Something that bothers me on my iPhone 7 Plus is that the screen is a little bit darker (more of a gray color) on the edges of the screen, specially 1cm of the right section of the screen. It looks like the light is uneven or it has a drop shadow on it. Its not much, but my eyes can see this and its a bit annoying! This problem is most visible when im in the main setting section or when reading full texts that covers the entire width of screen in Safari Anyone else noticed this? Im using 50% brightness and nightshift is always off.

My first 7 plus's display was perfect. My replacement is a little bit darker just above and to the left of the home button. Its definitely annoying me but not sure its worth replacing over.

Yup more and more people are noticing these "picture perfect" screens from apple.

You two options.

1. Learn to live with it.

2. Start returning phones until you can find one you can live with. But it could be a lengthy process that involves multiple replacements (getting one worse or different/same problem as last one) and you still end up without your problem fully solved. Take it from me I went through 8. (Cough) yes 8 iPhone 6's till I finally gave up. I had screen uniformity problems on all of them. Some worse than others. And some with different defects. Clicking lose screens, buttons, cameras, yellowing dark patches on the screen you name it. The QC checks on the last 3 years of these phones is lower since they make so many of them and the majority of people don't care or notice some things.

My first and only JB 7 has a pinkish tinge in the upper left side and a dimmer yellowish tinge in the bottom that you can see on white screens. But based off of experience I think I'm just going to live with this one!!!! The battery life is awesome and I hear no hissing and everything else seems to work ok. But then gain every time I use it my eyes are drawn to the un-even parts of the screen and I have to remind myself that nothing is perfect and it's very hard to find an edge lit LCD with perfect uniformity.

Hope this helps and I hope we get OLED next year!! :D

Some or a few may notice. You have no evidence to make such a broad claim. And I was suspect all would care.

6 6s and 4 7 (2 each) and only one has a slightly warmer screen on MAX brightness, and it is only noticeable when compared to another phone on MAX brightness. So really it's not an issue.

Any photo's indicating your concern?

I tried to take a few pics with my iPhone 6 plus, but the images didnt get any good. I will try to borrow a friends camera and try again

For a phone that cost 1200 dollars, we should be able to get a device that we actually can look at without getting annoyed. But thats my opinion ;)

One thing that helped a little bit, is to set the white brightness to 25%. It darkens the "White / Brightness" setting on the screen, so that the left side gets a bit darker so that it matches the right side of the screen. The gray area is still there, but not as much as before.

Well I have no other evidence other than the last 9 phones I've seen in my hand that I've owned and my wife's phone all have had these screen issues to some effect. I've yet to see one even in the wild that has perfect uniformity. (Even display models) And and based off of what I've read and seen from other people is that this is just the nature of the beast with edge lit LCD's.

If you are happy with you phone(s) great! I'm just letting this person know what to expect. And to not get their hopes up! Especially since their eyes are sensitive to these screen issues. Most people have their brightness cranked up all the time and it's harder to notice these issues. It's really more oblivious when the brightness is low.

Funny, I leave my brightness way low. Like 25% or less 90% of the time and still have noticed any issues. Will ask family tonight and check their phones.

Here's a few more threads of the same issue we've seen the past 3 years.

I had previously owned normal 6 and 6S, both with darker areas around the top edge.

However, I have to say my current 7 plus screen is the best screen I have had from apple. No darker patches and uniform colour all round.

Indeed it is! I have mine set at 50% (right below the blutooth icon) and i can fully see the "extra" gray section at the entire right screen. Adding more brightness than 50% makes my eyes bleed :p

And sliding the brightness to 20-30% makes everything dark

Coming from Android, these "imperfections" are so minimal to me that I hardly notice. Every Android device that I've owned had some terrible defects. My S6 had a huge pink blotch on the bottom right 1/4 of the screen (major pink, you could see it from 5 feet away). My Note 7 screen looked like it was lifted off of the device. You could see the display shining through the cracks between the glass and metal trim. Those are just some examples. The iPhone seems perfect compared to those.

Yeah I think most people have the same thought. They swap and swap and swap and finally give up and live with one that is LESS defective. And it made me realise the expensive price we pay is not for the product itself but for the 14 day return policy. Since people are just buying service but not products, it seems more reasonable to blame them of being perfectionism or obsession, right? In the end of day Apple's main business is selling service rather than selling phones and laptops I guess. Otherwise I dont really see why I should take the risk buying one expense iphone lottery. This lottery is way too expensive and more than 700 times expensive of the real lottery in the place I live.

I've seen more than 10 brand new iphone 7 plus screens. There are two issues i've seen. One is darker/yellow bottom. the other one is blue/darker tint on the right side. My current one has almost no darker bottom but slight blue tint on the right side. I've personally never seen one without these two issues. All these were F2L manufactured. I'm actually waiting to see C39 manufactured that I've always had a luck with.

Where on the phone can i see when the phone was manufactured?

Here are 3 photos of my screen. It was pretty hard to capture the problem with a 6 plus camera, hopefully you guys can see something :)

So, did anyone view the images i added? Do you guys see the gray line on the right side of the screen?

Didn't see the grey line, but just unevenness. The screen seems a little bit brighter in the center and dimmer in the rest part.

It was pretty hard to capture the problem with a 6 plus camera...

That's the problem with using a camera and uploading pics - it's harder to discern problems that would be much easier to see first-hand. Unfortunately, we all can't see it first-hand. :)

That's not a criticism, just the reality of the situation.

I have the same issue but I don't think it's worth it to get it replaced. At least it doesn't have a yellow tint or hiss (at least for now). Just try not to pay that much attention to it.

Same here with my 7 plus!! My wifes is the same. Seems like wk 36 to 38 have good screens on most.

Looking at 2 iPhone 7 Pluses now, and both seem a tad darker on the right edge.

7 plus this year its really hard to find a decent one. All ive seen bunch of them and all had yellowe bottom darker right side. Good luck
