Guys I have an important question. I just ordered a 64GB 8+ from the app on the US store from outside any of the launch date countries with a US based credit card. Do you think this will affec y order in any way? I’ve never done it before. It states my order status as “Order Placed”. Am I in the clear? Also I used a different email adress on my shipping info than on the billing info because I wanted my dad who is in the US to keep up with this while I’m away. Will this have any effect on the order? I know sometimes because of inconsistencies in shipping vs billing information the system automatically cancells an order. Anybody here with information to ease my worries? Thanks in advance.

Ordered my 42mm Space Gray Apple Watch Nike+ w/black sport loop in the first minute the store was up. Delivery was already pushed to 5th October. The model's delivery is now at 3-4 weeks while other SKU's are still shipping on Sept 22. Obviously this particular combo is VERY popular.

The Nike+ Edition delivery date was always slated for 5 October and not 22 Sep like the rest of them. There was a story on this site I believe noting that.

Just based on comments on social media and sites like this, the majority are waiting for the Ten. That's basically Apple’s true flagship model. It's cool tho. Hope the 8 buyers enjoy their phone. It's a solid upgrade for those with a 6 and below. But yeah, bring on the Ten!!!! :D

There was a lot of hype for the X, but I would say it's been cut in half since the launch.

The longer the pre-order delay, the less likely there will be hype to capitalize on. And less impulsive purchases.

Just pre ordered through Verizon for my mom. Her device is 75% paid off, just used the upgrade, phone costs about $33 a month, made me pay $70ish upfront. I guess that makes sense?!
Activation and first month on your new phone. Sounds right. There is no incentive or credit to keeping a phone past 50% paid off when it is upgrade eligible. As long as you hit 50% paid you can get a new iPhone, which is why the program is so alluring to those who update on launch every year. Like leasing a car, you pay a little more for less time, though you lose a percentage of return if you owned that car outright, then sold for private values. The benefits win, and you always have new, fresh, under-warranty property. Always get insurance!

You still used it for that 75% of your two year term. Looks right.

I feel you. I'm in need of two phones ..not as want...but need as in necessary. I was thinking of 7 plus..but it's bad with recording hissing sound. I'm no rush to get ip8 plus and note 8. I was hoping to wait for next gen..but my circumstance is that it's in dire need.
I’m on my second 6, my first one had a bulging battery, and I think my second one is starting to show signs of going down the same path. I have two smart battery cases that I blow through most days... I’m headed towards an upgrade, just not a pre-order day one launch. I’ll end up with either a 7 or 8 depending on how long this 6 lasts. I really think the X is going to be a guinea pig situation-at least from the aspect of third party developers navigating around the notch... I was going through the Tech Specs pages while waiting for the store to come back up and noticed the phrasing when calling out the spec for the display size, about Hotwire the screen rounds along the case, so it’s not a true diagonal, but if it were it would be 5.85”... I’ll wait till apps have time to adjust to the notch, at least the ones in my work flow.

Given the Chinese market is significantly larger than the U.S., that's nuts.

The Gold model was intended to target the Chinese market. Apple hired a managing director just for China.

Yeah, but on launch day you want to please your main target market. US, UK, Europe. Apple aren't number 1 in China and actually creating a demand from short supply could stoke the fire to boost more sales in future in the Chinese market.

To those getting 8 Plus over X, could you help a brother out on your thoughts to skip the X? It would really help me with my decision!
Also congrats on your purchase!
Cheers!

iPhone 8 Plus vs the X:

Identical CPU
Identical GPU
Identical RAM (3GB)
Nearly identical camera
Superior battery in the 8 Plus

Sure, I'd love to get it all in a smaller package, but it's not worth an extra $300 to me. Maybe if they'd thrown in AirPods I'd go for it...

Basically, the 8 Plus is the apex, the pinnacle of what an iPhone with a Home Button will ever be. Refined, tested and true. The X is a prototype, a cool trick that points in the direction Apple is moving, but will take a couple more models to get *just* right.

The base model 8 Plus is still $1200 after tax. For a phone I'll keep 2-3 years. If I spend $1500 on the X, I'll feel like I need to go the full 3 years before upgrading to get my money's worth. I'm trying to remind myself that this won't be the last iPhone I own, just my 4th iPhone, with many more to come. I'll have Face ID 2 years from now when it's been perfected.

Prices in Canadian dollars.

If you had notified your credit card company what you were doing and let them know to add an alternate shipping address for this purchased it wouldn't be an issue. I've done this in the past. Like today I let my credit card company know I would be making a late night/early morning large purchase. They noted it on my account and said it would be no issue. Sale went through without an issue.

Don't know how picky your credit card company is, but generally the charge will go through. I would call them ASAP if you can... They will note your account.

Pretty much all versions are still available for delivery 22. Sept in my country, I can't recall it taking this long before the phone's was sold out before. Are everyone waiting for iPhone X?

Actually if anything, the longer the wait...the higher the hype will be. It's similar to when the first iPhone came out. It was announced in January but didn't launch until the summer. The hype was off the charts by the time that phone dropped. It'll be the same for the 10. By the time late October comes around, the hype for that phone will be off the charts. Apple knew what they were doing

Yes, I am hoping that supply remains strong and that people holding out for the X break and submit to the 8. I've seen a few people say that already on here.
I'm starting to get nervous, either Apple has huge supply or they seriously miscalculated the demand for the iPhone X. Really hoping it's the first.

Got mine! iPhone 8 64gb space grey coming from a 6S 16gb and need more storage space, that was one of my main reasons for upgrading.

The main target is U.S. and China.

Last year, the revenue from China alone was bigger than Europe.

I hate to be blunt, but the UK isn't on Apple's radar. Look at where Tim Cook and Elon Musk spend most of their time during business trips.

Nobody cares about iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. It's great to see honestly. Shows that the greediness has a max. The same design for four years in a row, must be a new record.

Apparently... who wants to wait that long? Other than dedicated buyers.

Touch ID. I can unlock it much better when driving and much safer than Face ID.

That may be the best benefit of the loss of Touch ID.... If it stops people from using their phones when driving....

Anyway.... Holding off for the X. Is it October 27 yet? :D

I'm no expert but I would imagine they started production on the 8 a lot earlier than the X. I want the X too, but I actually love the fact that there will be a good supply of iPhone 8. This will turn a lot of people away from waiting for the X

I wish you could do a sim free apple upgrade program. Seems you must pick a carrier to get the upgrade program option.

Did my preorder through the app using the iPhone upgrade program.

Showed me a confirmation screen with delivery on Sept. 22 etc - but didn't print it or anything and still have yet to receive a confirmation email, though. Anyone else? Thought this was odd as that's usually instant.

Just for kicks - tried to put it through again - and the app tells me "my upgrade is pending". Also, I did the preapproval process and completed the checkout on the preorder in less than ten seconds.

Marketing simply doesn't work like that.

The longer you wait, there more competitive noise there is in the market. Unless there is no competition (i.e. Tesla), Apple faces real risk of a decrease in hype and attention.

I am coming from the 6 as well. I thought about the 7 but I am drawn to the wireless charge--- plus future proofing myself for next few years.

As for not being completely wireless that's to be expected. I get home early mornings- to not wake up mrs and baby I keep light off- and to not make much noise would be awesome to just drop it down on nightstand and not fight to find and plug in the cable.

I can certainly relate. I know there are third party cases (at least were) that enables Qi charging, ikea even had one at one point. What scares me out of it this go around is Apple limiting it to half of standard (7.5w to 15w). After being with Apple this long, I think you’re better off with rev. B, I bet next year they’ll be on stage with the new max charge feature charging at 15+. I guess it’s the chasing others (who didn’t exactly execute well anyway) but then jumping to where they should be the following revision. I know the idea of having my watch, phone and pods all charging on a single mat is a dream-especially when traveling (after my wife, and now 3 year old, I am looking at 2 watches, 2 iPhones, 2 iPads, and a MacBook Pro, all end up using every outlet in the room to charge... using a mat or two would be great). Best of luck to you and your decision.
