Where is the clock going to go?

I think they should remove the carrier name from the top left hand side. I've never understood why the carrier needed to always be displayed in the status bar. Put the clock in its place, happy days.

Agreed
What about different reception Icon colours, white is on your own provider, and another colour (Any colour) for when you're roaming.

Something similar to touchBar, where small system icons/notifications would sit and be separate. instead of the odd mockup of the 3rd phone.

There's no space for the cell service indicator 3G/LTE or the Location arrow. I could see something like Bluetooth briefly showing/blinking when connecting to something like with Airpods and then be swapped out for battery or wifi.

Maybe there will some annoying scrolling in those top sections to see all the icons and you can set which are the defaults.

Whatever the top looks like and what the do with Touch ID- it is going to be a very interesting presentation to see how all of this comes together.

This is so dumb. Who cares about some random graphic designer thoughts on what Apple could do. Unless this is a mock-up based on a leak (like 9to5Mac’s mockups before iOS 7 was announced) who cares?

It is based on a leak. We know there will be a notch so it's reasonable to wonder how Apple will implement with the software.

While these concepts look good....I fail to see the point in making a larger screen if a portion of it will constantly have a home button on it. What if you're watching a video and want to go home?

Not sure on how to go home yet, but potentially swipe up to access a dock? Or swipe down anywhere to close the app? Obviously needs to work in conjunction with control center. Apple has some work on their hands. For videos, it will go full screen as it does now and the home button will go away as it's software.

Maybe I can get the Verizon out of my life

I’m not switching carriers so it’s always going to be Verizon and nobody cares who I have; get out of my face!

Maybe the camera cutout will be black to match the screen. If the display is OLED then black is preferred, because the pixels actually turn off completely.
I can agree with this. I never liked the white bezels anyways.

I'm torn on which version looks better. Part of me thinks that the status info at the top of the screen should be white on black background, separated from the rest of the active screen, because that info is generally helpful regardless of what you're doing on-screen.

But I also think there is some psychological trick to our brains that making the whole screen (minus the camera and sensor cut-out) the same background makes it appear larger.

But if you think about the cut-out in different use scenarios, like watching a full-screen video horizontally, i know I wouldn't want the edge of the video to be hidden by the cut-out area. It could be even more problematic with some apps where you might not be able to access that part of the app for input.

So it makes more sense that the areas next to the cut-out will not be part of the main screen, but rather relegated to device status info. Or at least that is my guess at this point.

Where is the clock going to go?
That's what I'm wondering. I am of the camp who says that the signal bars should be eliminated from the top, and replaced with the time (srsly, these days, only a handful of people really care about seeing the signal bars).

(full disclosure: this is not my own work! This is Rudberg's work. He's the genius. I just slightly modified it to get my point across.)

While (arguably) friendly and appealing looking, both the rounded screen corners and the notch present too many functional/practical compromises in my mind to justify their use. Compensating for awkward screen shapes with software is a terrible idea IMO.

I'm hoping they do produce an iterative 7s design.

Cool. One more chance for me to get one

In all seriousness, no one has been able to say yes or no to Touch ID yet
I don't take any of these alternate purchasing "threats" seriously at all. None of these people have heard Apple's side of the story yet and as we all know, Apple is the master of setting the stage and telling the story to make you want their latest and best product offering. The fact is that after their iPhone event and presentation, all of these Touch ID faithful folks will want the iPhone 8 even if it's Facial ID only. The problem is that Apple cannot possibly meet the demand so they will end up purchasing the 7s and pretend that it's what they wanted all along.

Interesting mockup - is there one showing the keyboard? right now I have no plans to pay $1000-1200 for any phone but looks like if they add the keyboard above the 'function' area you will have a far smaller screen than the 7S plus.

I am leaning towards getting the 7S which will probably please Apple as this will balance out their sales.

Maybe the agreement is already rewritten....
The agreement might be rewritten but thousands of banks and credit unions and retailers would all have to agree to it. It took years for them to all agree to Touch ID and Apple still only has about 50% penetration now.

I am wondering why we have not seen any leaks of the iPhone 7s and only the "iPhone 8"

Is it because they share the same formfactor, and the difference would be bezel-less & oled for the iPhone 8 and Home button for the iPhone 7s?
