Selling out must not be a Tmobile Thing. Lol.

this is at 10:30am Saturday morning.

The "S" models, which is truly what the 8 is, are usually never backordered with long delays like a new model launch. Last time there was a supply issue was the Gold 5s. The 3GS, 4s, and 6s were all very plentiful at launch. For the first time ever Apple is even selling the Sim free Unlocked version on day one. Meaning they themselves don't anticipate demand exceeding supply for the 8. Typically they hold back on an unlocked version for a month or two in favor of the carriers getting the available supply.

Now if the X is readily available days after preorder then there might be something worth discussing.

Hold your iPhone 6,6S, or 7 like normal. Swipe down from the top like normal.

Now do the same action but 2mm higher than your top speaker all one handed.

I agree with you. .3 makes a pretty big difference. Look how different the 4” screens vs 4.7” screens feel. I have small hands and can easily use the SE one handed, but even the 4.7” screens are two handed devices for me

8 is still readily available from U.K. Apple store BUT THIS IS A GOOD THING. I am happy for the 8 to remain in stock until the Pixel 2 is announced and then I can easily choose between them. Google’s launch will be the real failure, I predict they will go out of stock very quickly, which is bad for enthusiasts.

The only reason people are calling the 8 a 7s is because the front looks the same. Had there been no. Then the 8 would have looked different from the front. No way Apple's only phone in 2017 would still have massive bezels.

Dunno. 4 years ago I doubt anyone wouldn't have said that Apple would be pushing exactly the same design ....... the 8 is just a glass version of the 6

Dunno..... Apple has been very slow updating thier products , most the phones on sale have massive bessels ;) they built a better S8.....for double the price. Problem is they are not leading..... in this regard. Not to mention the mess that is user experience across the range , touch bar on some MacBooks, touchid on some devices , faceid on the flagship , some new computers come with assortment of ports, MacBook pros USB-c ..... it's a cluster **** . They need to go back to basics and sort out the user experience across the range .

Wireless charging is kind of BS, but fast charging is much more important, and what ultimately made me go for the 8 over the 7

Somehow I missed that the 8/X have fast charging. That does change my opinion a bit. Enough to want to buy, probably not, but fast charging is awesome.

Here’s Samsung Galaxy S 3, 4 & 5. Do they really look that different? I don’t think so.

How about the Galaxy S 5, 6 & 7. Look pretty similar to me.

a good the design doesn't need to be completely changed all the time. it helps with brand recognition. it's the same with cars. or if you wan't to look a bit closer, the macbook.

A day after preorder and you can still easily reserve for launch day pickup in most stores.

Demand doesn’t seem so strong. Wireless charging doesn’t make the 8 Plus worth $1000, when you could just spend $9-20 and get a qi case and call it a day. Considering most are going to put a case anyway.

You don’t even need a Qi case anymore. Just a pad that has a ribbon cable that plugs into the lightning port. Got one in my Apple leather case. Works great.

The article was clear, to the point, and reporting on what was going on at Apple's website. That doesn't make it a poor article or an example of poor journalism; it was also a short news note, not a full article!

Sure, some readers would have liked a more thorough look at several carriers as well (not just T Mobile, which doesn't prove anything on its own). But all that merely means is that the reporting was incomplete, not that it was *#^!}% journalism!

I can say the 256gb in any model and color is already 2 weeks out on VZW site.

Let’s keep in mind Apple probably has a ton of readily available inventory because the 8/+ shares a lot of commonality with the 6, 6S and 7.

And less colors are available this year which will certainly simplify logistics.

They were probably able to get tons of inventory built, boxed and ready to ship very quickly so there are no shortages.

And there is the factor of fence sitting now that the iPhone X is a variable out there.

The material those phones were made out of changed drastically. Mostly all the changes were done on the inside and the back. The iPhone uses a lot of times the same body and changes just the internals. Same goes for their Mac line up.

[doublepost=1505692971][/doublepost]I am willing to bet Apple sales will not be that good this year for the 8 or the X and will be down from last year. Mark my words.

The iPhone 8, is the same exact design, 4 years in a row now. It's tired and outdated already. Heck when the 7 came I out thought, not the same design again, but to do it a 4th time LOL Apple just trolling it's iSheep.

iOS 11 is even worse, design wise, it's the same thing since iOS 7 now. Still has that "Left the app drawer open" look with a screen full of app icons you can't place anywhere you like in the screen.

lol it's really not a problem. Want me to film it for you?

That ask wasn't even a good description of the issue. Really, comparing the X to a regular 8, you have to be able to swipe down from the upper left of the bezel on the 8 with one hand, to get a feel for swiping the upper left ear on the X. That ear is where either Control or Notification Center comes down from, not sure which. Most people cannot do that comfortably without shifting the position of the phone in their hand unless they have gigantic basketball player hands.

People having been saying this for a few years, but Apple manages to do more than ok. I’m betting some record breaking quarters.

FWIW, checked the Apple Store this morning, select models are now showing shipping times a week or two out. SIM Free models are shipping early October. I wouldn't be surprised to see some moderate lines on Friday (before I assumed it would be easy to walk in and buy an iPhone 8 from the stores on Friday).

It'll be interesting to see how iPhone 8 sales trend after people see long wait times for the X

Wow they removed the pickup dates in my country's AS. It was still 22 September up until yesterday.

Same here. Either lots of people suddenly realised apple have released a new phone or they have artificially cut off the "collect in store" to give that appearance.
