I think it's clear now that Apple want to drop the smaller-larger paradigm and go back to having just one product. Fine by me!
Wouldn't surprise me if in the coming year or so, the SE model eventually gets a similar design upgrade to match the 8 while maintaining its smaller form factor, but who knows?

I've never dropped mine once, maybe you're holding it wrong, or maybe invest in a decent case?
Dropgate.

It's so easy to become famous these days. Just follow these steps!

1. Gather popular iPhone rumors from the internet
2. 3D print a case based on those info
3. Walla!! You're famous now! People thinks iPhone design has been leaked!!

No. Never trust these scams. Apple will never give out their top secret designs to random case suppliers. (unless they want to create buzz news)

Looks too big to use with one hand.
(I struggled with how to write that in such a way as it wouldn't elicit innuendo; I failed.)

So now they're famous? I suppose I could go back and read the article again to find out who jumped on to the A-list, but it's not that important to me.

Funny, I looked at it and thought "the regular and plus are so close to each other already, trying to differentiate with a device in between is silly"... =D
Ah! Really, you think so? I'm curious, did you find there to be a noticible difference between the screens of the iPhone 5S (4.0") and the 6 (4.7")? I felt there was a large difference between the iPhone 6 (4.7") and the iPhone 6 Plus (5.5"), however I didn't find there to be much of a difference at all between the iPhone 5S (4.0") and the iPhone 6 (4.7").

I feel like a 5" phone is the sweet spot between being large enough to feel like you have a lot of screen real estate, yet small enough to manage with one hand (my current 5.7" phone screen is so great for browsing and videos, but is unwieldy!). I feel that Google got it right with the Pixel (5.0") and Pixel XL (5.5").

Although, now and again I miss the size of my previous phone, the iPhone 5 (4.0"). I realize now the value of having a phone where I can reach all four corners of the screen with just one hand. :p

For christ's sake, why do they always think everyone wants an as big a phone as possible? This seriously needs to stop. At least give people a choice. (and for those coming in shouting that there are with the iPhone SE and the iPhone 7 nonplus: no, those aren't a choice if they are not equal in specs - which they aren't.)

It's all to do with the display nowadays and to view content comfortably display needs to be larger then what it was over decade ago. Obviously not everyone wants large screen, there are these who want tiny one, but I guess the number of people could be so tinny that phone makers don't even bother to make tinny display phones anymore.

I am hoping that it's the new size of the Plus, because I personally prefer the current size of the iPhone and is why I didn't get a Plus version.

Also, If they're going to make the phone thicker, there should really be no camera bulge. It should be flush with the phone if it's going to be thicker. Common Johnny Ive, keep it clean looking.

[Puts hand up] Me, over here. I'm 48. After I got to 46 my eyesight went completely and now I need reading glasses to see my iPhone6Plus screen. I've also read studies that say women prefer larger screen sizes to men. Love 'em or hate 'em there's a large group of people out there who want a large "phone".

Which brings me to another point. Why are we still calling them "phones"?
Many people have forgone having a personal computer and use "phones" exclusively.
The fact that it makes phone calls it misleading as to what it actually is.
The smart phone has become the personal computer of the 21st century.
When you look at them as personal computers then the large screen isn't as stupid put in a different context.

There is very little difficulty for these case manufactures to produce a mold and then manufacture a case based on the current rumored specifications. This happened with the 12.9 iPad Pro and there was multiple cases that came out ahead of the launch, and half of the cases were completely fake when the 12.9 iPad actually did launch.

Nonetheless, it is interesting to see what they believe the iPhone also may resemble come September.

A perfect size! that's what she says lol
Spending 3 years to come out a copycat of the ugly iPhone 6, 7 design... what are they smoking? can I have the same lol

The 8, as rumored and recently demoed via dummy unit, reportedly has entirely different physical dimensions (length, width, depth), a different screen size, drastically shrunken bezels and a removed home button (embedded), a completely different back material (glass), a completely different side material (stainless steel), tweaked side buttons and, not that it matters, but a reoriented camera module, too.

That's a copycat physical design? What did you expect them to do, release a phone in the shape of a cube?

How about (optional) 2-factor authentication for iPhone and Apple Watch. One only does unlock if the other one is near (and vice versa). Same for shutting down.

Thats nice, physical dimensions close to iphone 7 but with a display larger than iphone 7 plus? Count me in

That size would be perfect for me, the plus is too big but I'd really like to have more than 5'' display.
My only fear is about the price, if it is higher I may wait for another year until, hopefully, all their lineup will be bezel free

With this in between new 8 size, it makes sense to drop both the regular 7 size and the 7 Plus size. In that case the iPhone line would only be two sizes, SE and the new 8. Less fragmentation this way as well.
