WHY is it that stereo speakers are such a big thing ON A PHONE? I can understand when working on an iPad, particularly a Pro, that to have a decent speaker system running in the background whilst doing other things can be a great thing to have. You're looking at the screen and experiencing stereo sound, pushed out over a wide area. Unless the iPhone's speakers can throw out discernable stereo sound in an area wide enough to be able to appreciate it, why does it need them? And do people really listen to an un-amplified iPhone to any great extent? If I listen to mine, I'm either using the earbuds or have it connected to a dock or speaker. More battery would be far more beneficial to me. Just sayin'...

Need to listen to my friend's snap chats with stereo quality though. Probably literally 90% of what my use would be out of them. I don't watch videos (YouTube etc) on my phone.

Insanity. Hope these rumors are wrong. Glad I bought a 6s, I would not want a phone without a headphone jack; without it, you could not listen and charge the device at the same time, not to mention the ubiquity of the 3.5mm jack. Foolish. Observe sales crater if this turns out to be the case.

What is their freakin' obsession with thinness? Keep the 1mm and provide better battery life!

Coming out with a 7 "pro" where the only difference is a dual-lens camera would just be stupid.

that render hurts my eyes. haha

why not just erase the white bands? it would be prettier.

Flush Camera? HELL YEAH!
Stereo Speakers? HELL YEAH!
New Lightning port? What the hell? No!

Sorry, but your enthusiasm for stereo speakers on an iPhone totally discredits your outrage over losing the 3.5mm jack.

*IF* Apple elected for Stereo speakers on the next iPhone and dropped the Headphone Jack I can imagine there would be a fair few disgruntled commuters in the morning for those who don't have Bluetooth Headphones :-S.

If Apple replaces the 3.5mm jack with a stereo speaker, I'll be he first to lead the protestors. That's the dumbest use of reclaimed space on an iPhone I've heard ...

I thought this as well when all my friends would complain to me about their lightning cables breaking (I was a late comer to the world of lighting in 2014), then I got my own and they just die. I've NEVER had a micro usb cable die... I've still got the one that came with my family's first digital camera back in 2005.

I've never had a Lightning connector fray. I've had a micro-USB cable fray, and I've had numerous headphone cables fray at both ends. So much for annecdotal evidence proving your point.

Very crazy :p and its not just like people can't choose to use bluetooth headphones at the moment or anything ;) obviously that will be impossible till the 3.5mm port is removed.

No but removing the 3.5mm will increase demand for them, spur innovation, improve quality and lower prices.

I am also an everyday user. I move between my phone, laptop and iPad using that same universal connection, and then any other device that I use that has a audio port.

Then you are the perfect customer. If Apple does this they will put a Lightning connector on your laptop and iPad. Just update them all and you won't need an adaptor anymore. For everything else you only use occasionally, there's an unobtrusive adapter.

Seriously? Do you really think Apple would do this without a way to power the device at the same time a customer listens to music? Never mind the incredibly easy solution to this catastrophic problem has been around since electricity was invented.

Ubiquity is pointless if the only device you plug your headphone into is your iPhone.

I was being sarcastic in my post - I meant that people go on about the 3.5mm port like it stops them from using bluetooth, where as in reality having both gives the best of both worlds. I hate bluetooth audio, and tam also int he boat of finding a 3.5mm port convenient.

Whoops lol. It was too early for me to get it. I get phasing out thing that few people use like serial ports or dvd drives but the 3.5mm jack is used by millions daily. Getting rid of that will be a headache for many.

This is exactly what I don't get about iPhones. The giant chins! Makes the phone look really big, considering it's only 4.7" display. I wish they would start focusing on these thick bezels instead of trying to make the device thinner.
yep....that would be awesome if the redesign reduces the bezel. I am even in favor of dropping the home button too.

Is that all?A thinner phone,No headphone jack,a flush camera and no antenna lines.Wow this HAS to be the most disappointing number succession for the iPhone line ever.Man,that Galaxy S7 looks so tempting right now.Its already wiping the floor with the 6S in the design department. If there is no design change I am switching to Samsung which is in addition to the lag issues already plaguing my iPhone 6.Sorry Apple but if that's all you got Samsung wins this round

Dont you know samsung already lost?

I guess people aren't reading the arctile… You won't need a new charger. This will be a success. The current iPhone design is beautiful and am glad to see they're continuing it's design language. They're just making slight enhancements. They really do need to focus on smooth launches and debugging their software instead of adding tons of new features. If it's not broken, don't fix it.

It can be thinner if the back material is something not slippery, something like the glass on the 4s. But damn, the battery needs to last longer and 16GB entry is a joke.

these are just rumors.
I don' t mind about the 3.5 mm, but I also don' t care about a second speaker.

I am not worried about the soc either.
Apple has shown large improvements with all new releases.

Like the fact there will be no lines on the back and a flush camera.

I am just worried about the design and the screen.

I really hope the rumors about the dimensions (width, height)of the unibody iPhone 7 are not true.
It would mean that the large chins and bezels wil still be the same as the 6/s+.
Or they would have to increase screen size to 4.9 and 5.7 inch to shrink the bezels.
They could, but they also should bring a new 4 to 4.2 inch iPhone 7 for people that want a smaller iPhone , or the se is so advanced, they won' t have to.

Now the screen itself. I really hope the 4.7 inch gets a minimal res of 1920x1080 and the 5.5 inch of 2560x1440.
But Apple always goes for a thin design, which has the cost of lower batter life.
So my guess is they wil go for 1704x960 and 2208x1242 at the most. And that would be a shame.

I like the rumors of the iPhone pro though, but they would have to add more than just a better/dual lens camera.
The pro should have a better soc with more memory, faster gpu, a way to multitask/split screen.
And a smaller footprint , by making in screen touchid, in screen home button by 3D Touch, etc.
if we are gonna pay more for it, they have to deliver the latest tech.

Actually the pro is what Apple needs to maintain margins . It would have to be cutting edge tech that can' t ship in large quantities right now, has low yields, so is expensive right now.
By starting to produce this cutting tech for the iPhone pro , the yields will improve over time, and will be cheaper to produce in time.
This way Apple will be able to implement this tech in the next gen cheaper, "non-pro"' iPhones and maintain margins.

This is the only way to push innovation in iPhones for Apple and maintain their so precious margins.

You don' t have to like it, but that is just the way Apple works.

As i've told you about a million times, I'm not interested in lightning connector headphones. I'm not interested in updating all my devices for pointless reasons. I'm interested in simply plugging in my headphones to the range of devices (my iPad, Macbook, Windows tablet, Windows PC, iPhone, amplifier), without the need to shell out for easy to loose, expensive, breakable adaptors, just to use what is a universal standard.

Not to mention lighting being the most stupid port to put on a laptop. Its a proprietary port, we should be moving towards common ports not away.

I'm simply not interested. No 3.5mm audio jack = Apple devices having reached a point where form has completely taken over function.
