Those tracking are pretty cool to always check out. Seems like my device is still in China according to tracking.

So when I click on "change delivery" on my package, the first option is a customer center or "CC" even though is not the closest location to me. Does that mean I'll be able to pick it up there first thing in the morning if I choose that location? It is the closest cc for me.

What's funny is that my iPhone is somewhere over Canada right now heading to Louisville, Kentucky and I still don't have a tracking number issued from Apple. I got it by using the reference section on UPS. I wonder when Apple feels the need to let me know my tracking number.

That is most likely the location it would be going through anyways to get to you. If you pick a different one or a UPS store you'll delay it 1 business day.

That's what I was thinking why that one would come up first. That answers my question, thanks! Definitely picking it up there.

I suspect my iPhone is and has been in Kentucky and there hasn't been a shipping label or tracking number generated yet because I can't find mine with a phone number or the apple order number. Any other ideas on how to locate it?

I'm pretty sure only Apple orders show up early with UPS tracking numbers (most using reference track with either their phone or their order number), because they are the only orders that never leave the UPS fulfillment system. The carriers all seem to have UPS dropship to their own warehouses for inventory control (which UPS does for Apple) thus leaving the UPS system until the carrier warehouses have enough physical inventory in stock at the warehouses/fulfillment centers to hand the delivery back to UPS. THAT is when carrier orders will start receiving tracking numbers. Basically, the only order information UPS has about a carrier order is which carrier fulfillment center to deliver to. UPS will not receive any of your delivery information until the carrier puts the package back into the UPS system and then UPS assigns a tracking number. When you order though Apple, your delivery and order information are sent directly to UPS (since they handle all fulfillment for Apple preorders). When you order through a carrier, UPS does not receive your order information because they are delivering to ATT, VZW, T-Mo, and Sprint, not you.

sorry if I'm behind, but has the only people who have had success tracking their 7+'s those who ordered through apple and not their carrier (verizon specifically)???

It looks like it. I'm sure Apple has a better handle on their own stock from the manufacturer to the customer, while carriers can only assign shipping information once they get their stock from Apple (probably any day now).

Correct. From what I've read and heard, UPS handles fulfillment for Apple, so UPS gets your order information directly from Apple as soon as your order is complete and confirmed by Apple, whereas the carriers keep your order information until they have enough product dropshipped to their warehouses, check inventory against orders, then send your information on to UPS for delivery.
