A lot of android users are mac users... which would be me. But I'm slowly ditching everything apple except for Mac OS (hence the hackintosh). I'm sick of all the restrictions and disposable gimped products they make.
Sure but if you've bought X phone why run down some other phone?
I guess I don't get that.
Constructive debate is one thing but to trash something you don't own..whats the point.
Again, how people spend their life is up to them..

Strangely enough, I get the part about waiting patiently for something you want. I mean, I'm used to waiting a long time for sex…

…just not in line.

Man I remember this stuff when the first few versions came out.

I even waited in line starting at like 4 am with a bunch of other people for the iPad... 2?

At this point, it's almost as much a tradition as it is anything else. It isn't necessary but I imagine for people it's still a fun thing to do.

Granted - 2 days? Like I said, I started at 4 am, that's early enough for me.

Apple fans are just like sports fan. They get line to get the product/service they want. Yes everybody knows we can just preorder from the comfort of our bed, but the people who wait in front of the stores do it for the experience. I don't understand how people just gotta be rude to die hard fans.
After 9 years it's still an experience? Really?

Normal people would probably just order it online. People don't have time to do this. The ones doing this are probably scalpers, to sell the iPhones overseas.

Pale blue dot, folks, pale blue dot!

Many people don't understand why one weekend a year I aim to stay up for 24 hours to watch 50 odd cars pound round a race track in France. I don't understand why every Saturday morning tens or even hundreds of thousands of men traipse out to hit a small ball around a big park for several hours, or give over their Saturday/Sunday afternoons to watch a group of multi-millionaires kick/throw a ball around. I especially don't understand paying hundreds of dollars for tickets and all the attendant expenses to go and watch said event at a stadium on a regular basis.

Different strokes for different folks but there's no need to disparage people for doing something they want, unless it's somehow having a negative effect on your life.

I avoid the first batch of apple anything. Red screen of death comes to mind... wait for "rev b" or at least the second batch.

Have not waited in line since the iPhone 3, it's a tradition....people wait in lines now days for days to
Get tickets, sneakers and every year around Black Friday..hey it's not crazy...if you feel like it you do it.

Looks like waiting in line for iPhone launches has become an annual event for some people. Don't get it since you can sit in your home and get one on launch day. In fact, my iPhone 6 came 1 day early. Oh well... I'm sure it's fun.

But apparently they are selling better than expected at T-Mo, Sprint, and AT&T. VZW said sales were "normal."

That's because of the "free" upgrade when you turn in your 6S (and maybe 6?). Rumor has it that Apple is actually behind the trade-in deal, which if true, is jaw-dropping to me.

...but why? If you want a phone bad enough to wait in line for 2 days, why not just pre-order it at midnight?

Because Apple really hosed the pre-order this round. Many of us, my self included did all our due diligence, got pre-signed in, favorited the items and still, even in ordering within the first 15 minutes, got delivery dates that were not only not on launch day but at the end of the month and beyond.

The app kept crashing, timing out. The site did not open for me until :11 after and my carriers's site, AT&T completely balled up. My order confirmation email came in at 15 after and my delivery date is next week.

So that is why these people are doing this. I sure as heck never would, I have better things to do with my time and better places to pitch my "tent".
