I'm all for a smaller + size phone, but surely they could've had some courage & kept the same size as the + & maybe put in a bigger battery, or you know, put a headphone jack back in!
Having both the 7 plus and the SE, i have to say, even though i love them both, the 7 plus is just not ergonomic. Ive never dropped anything as much as this device. It's just not a good size for a phone. This looks like the perfect size for a larger phone.
I hope the SE size stays the same and they manage a larger screen for it, but the plus size footprint is just not a good thing whatsoever. When they move on from the 6/7 form factor, hopefully, that footprint goes away with it.

so will the 4.7 oled be smaller ?

wonder when those will be released

Hopefully, the 4.7 goes away and a nice 4.3" replaces the SE in a similar footprint.

I've never dropped mine once, maybe you're holding it wrong, or maybe invest in a decent case?
Hell just so long as they keep the + model & put the headphone jack back in, it'll cause me less hassle!

This!

My 6S from work actually feels thicker and heavier than my iPhone 6. (7.1 mm vs 6.9). While an additional 0.8mm sounds like nothing, I'm still slightly worried that it might feel a bit thick at 7.7mm.
Exactly. The difference is minimal, but for me, not negligible.

Ironic, I know, but don't want a thicker phone.

Can't have a smaller overall housing and expect the components to fit. Something has to give. Thickness will allow the components to all fit, including a thicker battery.

Think of it like a city, NYC. Eventually there is no further room to spread out, so you have to build UP. That is what's happening here.

A case helps. I ended up putting it in a wallet type case so I could get rid of my wallet and wouldn't have to carry two large objects. A case does help. Peace of mind too as the thing is unwieldy. Granted I also carry the SE as my daily driver and very used to maneuvering it every which way with one hand.

But no, the plus size and the headphone jack must both die.

Very intrigued about what camera upgrades there will be, seeing the size change!!

I'd say it's more than "slightly" larger than the ip7, probably equal to how much smaller it is than the plus. I still think it's too small, there should be an ip8+, but I guess we will see an ip9+ in 2018. I'm bummed about the thickness, it will be ironic if it's thicker than the s8.

Makes total sense. Was hoping for tapered edges but I see the 8 (or X as it were) as the next starting point in design language. From here it will evolve.

Maybe someday we can have phones like Tony Stark...

That's a good analogy. I suppose it's inevitable, even Samsung did the same thing with the S7 and S8.

It's highly unlikely Apple Will have a 4.7 OLED model this year. Being this is the first year we're likely going to see OLED, it will be exclusive to the 5.8 inch rumored iPhone. Then perhaps in 2018, the transition will be having their entire lineup with OLED iPhones.
