Iphone 7 talk already? Lol. Okay, I'll jump into the fray. When it comes to future iphones, I'd prefer Apple go the glass on glass bezel free route. Who cares about thinner? Enough already. Aren't they thin enough? I'd rather see a departure from this thinness obsession. Do Something bold. Something different. Thinness also sacrifices space for improvements in areas like camera tech as well. I don't know about you, but I'd rather see that rumored dual camera that rivals dslr quality in the iPhone 7 than it being even thinner. The 6plus is hard enough to get a grip on as it is. Without a case, the damn thing is always in danger of slipping out of my hand...and I have big hands!

I hope Apple does something radical to the design next time. Perhaps finally incorporating liquidmetal and a curved sapphire glass screen without a bezel that seamless blends into the frame. That'd be cool. Wow us again Apple. We know you still have it in Ya. ;-)

I think people are forgetting that the thinner these phones get, the cheaper it probably is for Apple. So it's probably in their best self-interests from a cost perspective to get these phones as thin as possible.

Now for the self-interests of the consumer, that's another story.

Screw 6s buyers -- lets talk about the iPhone 7 (2016) ... Now 6 months from now it'll be 7s rumors so to screw the iPhone 7 buyers...... It seems like the analysts only like talking about the new iPhone for 2 quarters ( 6 months ) then switch to next model of iPhone happens every year ...

It's just a rumour, and a year out at that.

But if it does come to pass, I think apple has totally lost the thread. Thinner isn't at the top of anyone's wish list except lazy marketing departments. Lots of people are asking for smaller bezels, better battery life, better resolution (on the 4.7"), and a non protruding camera.

I'm up for renewal next year and if they're offering is just the same but thinner, I'll probably consider trying something else.

I would like thinner and smaller. I don't care about battery, it never runs out on me, i'm always near chargers at home, in the office, in the car, even walking around its easy enough to have a backup battery hidden in your bag which can charge your phone tens of times. Not sure why everyone has so many issues with battery unless they're all camping with no chance of reaching a charge for two days at a time...
A backup battery that can charge it tens of times. Ok buddy , so you have an external battery that can charge your iPhone minimum of 20 times? I hate when people exaggerate to try to make their point

Apple is an amazing marketing machine. Thinner=Less metal, Thinner=Less battery, Thinner=Less durability, Thinner=Less longevity, Less=More profits. now sell it as the next big thing. Perfect!

Well, I think I can speak for everyone when I say that this is exactly what we wanted to happen.

Nope, you can't speak for everyone. Only yourself. I for one don't give a crap about "thinness," especially since any case I put on it is going to render "thinness" pointless. I care more about features and performance.

Forget a thinner device. How about a bigger battery? The iPhone is too thin as it already is. I have to use a case with my 6+ just so I can get a good grip on it and not feel like I'm going to drop it.

If they are going to make a thinner iphone they should have Matte grip at the back of the phone so it doesn't slip out of your hand.
Yep. Same for the iPads. Having the same problem with both devices.

I don't mind so much as to have a thinner iPhone, as long as the total size of the phone is smaller. C'mon people, do you really think that Apple would make a thinner phone and have less battery life? They always improve the battery...at least a little bit at a time. I love the bigger screens, just as long as the phone itself is about the same as the screen. The mock-up pic of the "thinner" iPhone on AppleInsider does look good. Heck, probably the best look yet.

Imagine if Porsche (or whoever you think makes elegant cars) had vehicles that you had to put giant rubber bumpers around because their products had a tendency to lose control. You'd think that there was something wrong with the car, and you'd no longer admire the beauty of the product.

Having very recently switched from an HTC One with grippable sides to an iPhone with ungrippable sides, and having lost a screen this morning (yes, I had planned to buy one, and was shopping for one that didn't look hideous), the idea of a thinner iPhone fills me with horror.

SO if they can just make a phone the size of the iPod touch in all dimensions - with improved build quality and internals...I would be happy. Large phones are so passé!

They don't need to go thinner. The 6+ is the first iPhone I've had to put a case on because it's too thin without one.

Yup.

The 5 was good, but the 4S was perfect imho.

If this is true, I can't see myself being with apple in the long haul. I haven't invested much into the App Store and I am just getting sick of them thinking it's okay to make phones super thin and impossible to hold without a case.
