we all know they are going to charge nearly the price of the "old" 64GB one for it and call it the greatest thing offering 32 GB on a base model.

they should also increase the free storage or at least make it 5GB per device so one can at least back up their devices (excluding photos). their storage options are especially pathetic considering the new macOS Siera thing
lol...I could actually see this happening!

I know we are all supposed to complain about 16 and now we must immediately start complaining about 32 gig as an option. My parents, however, were happy campers with their 8gig iphones until i finally convinced them to upgrade to the 5c 16gig phones. And they are happy campers and I am not going to try to convince them to upgrade any further. My daughter is a different case, I gave her the 5s with 16 gig and just the other day she told me that she has not opened her laptop since she graduated from college. she uses her phone for everything and she needs more memory. So use case is important.

For me, I have 64gig, but now that I am pushing more into icloud I don't really need that. With photo optimization and all my music living on the cloud, I am happy with 64gig, maybe even able to go down to 32 gig. More memory is good, but I sure do hope that Apple finds way to provide lower price point phones for those that want Apple but cannot the 6s plus with 128gig memory.

I'm gonna buy it simply because there's no reason for me not to now that my headset suddenly stopped working (except environmental concerns of upgrading yearly of course ⛽️) but there's not much other reasons so far that makes it an appealing upgrade from an iPhone 6s.

How about...

64GB
128GB
256GB

Not Gonna Happen. I am pretty sure is will be 32, 128, 256. You quadruple from 32 to 128 for $100, and then double that for another $100. Im pretty sure when 512 is dirt cheap we will see 64, 256, 512 or 128, 512, 1tb

Because it's meant to be a "free trial"?

since iCloud Photo Library is its own thing it would only be reasonable to make sure people can at least backup their device to the cloud without running out of space. again, not talking about the photos here

Even 32GB on the low end is criminal. For 2016 is should be 64/126/256.
Not even a reason to bother with 32GB

upselling

Now that the 32gb base model will be available two years too late, it is just in time for 32gb to now be a painful experience with live photos and 4K video

True.

But the phone was never meant to be permanent storage for photos and videos.

Having larger storage to hold more photos and videos is a band-aid solution at best.

The real solution is to get the photos and videos OFF the phone and keep them somewhere else.

If you can "fill up" a 16GB iPhone... you will also "fill up" a 32GB iPhone. Hell... I know people with 128GB iPhones that have them crammed full of every iTunes song they've ever purchased and years of photos and videos.

People don't know how to manage their songs, photos, videos, etc.

32GB base storage won't fix that problem.

Except for you know you... they TIE your icloud account together for Photos. So any photo or video in your library at least have a thumbnail on your phone.

The whole point of Apple doing that is so people don't have to manage them. That's their selling point on that feature.

I'm hoping for 8GB increments ...

32GB $799
40GB $849
48GB $899

Also, incremental gray scale options for colors: rgb(192,192,192), rgb(169,169,169), rgb(128,128,128), etc.

Then I can FINALLY get the storage and color I want.

My upgrade plan for my 3-year-old 5s is pretty simple: if the iPhone 7 has a headphone jack I'll likely go with that. If not, I will wait until my 5s dies. Upgrading only to have to drop another $50-100 on wireless headphones that won't last the length of an international plane ride is just not sensible.

People need to realise that Apple will just increase the price anyway. It's not like the new 32gb model will cost the same as an old 16gb. If you needed more storage, stop complaining that the base model isn't enough, and buy a phone with more storage!

People already don't buy the more expensive iPhone with larger capacity... and you expect them to pay an extra monthly fee for copious amounts of iCloud Storage?

Oh I agree... Apple does offer a great solution with iCloud Photo Library and local thumbnails. But people obviously don't know about it... and/or they don't want to pay extra.

That still falls under my headline of "people don't know how to manage their storage"

I wish Apple would run an ad campaign that said "never run out of room on your iPhone again"

But its extra monthly cost would still put people off.

Why not just one model for everyone. 1TB model. Oh and Apple should sell it for the price of the SE. That way people that want larger phones aren't punished for their preference ;)
I'm not saying there should be a model for everything. I'm saying it's ridiculous that a jump from 32gb to 128gb (four times the storage) is a $100 difference, and a jump from 128gb to 256gb (twice the storage) is also a $100 difference. The base storage should be higher.

What gives you the idea that you shouldn't have to pay for iCloud storage? 5 GB is enough for most people, considering there are many things that don't count toward that 5 GB.

Why should your needs be the default? I pay for the 1TB of storage. Should my needs be default?

Would be a huge waste of money. Overwhelming majority of users don't need 16 GB, let alone 32, let alone 64.

Why would Apple give up all that revenue?
Please, 32 should be base. 16 is a bad joke.
I get the revenue part but Apple should provide a fair experience and the 16gb won't allow it.

Sorry MR no one confirmed anything. Unnamed sources is not confirmation.

Give it a year before you're all complaining about 32 GB.

You don't need a year as 32 GB is already a joke. 16 GB was a pathetic insult form Apple but 32 Gb isn't much of an improvements. This especially considering how long we have been at 15 GB.
