Not defending them or anything, but I get about 25 days a year to take off - a lot of companies are like that too. If I don't use them I lose them after a year - I always lose 10 or so.

Your job forces you to lose on your vacation days? How is that even legal? Your employer sucks.

Only an idiot would wait in line for a device without a headphone jack. Apple has these fanboys in the palms of their hands and they know it. They will blindly buy any of their products.

If that's the case why are you on MACRUMORS forums since it's all about these "fanboys"? Are you just trolling? Nothing better to do? Maybe stand in line instead of trolling, kind of same principal. You have a lot of time on your hands.

I don't understand waiting in lines for days. I mean I'm a huge apple fan and its fun to have the latest stuff but its like... I got work and school. Is this truly the definition of having too much time?
Some people travel when they have vacations, while some binge on Netflix. These photos show what another group of people do with their accumulated vacation days.

Pathetic how obsessed and bought off people have become with gadgets and gizmos.

Not necessarily. I'm not sure how much knowledge you have with Apple's preorder line up outside the Store, a number of these individuals are scalpers, only seeking to purchase the iPhones and immediately re-sell them for a profit on various websites. It's more and more prevalent, and was so with the Apple Watch.

Some have the intention of enjoying the euphoria of the launch and others are their based on to make money immediately. It's not uncommon in my area to see this trend growing.

I'm amazed this still happens in 2016 when you can get up at midnight, order and be done in 30 seconds, then have it dropped off at your house on launch day? I've done exactly these steps for the past 6 launches and never been disappointed.
Some people don't live in homes where its safe to have a $600+ object site on their door stoop.

WTF???? Saving spots with chairs??? **** that ****. Everyone knows since primary school that you can't save spots. I have the right mind to go to my local store and plonk down 50 fold up chairs and let whoever sit down in them moments before the doors open just to piss people off!

I think people respect the "chairs". But mostly because I can imagine if someone cuts someone else the amount of conflict will escalate to violence (I'm guessing, I don't know)

I'm a pretty big Apple fan, but this strikes me as *such* a waste of life. Especially with the ease of pre-ordering. If I missed those pre-orders, I'd wait. That's just madness.
Some people sit in coliseum parking-lots, drinking beer, cooking slabs of meat and wear costumes of their favorite gladiators. Using your logic, those individuals might be wasting their lives.

I don't think the lines will end being a long this year as for previous launches, but I might be wrong...we'll see.

With just two days to go until the official launch of the iPhone 7, customers who are hoping to get their hands on one of Apple's devices have started lining up outside of Apple retail locations around the world.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Happens over here in the Netherlands too.

Most common scenario: employee gets 25 vacation-days per year.
Only allowed a maximum of 5 days "left over" to be transferred to the next year.

This way the employer stops employees saving up vacation days and suddenly spend 100 or more vacation-days in one go.

To all the people who don't understand this, you do realize that a lot of this is mafia related, especially various Asian mafias, right? They pay FOBs or maybe not to stand in line to get these phones and take them back to China or wherever and sell them. It's a huge problem in NYC. You see them come out of the store, approach a car with tinted windows, drop off the phones, and get back in line.
capitalism at its finest.

Your experience with certain class of employer is limited. Its legal since the hours offered are well beyond the minimum required under most state laws for Full Time Employes. The goal of the use it loose it policy is to encourage the employees to take the vacation hours rather than let those hours roll-over multiple years.

pretty much happens with me too. im capped out at work and HAVE to take 2 days off a month....

I've only ever done the multiple hour line once and that was for the 4s I got to the line about 3am and waited. It was kind of fun surrounded by Apple lovers and had a good bit of a chat. After that never wanted to do it again, just wanted the 1x experience.

Pre order and wait is the way to go for me

I definitely would not spend overnight Camping in front of an Apple Store, but I think it would be interesing to meet new people, who share the passion of the iPhone and Apple. Excluding the black market scalpers.
