RAW, welcome to the party, Apple, I was doing that with my LG G2 about 3 years ago. :)

Why do people always forget to add a "No, because I don't like Apple products" option or something like "No, because I have a <insert device here> that already does everything better for me and my own uses" to their poll? :D

I added one to the list just for you!

Samsung already has better specs on their phone right now and will completely blow away this iPhone when their latest model comes out. Loved all my iPhones but they are just taking the piss with their prices now.

Yet the 6s already blew much newer Samsungs away. What has this forum turned into? AppleHatersAnonymous?

Its a fact , hard to take i know but all the figures they released are all inferior to many other phones out now. The 6s never blew away any samsung phones , have a look at the stats.
The competition are also way cheaper too.

Stats/specs are one thing, actual performance is another (more important) thing.

Many people are citing one Samsung model with a battery issue but are making it sound like all Samsungs explode. Kinda silly.

Why not ad an SD slot? Are we that content with paying $100 or more for extra space?

Apple is making a killing in the memory and/or hard drive upgrade department that's for sure.

Personally I'm not a big Android fan, but the new iPhone is really just another incremental improvement. At this point I'm buying every other release mainly due to wear and tear on my older model. No other reason to upgrade really.

To me there is nothing wrong with iPhone performance and a lot more wrong with the device design itself. The iPhone 7 still has huge bezels, especially the Plus. The non-Plus model has a fairly low resolution despite many Android phones showing you can have a 5" 1080p display without huge hits to battery life or device dimensions. Take the Oneplus X from late 2015 for example - it's only a few mm wider than the 7.

Both models have protruding camera bumps only because Apple refuses to make them a tiny bit thicker. Nobody asked for super thin phones in the first place and all smartphone manufacturers are equally guilty about this though. I guess Apple are banking on people putting a case on them, making them even bulkier.

Placing the home/fingerprint reader button at the bottom is a pet peeve of mine on large phones, Samsung and Apple both suck in this respect. Having it on the side like Sony or in the back like many other manufacturers makes it far easier to reach when you have 5.5+" displays as your fingers just naturally end up in those places. When it comes to design I feel obscure Chinese Android manufacturers are doing more elegant looking and easier to use devices than Apple.

Apple has also been doing the bare minimum for storage space and RAM. 2 GB on the iPad Pro 9.7" and iPhone 7 is in my experience as an iPad Air 2 owner barely enough. 3 GB on those models would be the sweet spot and then you would not need to worry about refreshing browser tabs or apps reloading when switching back and forth. For storage they are really nickle and diming when several year old phones at half the price come with 64 GB stock.

They can try to coat removing the headphone jack as "looking into the future" but it provides literally no benefit to the user. You are just going to need adapters or use wireless headphones. Speaking of wireless headphones, I bet that in just a few months people will start finding those Airpods on the street because they look super easy to lose without any kind of string tying them together. Hell, some thieves will probably just snatch one straight out of someone's ear and make a run for it.

I really wonder if Apple will churn out a 7S next year. If they were really reaching for things to promote in this keynote, they will have even tougher time then.

Putting the home button on the back is a no go for me for two reasons. One, I use a case, and two, I have a ProClip mount to use in my car for navigation.

No it doesn't

Performance wise Apple are ahead by a good margin

******** , the Samsung s7 has better spec than this new 7. As have a few other makes too. They will blow it away when they release their s8. Apple have just lost customers with these ridiculous prices.

I can bet Apple aren't losing any customers to be honest

More so after the note 7 issue

Have had all the iPhones but i am seriously going to be looking at the S8 when it arrives, the price alone has totally pissed me off , especially as there are better performing and far cheaper alternatives.

When will you learn that specs do not equal better performance? There have been plenty of tests that show the 6s performs better than any Samsung, and that won't be changing with the next Samsung. Samsung will blow nothing away. You're just trolling for the sake of trolling. Is that really all you can do with your life?

  • If you enjoy running and you want to get an arm band you now have to have the stupid adapter hanging off the bottom of the phone just to continue to use your expensive headphones while running. (beats for example)
Who wears wired earphones when running???

Thankfully, I value real world performance as opposed to obsessing over numbers and specs. Some Android OEM don't seem to understand that there are many variables to fluid performance and slapping on some flashy numbers to the spec sheet doesn't necessarily translate to how it functions in everyday use. Hardware is absolutely nothing without software, I'm glad Apple has control of both.

I'm assuming you're kidding? Samsungs brand new flagship was embarrassingly beaten in benchmark testing by a year old iPhone.
