I will probably upgrade from my iPhone 6, simply because I really want the bigger phone. Guess I will be moving from "Tick" to "Tock," thanks to the "Hiccough"

I just realized that the MacRumors Buyer's Guide completely ignores the iPhone 5c/SE... why not include that?

I'll likely be assisting my in-laws in buying their first iPhones next week. We'll probably get them iPhone SEs. I know that right now the phone is 3 months old, so probably a fine purchase, but people who don't keep as close an eye on Apple as me could benefit from having the iPhone SE mentioned in the Buyer's Guide.

It is projected that there won't be a 64 GB version, only 32 and 128 GB (and 256 GB but possibly only on the 5.5" version). The incentive to upgrade from 32 GB to 128 GB will still be strong as 'only' $100 more gives you four times as much storage. You have to leave it to them, Apple is good at getting your money.

Before 128 GB was introduced, there were rumors of it only applying to the Plus model. I wouldn't put any stock in that. There is no functional reason why the regular model can't have 256 GB, so they likely will not differentiate there.

Here's to hoping they increase the base iCloud storage also. 5gb is a joke considering the size of photos and videos these days.

What gives you the idea that you shouldn't have to pay for iCloud storage? 5 GB is enough for most people, considering there are many things that don't count toward that 5 GB.

Why should your needs be the default? I pay for the 1TB of storage. Should my needs be default?

Makes too much sense for Apple to follow. SMH.
Would be a huge waste of money. Overwhelming majority of users don't need 16 GB, let alone 32, let alone 64.

Why would Apple give up all that revenue?

we all know they are going to charge nearly the price of the "old" 64GB one for it and call it the greatest thing offering 32 GB on a base model.

they should also increase the free storage or at least make it 5GB per device so one can at least back up their devices (excluding photos). their storage options are especially pathetic considering the new macOS Siera thing

I could use more storage. I download a lot of concerts and convert them to Apple Lossless, so they take up a lot of space.

The bump from 16GB to 32GB of entry-level storage has already been widely rumored by multiple Asian sources connected with Apple's supply chain, but confirmation from The Wall Street Journal makes the claim much more credible.

Not quite sure why a newspaper reporting a rumor gives it more credibility. I would trust sources directly involved in Apple's supply chain over a newspaper. Maybe the WSJ has a good track record with rumors, but it's still second hand information at best.

Innovation is so last year. Memory is the new reason to upgrade, readers.

"Look at me new iPhone 7 lads!"

"It looks identical to the old one"

"Nah, mate. That's just where you're wrong. This little gem has got no less than 32gb of memory!

"On behalf of all cynical non-iPhone users in the world who have had the audacity to ever doubt the ground breaking technology that is an iPhone with 32gb memory, I stand truly humbled"

"Cheers. Well worth the upgrade then, eh?"

With laptops & desktops coming out with default storage options in the multi-terabyte range it seems like a forgone conclusion that a phone should also be available in a similar configuration. Granted, the technologies are different amongst platforms, but storage is storage. A mass storage device the holds 16 Gb of data and another that holds 128 Gb can be physically the same size, so why aren't we doing that is beyond comprehension.
