I'm an "all about the storage guy", so a 256GB option will finally put the last nail into the coffin of my considering Android devices because of the SD card slot.

Hanging onto my 6+ until further notice. Got the 128GB due to my iTunes library, but I find myself using spotify most of the time, still 128 is the sweet spot for me.

With that being said, holding off on the upgrade until next year.
I'm holding off on making the decision until Apple's official announcement. Mostly it's hinging on the capabilities of the dual-lens camera, though other new or improved features may factor in.

I'm not sure about the rest. But my phone has became a time capsule. It contains all the photos since day *who knows*: trip, family, friends, fun, etc. I enjoy scrolling back ~ a timeline of my past.

It might sounds strange. One of my reason to get a bigger storage every time i upgrade my phone – simply to keep my photos within the phone's storage. Before anyone starts bashing. Yes, I do have backup. However, how many of us actually look at the photo which you exported out? Just my preference, totally absurd, I know.

Definitely welcome the bigger storage space.

I think that is more the norm than you realize. Some people on purpose, most because they never backup or sync. I have hundreds of pics on my phone myself, on purpose. I think of it as yet another backup of pics I would be crushed if I ever lost. Never hurts to have multiple backups at multiple sites. Also it's a great conversation starter to have old pics to whip out when talking about travel or family or whatever. That said I'm forcing myself to stay at 128GB. There comes a time it gets unmanageable.

Obviously, Apple charges the lower amount, not the top amount, unless it wants to fully alienate its customer base. Sure, products that address specific use cases are good. However, storage isn't a use case, storage relates to proper function of the device, storage isn't really a "personalized solution". We disagree. That's fine.
Indeed we disagree. But at least you don't consider this a Human Right so it's okay. :D

I honestly don't need to keep everything synced on my phone. I think that's just a mental defect of hoarding. I can't listen to my entire iTunes playlist on a flight going anywhere around the world. Considering, there are other things to take into account that's killing your time: Tweeting, watching your luggage, TSA, reaching your destination, what you are doing at your destination.

Also, how many photos are you going to take? I think there must be some harmony with what you are doing with the device. Yes, for me 64 GB is overkill, but at the same time too, I think 128 GB and 256 GB is just creating an illusion that you must have that. I honestly don't look at photos from 2007, 2008, 2010 too often that I must have instant access to it on the device.

So anyone who prefers having a nice selection of music, movies etc. on their phone has a mental defect? Are you always in the mood for the same thing? Do you use mp3s or lossless? Why do you care? No one cares if you go for a smaller storage size. Great, that's what works for you. It's great to have choices to fit a wide swath of peoples needs.

Not to even get started on things, apps, etc. I need for work.

I agree with gist of your comment but I don't want to have to manage content/data. I just want it all available in case I need something. So I'd love more storage so that I can sync everything and not worry about it. I know this is what the cloud is for, but I've had some bad experiences with cloud services (including iCloud), so I'd rather pay for more local storage and not be reliant upon the cloud.

Exactly. I sync with iTunes, after the first time, you just make a few changes here and there and it's easy. Not to mention cloud proponents assume there is unlimited bandwidth with excellent coverage everywhere.

3D picture and refocusing, 3D picture and refocusing, 3D picture and refocusing!
Go, go, go Apple!

But I'm almost sure they'll do something lame instead...
Just curious, why do you want refocusing on a camera that reaches hyperfocal at about 3ft?

And a $50-100 price increase.

See iPad Pro.

The reduction of earbuds and port will substitute the price hike of additional storage.

Not really.

In Europe, Russia and other places prices rose dramatically due to currency. Apple is not going to push prices up further.

That's because of currency exchanges. Russia is really bad and not stable

At least this would almost justify the $100 price increase between data tiers. I'd be so down for 128GB.

I might want that 256 option. I like to have my music local. And my library eats a very large portion of my 128 GB right now.
256 if they keep prices close the same, sounds like good enough to upgrade.

I don't see anything absurd here-- I do the same thing on my desktop. I never delete a picture, I just keep adding storage as it all fills up. My Aperture library is approaching two TB. Since you're probably taking most of your pictures with your phone, it's the natural place to keep them.

For me it's my music library that's crowding everything else out. I've had to downsample it to 128kbps, and would love to raise that bit rate. This is why I'm much more interested in increasing the top end storage, and could care less about whether they make a 16GB or not.

Sounds good to me, hopefully they won't use this as an opportunity to bump up prices (iPad Pro style). I suspect that they will keep the starting price price for the 32 GB model the same as the current 16 GB 6s, but we'll see what happens with the higher tiers. A $150 premium to move from 32 to 128 GB may scare a lot of people off of upgrading (even though it's $50 cheaper than it is to get 128 GB now...) Maybe a $100 premium for 128 GB but then another $150 on top of the 128 GB model price for 256 GB?

I kind of hope they keep the 64 GB model but only charge a $50 premium since 64 GB is the sweet spot for me (I could live with 32 GB but it would be more work), but that seems unlikely...

But what will MR commenters complain about??? :)

Honestly I'd even be okay with the 7 starting at $700 but with a 32 GB configuration just so people quit running out of space so fast. Wouldn't be surprising given that the Samsung S7 and S7 Edge phones cost more than the 6s and 6s Plus, respectively, in their 16 GB configurations.

Shrink the ****** bezel already and get rid of the home button. I'm not buying any more iPhones until they do this. The 6s is already good enough.

Also make it cheaper since carrier subsidies are gone. I'm not gonna pay $500-$600 for a phone every year or two.

Depends on what carrier you use and where you travel to. I use Verizon and they have TravelPass which allows me to use my phone in other countries for $10 per day. I'd say that's reasonably priced.

https://www.verizonwireless.com/plans/travelpass-countries/

I live where it rains a lot, it would be nice to use my phone when it's raining and not care that it's getting wet. Just because you can't see the need for something doesn't mean there aren't others who could use it.

Its like that here in Canada too for some carriers. But, cellular bandwidth is expensive - you can't just keep downloading all your data off the "cloud" at will - bandwidth limit will be consumed quickly. Cloud storage just isn't an option, where WIFI is spotty and while data plans are fairly expensive for limited monthly data allowance.

Oh boy, I can't wait, I've got around 400 videos, 10000 photos and 128GB starts to seem like eh-eh, so the 256 will be very much welcomed! Just try not to increase price, and by the way, I just can't imagine who would only need 16GB, even my mum has got 64gb with all her flower and cooking data in it :D:D
I remember this girl in front of me in the apple store when i was buying my 6s+ and the apple guy asked her which colour and memory she wants and her BF said to her '' 16 enough, 16enough, lets go '' and she took it, i thought i was gonna faint but yes, people do that.
Why do you keep 400 videos and 10,000 photos on your phone? Don't you back them up to a hard drive and/or cloud storage?
[doublepost=1464818386][/doublepost]
I have 13,000+ photos in my Photos library. Several thousand more that I haven't yet digitized or moved into Photos. I hate when a subject like the painted church in Praha, Texas comes up and I don't yet have the photos from that place that my father took in 1975 loaded into my library.
This is hilarious. The reason people are clambering over 256gb iPhones is so they can carry around every photo that they (and their father) took in the last 40 years? Jesus Christ. That is stuff that should be backed up somewhere, and if you like to have access to every picture in existence then put them on the cloud or create your own server. I just don't understand this mentality. I have several terabytes of media at home. I have hundreds of gigs of photos in the cloud. I'm buying the 32gb model in September. It would be ridiculous for me to start bitching about how I need a 10TB iPhone.
