The 6S has a little bit more than just 3D Touch. It has the increased RAM that you were miffed about in the iPhone 6, Live Photos, faster chip and 4K recording. I think it's a nice upgrade from the iPhone 6 at this point.

I thought you said you use the iPhone because it's the only device compatible with your work? If you claim to use an S6 Edge at work, what would be stopping you using Samsung for personal use?
Because the cost difference between the 2 makes me prefer the 7 more. Not to mention,I will take even a slight design change over nothing.

I used the iPhone because it works best with my Mac for all purposes.
Most of my finance work and spreadsheets needs a Mac so I can never entirely leave this ecosystem and getting the latest iPhone is a necessity if I want things to work together properly
The S6 Edge does work with my Mac but it just didnt integrate well as the iPhone did.I lose the message and calls functionality .S6 Edge also doesnt work with my Apple Watch.I only use it if I need to.

However, one may slice it, the iPhone 7 is an increment for those with post 2014 model iPhones. However, Apple is not charging a price for an incremental upgrade, they want the full ride. I for one, will wait it out until I get a much larger upgrade for the hundreds of dollars.

The smartphone market has certainly matured, there's no question. I have an iPhone 6+ and were it not for the gray bar problem, I'd be hanging on to my phone. I like it, it does what I need it to do and it looks great. I just don't see the huge advantage of the new screens and eyeball sensors, etc. If the phones had some phenomenal new feature that everyone was gawking about then maybe I'd pony up for a new one. But right now I feel like all the new phones are just incremental upgrades over their predecessors. There's a lot of options right now for smartphones.

I think we'll continue to see similar trends YOY. Everyone is on a different upgrade cycle and people are loyal to Apple will stay with Apple. It doesn't look like anything better will be coming anytime soon.

So your going to buy the iPhone 7 because it works best with your Mac but is inadequate as a smartphone for your needs?

And you bought an Apple Watch?

I'm glad I am not the only person who is very confused by this guy. If I had that level of dissatisfaction and distain for a company, I wouldn't be putting myself through the misery of buying their products. Then again now he's listed the issues he has with his work S6, I also don't understand why he is so overly enthusiastic about Samsung.

It is great marketing. And upon the release of the new ones, the students get rougher with their older ones. They kick it around or throw it at walls so they can get a replacement.
I feel pretty bad for their parents!
After Christmas, some more around for a couple of weeks cause they got a Moto G instead of an iPhone or some cheapo tablet instead of an iPad!

If my children did this they would get absolutely nothing in the future. Disgusting behaviour from spoiled brats.

But let's not forget that children are a function of the parents. So it's parent's fault/bad education.

IDK if iP7 sales will equal iP6 or iP6s. But I don't think they will be far off, + or -. Samsung just helped with their battery-related "recall." I think there are many iP6 and earlier owners itching to upgrade, and more than a couple android users will be temped by the dark side. Android phones are very appealing as a price-point option, and Samsung's latest hardware is inspired, if too rushed to market and limited by older android software that promises upgrade-slow-itis. But for millions and millions of users, the iP7 will hit hit the wow factor. Who cares if the hardware look continues or some dated headphone jack is removed? We all know it will be the fastest phone available with the least hassle in usage over time, including all important updates. And iMessage hit the sweet spot for messaging long ago -- what do we (collectively) use more -- and continues to add features we want but won't admit. The no headphone jack is a crack up to me. Wireless (that works) is what we all want for our headphones, and a lot of us will suffer through the transition. We've been through similar before. The rest couldn't care less. New is new. Let's go. It's only the tech geeks who set lines in sand and hold out for imagined valor. People out there -- hint, that's not this crowd -- buy what interests them and moves on. That's what I expect.

That is not really correct. I was brought up the same way as my siblings yet we are very different when it comes to looking after personal property. I think regardless of upbringing we develop with individual personalities too and sometimes people can be careless or carefree.

Count me in that confused group of people as well.

Smartphones have peaked say some, will iPhone 7 mark the slow decline in sales?

Expensive, a lookalike, same as the rather tired iPhone 6 series, this could mark a slow downward trend for Apple.

What say you?

Guess you were wrong.

I will continue to use what works for my needs.. and disregard the opinions of everyone else. Opinion != fact.

Life is short, if I waste all of my time worrying about everyone else, I have no time left for me.

You would benefit by improving your reading comprehension, once that's done it's possible you'd understand my post.

Is there more to understand?

I don't think Smartphones have peaked and I think Apple will continue to knock it out the park for some years to come just on this device alone. The reason being is because Apple has created the disposable mobile computer. Basically folks are locked in for 2 years and then they are ready for the next new phone. Phones are a necessity these days and I don't see something replacing that need anytime soon.

Analyst and Samsung Astroturfers who live in these forums want you to believe Apple is done every year because they want to manipulate stock and they want you to buy Samsung phones. Think about it.

Now that subsidies are a thing of the past, Steve Jobs brilliant move to conceal true iPhone prices has been revealed. For years he had customers duped to believe iPhones only cost $199. They'd upgrade freely until this ugly truth was revealed. Now that enthusiasm has faded, hit by the reality that Apple wants upwards of $1,000 it's no wonder the customers are looking for options.

Thanks to Google, Samsung, LG and others, mid priced Android phones are the emerging favorites. They offer excellent alternatives for mainstream consumers. Reasonably priced, very reliable and especially useful it's no wonder they're the mobile phone of choice once one steps outside of the well heeled communities that Apple sells to.

I'm flattered at the time you've taken to attempt to make it personal and say I'm wrong. When in fact I did not take a stance, I merely posed a question to stimulate a discussion.

I do appreciate your diligence and commitment to your own interpretation.

Anybody who believed the price of an iPhone or any other flagship phone was the price of the upfront contract fee was stupid to begin with. The iPhone has always been expensive and I've never known the perception as anything other?

LOL! We hear this story every new iPhone. Sure they may not sell as many but would you rather be Samsung

Poor Apple stock is rocketing over $4 per share while Sammy is in the toilet.

Who could have predicted today's events yesterday? Where was that crystal ball.
What? The fact that the Note 7 is dead doesnt mean the design wasnt the best in the industry.Lets be honest here, both the S7 Edge and the Note 7 were better than the iPhone in hardware .What the iPhone has going for it are software apps, battery life and integration

In particular, the S7 Edge screen is better than the iPhone 7 plus I have and the latter came out later in the year.2018 cant come fast enough when Apple switches to OLED

Although anyway I dont have the heart to defend Samsung after this latest fiasco. The best design in the world doesnt mean squat if it cant hold itself together without blowing up.

You know last time mobile phones got as thin as this, e.g. razr and slivr, Apple shook up the market with the iPhone. It was thicker and larger than every other phone out there. We might be in store for a change up like this again, this time it will boast 1 week battery for talk time, half a year for standby. Really what's next? We all knew touch screen was coming for phones, perhaps the next phone will be holographic or voice everything.
