The biggest sheeple I'm seeing in this thread are the Verge haters.

Over and over again "shills," "bought and paid for," "fake," or "typical."

Mysteriously missing? Facts. Support. Thoughtful critique.

The irony is heavier than an iPad 3.
Nilay is a wanker of epic proportions. The review is fair though.

What kind of power brick and cable are you using? Also if its an issue, take it into apple and get it replaced? I know many people with 6S's and two with 5SE's, neither of them have complained about it being hot after charging off of a iPad 12W Power brick and third party 6ft lightning cable, so you are either giving it too much power, or have a "bad" phone, it happens.

Also, my co worker who sits next to me, bitches constantly how hot his Nexus 6P gets when he's fast charging it.......
I use iPad charger charging iPhone SE and 6S. Everytime iPhone SE/6S charges, outer case is hot to touch. This is more apparent with black SE.

Also it shouldn't matter which charger I am using. iPhone has a circuitry that protect over charging. iPhone should able to prevent over charging and over heating. The whole idea using not original charger is way of Apple pushing responsibility to user. iPhone has ability to prevent overcharging and overheat, but when it fails, Apple has responsibility as well.

My Nexus 5X and 6P gets hot as well, because rapid charging. But not hot to touch.

Best thing about it, made the 64GB iPhone SE cheaper.

Amen, picked one up after i sold my 6 plus and i'm pretty happy, the battery life is exceptional as is the speed, and the fact my thumb can swipe the whole screen as i hold it one handed, I'll be back for the iphone 8, but I'm happy with the SE

To me the most noticeable improvement will be the ram. My 6+ is HORRIBLE. doesnt keep apps open whatever. music app playing in the car. Go into the store to get something come back out into my car and reloads. I'm calling my phone iPhone 6+ reload from now on. Worse than my iPhone 5 was.
The other new stuff is a big upgrade also but I'm looking forward to speed and ram

This is exactly the reason I dumped the piece of junk that was the 6 Plus.

The 6S Plus is damn near perfect.

totally different. floppy disks, firewire, etc, were all replaced with something better. The iPhone 7 is less useful than my iPhone 6 by the removal of the jack. All of the options presented so far, included that wretched adaptor, just don't cut it. Looks like this will be my last iPhone too - I'll just move on when I'm ready rather than 'getting over it'.

Oh jesus. Are you just as daft as most people bitching about headphone jacks? The removal of the headphone jack and using lightning / digital is the BEST ****ING THING EVER. Want proof? http://www.theverge.com/2016/9/9/12859858/no-headphone-jack-iphone-7-reaction

Read what Sennheiser, Audio Technica and other PROFESSIONAL HIGH END AUDIO companies have said. I would take wired headsets that have active noise cancelling, eq balancing via app, DAC built-in over analog piece's of **** that have been around for too long.

"Sennheiser has seen many different connection standards come and go in the audio world over the years. Audio connections have always been continuously evolving. Digital outputs, such as Apple's Lightning connector, will offer new opportunities to take a step forward and to further enhance the sound experience for the customer. For example, 3D audio technology using digital signals is just one possibility."

Mr. Patel isn't my favorite reviewer either. I don't care for his style or apparent pretentious victim-like mentality. Seems to be a rebel without a cause.

However, I'm so tired of the unsupported bashing of X Company/Website/Product just because other people say so. TheVerge's review was informative and fair, I thought.

Wake up! You are not going to hear the difference analogue and digital on a busy commuter train! All these tests are done in a lab. I'm by no means daft, I'm just not buying Apple's marketing BS! It is not therefore the best thing ever, it's an utterly stupid idea!

I said from beginning, removal of headphone jack is the biggest turn off for me. Combing with using Samsung SDI's battery. I will have my concern over iPhone and iPhone 7.

Also, both my Black iPhone SE and iPhone 6S are very hot to touch during charging concerns me even more.

So until Apple comes out and give us reassurance, I will stop using my iPhone all together. I am using my Android phone as daily driver anyway. So giving up iPhone is not end of the world.

So when you measured the temperature it was out of spec?

_Any_ decent phone (and any tablet, or laptop) will restrict how much power it sucks out of the charger to exactly the right amount. And the charger will also restrict how much it delivers. Just like a 60 Watt light bulb uses 60 Watt, and not 100 Watt or 500 Watt.

is that not the music app that is causing that?

Od course they want ass kissing Apple. They could make bunch of money selling lightning headphone!

The point is Apple removing an OPEN port with lightning port that aren't compatible with any other port. This attempts will undoubtedly failed like FireWire and Thunderbolt port.

Or I could spend 100 dollar to get new battery or 30 dollar for a portable battery.

Much cheaper option. Plus 7 offers nothing exciting. Dual Camera is just HTC M7 setup all over again.

I gave up changing batteries after the 4S. Although, I never kept phones longer than a year so battery life never got to be a problem.

Exactly!

If the people using phrases like 'if Steve Jobs were alive......', 'this would never happen under Steve Jobs...', realised how juvenile they sound, they would stop.

Steve Jobs is dead - accept it. He's never coming back. No one EVER will be like Steve Jobs. What he WOULD have done is totally irrelevant at this point. Please move on to something actually pertinent to discussions here.

The Apple Watch never would have happened on Steve Jobs' watch.

;)

Interesting reviews.

All agree it's a good evolution of the iPhone, which is already great, and the iPhone jack removal is a pain.

My concern is the home button

My disappointment : the jet black scratches easily , damn deal breaker.

I did say it was fair.

I miss the old days when people on forums such as MoDaCo, Howard Forums, XDA Developers, etc., would review handsets.

'True' audiophiles aren't using iPhones for their high end listening. For most people, due to the low level quality of music that would typically be on an iPhone, you're not going to get any difference from lightning headphones.
Well, if you are an audiophile then your iPhone would be filled with music imported from CD in a lossless format. 256 GB 7+ has enough space for about 30 days x 24 hours of CD quality music.
