That's not how voltage estimates go for batteries, especially at the extremes (full/empty).
Thats exactly how they work.If you charged the iPhone to say around 83% and unplug it will stay at 83% throughout the night. If you charge to 100% then let it drain to 83% and keep it overnight, the percentage will dip.I tried this myself because even on 80% charge my iPhone still gets me through a day of moderate-heavy usage.Apple is intentionally messing with the percentage so that if you unplug it at any percent it will make it seem like the device got a heavy charge boost

Also i am expecting better battery life when using the phone as well because if the weather app was set to to always on in standby it was always on using too

Ah, taking things and making them fit together and presenting that as proof of something. Some great "sciences" like numerology and looking for shapes in the clouds have certainly solidified that "scientific" method.

You are denying facts. What I stated are tricks Apple uses to fool users

Except all that has been posted so far have been observations as to how battery power percentages are estimated followed by some theory about some sort of a conspiracy to trick by Apple without anything connecting one to the other or anything to actually support the theory.

Yes trust me this was the problem for me, what i have done is go to location settings and set weather to never or delete app, up to you! and then go to widgets on homescreen and edit, disable or remove weather, for me at least there was problem with the weather app and i had already set phone up as new but it didn't fix the issue until i removed and stopped using the weather app/widget, i was losing 15-20% in standby overnight but i only lost 1% last night and yes i have background app refresh off but i had off anyway so it was the weather app/widget for me that was the culprit.

I get the same 15% drain over night but unfortunately even with location services turned off completely it makes absolutely no difference on my iPhone 7
Thanks for the suggestion though, glad you've managed to fix yours

Ya understand what your saying, it was a fix for me but might not solve yours or others, have you tried resetting your router, i also reset my router to default settings from my computer a couple of days ago as noticed that when my phone was on the table the WiFi signal was fluctuating up and down and it now stays constant and is also faster.

Unfortunately it loses around 2% per hour on standby if I'm on wifi at home or away from home on 4G or even in airplane mode with wifi off

Ya Man it seems that you've probably got hardware issue then which is unfortunate, this is my second day with the fix that i done with the weather widget and it wasn't a miracle, had 98% last night and 97% this morning after about 11 hours standby, have you considered going to Apple authorised service provider near your location? That's what i was advised to do with an online Web chat with Apple bout 4-5 day's ago after they tested my battery and found it to be good?
[doublepost=1479554115][/doublepost]Sorry dude i should have said if you try a Web chat with Apple they will ask you for the serial number of the phone and then they can do a diagnostics and usage test on your battery there and then, only takes bout 5 minutes, at least you'd know if it were a faulty battery

I dont actually think the battery is faulty because it drains at roughly the correct rate when I'm using the phone (around 10% per hour usage) it's just the standby drain I can't fix, so yes I think it is hardware at fault but not the actual battery itself.

Its not a theory. Its a fact.Charge your phone to 45%.Check the amount of time it takes to drop to 44% .On my 7 Plus it took 15 minutes. Now when you are not charging the phone the drop takes 4 minutes of browsing. So based on your premise of it not being a conspiracy, can you please explain this anomaly? Why does the phone take long to drop 1 % after charging but doesnt when its not charged at the same %?

Since you are the one making claims of something, can you show proof that Apple is doing something on purpose and is essentially engaging in a conspiracy to mislead? And, just to point out the obvious once again: simply not being able to think up of another explanation and finding something that seemingly fits isn't how proofs work.

Hey bud, I agree with you. When I first got my ip7 the battery was draining roughly 20% overnight with nothing open/on etc. I changed the weather location services to NEVER and the next morning I woke up with 100%. Has been like this since. Plus in the day it does't randomly drain either.

I advise anyone else who's losing battery over night to change the weather location services in settings to NEVER. Or even delete the app since it's mainly wrong anyway Lol.

I've been losing 20% overnight. Last night put on Airplane mode and still lost 20%. Will go replace the phone I guess.

If your getting roughly 2% per hour battery drain over night try this test. Turn your phone off and see if it still drains 2% per hour as mine does! Looks like contacting Apple

Also tried to completely close the phone and lost 7% in 3 hours
Update - went to Apple store. They ran a test and found nothing yet replaced my phone. It's been now 48 hours since I charged and I am at 37%! Although didn't use it excessively over the past 48 hours I've never had such a good experience with a battery. Bottom line there was definitely something wrong with the old phone.

I've contacted apple support about mine draining 2% per hour on standby even after a DFU restore set up as a new phone and they're sending out a box for it to go for repair.

Mine loses nothing...zip...nada overnight in 8 hours. Very happy about battery life in general on my 7+...(10.1.1)

Jeez, how is that even possible. How many apps do you have? Have you tweaked any of your settings (location, location services, background app refresh, etc.)?

Nothing out of the ordinary really. No tweaks or specific settings. Wifi connection always on. Gps and Bluetooth on (only when active of course). Sync Gmail and iCloud always on. Background app refresh on for weather, Gmail, whatsapp, Google calendar, adblock plus.

Apple advertises 16 days of standby for 7 Plus on its website but I don't feel getting that much. Though I can't test it for that long because I use it a lot. But I lose 4-5% overnight (WiFi on, 4 dots signal, DND on, no notifications) over 8 hours which is a far cry from 16 days standby. 15%/day adds up to 6-7 days of standby. It's not bad but it's not what I was expecting from a Plus model either. Battery on usage is fine. 8-9 hours of usage in a day and I'm at 20%.

I have Background App Refresh on for just WhatsApp, Outlook and Gmail. Location Services is on but for only while using. I switched back to iOS from a Nexus 5 which had its battery issues. I got a Plus model so that I would not have to care about battery once again but it doesn't seem like it. My iPad 4 would not lose any battery over Wi-Fi either.

I tested again tonight...with both mobile data and wifi off, it lost 3% overnight.

P.S.: Leaving your phone at 100% will definitely be at the same level when you wake up. It takes a good amount of active usage to drop to 99% too.
