Yea well my JB is scheduled for oct 11-17th. So I have some days left before they prepare it for shipment. Matte black seems to have reasonable shipping times in Germany still, in case I reconsider.
You can always wait until Monday to decide. There will be plenty of experiences with the Jet Black until then and as you said, if it proves to be very easy to scratch, you won't wait long for the matte black. I think in Germany it currently says the wait is 2-3 weeks long.

There are too many set up screens in the current iOS. It used to be so simple, straightforward and fast to set up.

Apple needs to make a stand on what features its products offer as default. Simple features should be set up from the get go. If users don't like them, then they change them in settings.

Apple's job is to make simple software and hardware. When it starts asking users lots of questions, then it misses the mark entirely. In some cases, new users don't even understand the questions or the context.

Whatever happened to it "just works"? Today it works, but only after a big unnecessary quiz.
Setup is part of any new electronic device. Be it Apple, Samsung or other. That's life.

Apple needs this... Apple needs that... rinse, repeat.

I believe he's using one of Red's 8K camera's, I think its called the RED Dragon, but I'm not sure, I just know it's one of their 8K cameras.

If it's actually 8K it would have the be the RED Weapon, that's their only camera that shoots 8K. It does use the Dragon sensor but a RED Dragon shoots 6K.

However I will say, I would be very surprised if that's what he's using. Seems a little unusual to use a cinema camera that costs $20 000 (as an upgrade, that's not a fully new body) for YouTube unboxing videos.

I have to ask myself; what state will those jet black phones be in the Apple Stores‽ You think the iPhone 6 Plus bending became a thing.. this will be loads worse!

they are most likely going to be all scratched up by curious people haha

You don't say, really? I know that, but anything more than three questions is a big problem. Choosing the type of haptic feedback on setup is unnecessary. Users can change this in settings. Why on earth do users need to choose their haptic feedback, is there not a default that suits most users?

Guys... This guy's point wasn't that there should be less options. It's that there should be less options in the setup screen. The boingyness of the home button does not need to be a new step in the initial setup process. It is an option that has zero impact on anything, unlike other steps like "Location Services".

I think watching the actual event for the unveiling of the iPhone 7 killed the excitement for me. It reminded me of a mattress commercial, and I cannot get that out of my head o_O

Touch ID is necessary on set up, but users don't need to choose haptic feedback on set up. Three or more set up options is crazy, it's not simple, it's not pure in good design either. It's just an example of an operating system being needy and unconfident in its presentation to users.

Exactly. There is the necessary stuff, and then there is the unnecessary stuff.

I wish I didn't have a jaded opinion about the entire unboxing video genre. I am looking forward to watching some reviews on the phones, but I am actually waiting for some low key bloggers to do their versions.
the jaded experience started with an Android fan doing the unboxing and then instead of seeing the phone 1st, Team Tim Cook put paper work? Apple was always about the presentation of the product you should see the phone first, and wrapping the earbuds with cardboard is a bit tacky regardless if anyone uses them. Apple was always about the wow presentation and package of there products. Reminded me of how Sony use to be

Great, yet another setup screen. They need to add a "I'll deal with this crap later, thanks" button.

As an admin who sets up lots of iPhones for end users, I agree. The setup process really needs to be simplified, either with less choices overall or, as ArsTechnica suggests, a few checkboxes or buttons per screen. Ars also suggests that some things could be dropped from the startup screens at this point, like "Display Zoom."

It's so annoying to me how entitled and spoiled some Apple users are. They want more and more features but yet don't want to set any of them up, they want everything to just magically know your preferences and how you want your phone to operate. Seriously, come on.
If Apple didn't offer this at set up then people would complain that something isn't at the setting they want and won't know where to find it buried in settings. I suppose Apple could just not provide choice and just decide for everyone what they think the optimal haptic feedback setting should be but people would complain about that too.

Anyone else slightly disappointed by the EarPods being in a cardboard frame instead of the nice case they came with in the 6-series phones?

Well Apple are giving you an adaptor which costs them 40 cents, so they have every right to save 20 cents on not having to provide you with a nice case for the earpods!

The earbuds used to come in a plastic case. My guess is Lisa Jackson is now heavily involved in packaging decisions and wherever they can get rid of plastic in their packaging they will.

I disagree.

The removal of the home button may be confusing at first, so the selection of the haptic feedaback to everyone's taste is a very important step that otherwise could remain buried in the settings. Probably, Apple will learn from people choices and remove the splash page in the next iPhone.

Absolutely not true at all. Some journalists at the event complained about not liking the new home button but changed their opinion once they had the phone and were able to adjust the settings. I'd rather get that out of the way upfront than have to go digging for it in settings.

I'm surprised MKBHD getting a pre-released iPhone 7, considering he's not really appreciative about iPhones. He always downplay iPhone features and intentionally joking about users to celebrate for finally getting that feature. He's a die hard Samsung guy and I'm sure he'll deny about exploding Note 7 and claim to be a new feature. SMH!
