Oh look fake "fan" on Macrumours.

Yes, i'm fake :) Because i'm getting tired of Apple's reality distortion field :) I have many iDevices at home and love Apple as a brand, but it doesn't mean i can't criticize it, especially when i see that their lost their own way and vision. But it's just me :) You like it what you see - good to you, mate :)

Well, it looks great. Just a shame it'll immediately scratch if it's within the same zip code as some house keys.
Your username is quite apt, though I might have gone with promoterofanxiety - - I just want to know where you had a chance to handle a jet black iPhone 7 in person?

Apple makes billions, I'm pretty user they are giving people what they want. And I bet they know better then anyone just that, what people want. Also, Apple has always pushed people into future with things like dropping floppy drive, dvd drive, etc...

Dont get my JB+ for 4 more weeks (october :( ) but i am surprisingly most excited to see what they do with the haptic feedback.

I feel your pain. Out the gate the JB7+ preorder was pushed back to mid October on AT&T.

I know for a fact a large number of true audiophiles use light headphones already.
Of course the potential is there for improvements in audio with Lightning but it's at the higher end where the biggest improvements will come. You said "You know you will get better sound with lighting headphones?" but it is possible you could get worse sound quality if budget spec components are used to meet a price point at the lower end of the market.

It's just a trace of hyperbole Bob, don't worry too much :)

Making Billions is not equal to making good products.

Do you think that Windows was a great product in the early 2000s? It wasn't but it was an absolute cash cow or Microsoft.

Look, i dont want to be horrible about Apple - I love their products, but i find the way these reviews are 'authorised' sucks. It really makes fearless journalism pretty difficult. Apple themselves send out the invites, Apple selects a subset for reviewing. The reviews only have days with it, and have all had the one just before it anyway, so they write these basically bland posts about how it compares to the predecessor with all sorts of suggests of PR department spin on various 'explanations on why something was done such a such a way.

On the specific issue i have - None of them seem to actually go for the jugular with the fact that Apple's supposed IP67 rating was done by  themselves (they said so ON stage) -not an independent third party - and that in any case, if you did respect the rating, and the phone WAS damaged, Apple oesn't help you as they specifically exclude it from Warranty. So in otherwise: the claim is worthless!

'True' audiophiles aren't using iPhones for their high end listening. For most people, due to the low level quality of music that would typically be on an iPhone, you're not going to get any difference from lightning headphones.

Looks like I could have written any of these without touching the phone. Ars is still the best at least going into some of the performance stuff and concentrating on the new. Ones like the Verge are for the masses it seems. That site has always been inconsistent because of weak bloggers. "Once its in a case, it looks like the iphone 6"...lol. Well duh. It's always moreso about the front of the phone rather than getting sidetracked with colors of the back.

At this point I'm sure we all know the pros and cons of the headphones thing. The biggest additions to me are performance, waterproofing, additional speaker, storage bump, color gamut, and camera. Those are the areas where the experience will change for the better.

They can't carry their systems everywhere they go.

If the people using phrases like 'if Steve Jobs were alive......', 'this would never happen under Steve Jobs...', realised how juvenile they sound, they would stop.

Steve Jobs is dead - accept it. He's never coming back. No one EVER will be like Steve Jobs. What he WOULD have done is totally irrelevant at this point. Please move on to something actually pertinent to discussions here.
Agreed, reading posts on macrumors some sound like they have regular conversations with him. There is a term for that.

I am only interested in the upgraded cameras, OIS, and the new home button which I see is enough reason for me to pick-up a new 7 on Friday; I own a 6 now.

I'll wait for an objective review. These reviews are well vetted by Apple. Do you think they'd let somebody borrow a phone a week before launch and allow them to slander it? Would a reviewer even do this if they could? Apple wouldn't let you have it so early next year in that case.

The purpose of these reviews is to build excitement and confirm positive thoughts. The same way Apple have advertised the phones through various talk shows; e.g., get Jimmy Kimmel (who I really like btw) to talk about it and gain more publicity.
That's called confirmation bias, it effects many in today's world.

I was about to choose Jet Black at first, so glad now that I cancelled it because of the longer shipping date. After seeing the video by TechCrunch, I'm sure I went with the right colour with Black.

If Steve were alive today he would be spinning in his grave :/

You joined MR in 2006. You should really know better than that.

The early iterations of iPhone OS were terribly buggy. Plus you mention "incomplete" software, yet the first iPhone didn't even have an App Store. Or video recording. Or even copy/paste, for crumb's sake.

And things didn't always go right. Remember when they tried to release software updates and phone activations on the same day and everything went down for like 2 days (I think it was the 3G). Or MobileMe and how awful it worked: http://www.pcworld.com/article/149481/MobileMe.html

The man wasn't perfect, and didn't always put out perfect things. But man I miss his vision.
