Looks like these unicorns started popping up all over. It's raining SIM Frees today.
[doublepost=1478128186][/doublepost]
I am getting increasingly disappointed. The latest entry by UPS on the progress of my package was: "Pkg shipped; delivery being scheduled." This is not very informational --especially considering that the entry was made at 1:40 PM EST and, as of 6:40 PM EST, the package has not left Incheon, Korea.

Go to your local store and buy one. Then return your UPS box when it arrives.

I wish I could. In the Apple-forsaken U.S. territory of Puerto Rico, there are no Apple retail stores. Carriers, such as AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint, sell iPhones but the 7 Plus is simply not available in any color or capacity at carrier stores. If a customer wants a 7 Plus, ordering it is the only way to get one.

is there any way to confirm your phone is sim free besides using multiple carries sims?

based on what? When I search the model I get all versions Verizon or AT&T

The 6s plus unlocked was the same version regardless of carrier. Has GSM and CDMA bands. If unlocked, anyone can use it. If not under contract, can be easily unlocked by carrier and all bands utilized, depending on the service the user subscribes to.

The 7 and 7 plus are trickier. The AT&T and T-Mobile versions are missing the CDMA bands. The Verizon, Sprint, and SIM-free have GSM and CDMA.

Yea I understand. But what I'm saying is that when I search my model numbers Best Buy lists the same model for 7 Plus AT&T. Verizon lists the same model for the 7 Plus Verizon. How are you finding that this model is unlocked?

Ahhh. Best Buy is an exception. They sell the same model (SIM-free, unlocked) to everyone. Easier for inventory, I guess?

The Verizon and Sim-Free phones are exactly the same?

I thought the SIM-free had some extra ATT bands or something.

Nope. Same phone. Technically, the Sprint and Verizon are the same, but Sprint locks theirs.

Used to be, the AT&T and T-Mo were also the same as the unlocked, but they changed it this year and stripped the CDMA out of the AT&T and T-Mo ones you buy at Apple and through the carriers.

That said, Best Buy sells the same phone for all carriers. Which is the unlocked one.

Weird. Went to the local Apple Store after work around 5:30 pm, to pick up the JB sim free I bought around noon, and they said they don't have anymore allocations "to pull from the back".

The cancelled my order and reorder again from the same location for pick up today. WTF.

How can a retail business not be willing to break stock to sell?

They have daily limits for some types. Those disappear once launch is totally done.

My iPhone was supposed to be delivered today but it is still in Korea. 53 hours after arriving in Korea the latest progress update by UPS is that they "were unable to load the package on the plane as scheduled." What an utter failure!

Just keep on checking online. To what I've been reading lately, UPS been late updating their website. Hope you get your iPhone soon too.

Thanks everyone. I changed to another Apple Store and it's ready for pickup from there now. Lower tax rate too, so $25 or so cheaper.
