Why would apple add back in Touch ID, they claim it's far less secure.
1:50,000 vs 1:1,000,000

They would have to admit they lied about the security of FaceID by adding TouchID back in.
Does the average user need something greater than 1:50,000? I sincerely doubt it.

It's a pretty dubious stat that Apple threw out there and frankly sounds like something they just came up with to try and justify not having TouchID on the phone. Unless you have some crazy high security requirements due to your job or something I don't think anything is wrong with the efficacy of TouchID as a secure technology for the vast majority of iPhone users.

Yeah it's Flopping. Lol. This is at 7pm Pacific Time.

and I do want it to flop because I want them to focus on the X. Maybe if it flops they can ramp up production of the X.

One of the reasons it's "flopping" is because Apple was charging Full price on the 256gb Verizon Space Gray 8.

Now I want to wait until the X comes out and Carriers start giving more incentive on the 8's

Isn't this pretty much how it used to be until the 7+ last year? I got all my iPhones by release day if I preordered. Granted, I never waited all day to do it, so I'm not sure if they started running out later in the day.

Is a month an a half enough time for them to ramp up production and have a good amount of X's available?

I remember having to check the inventories every day for the 6S Plus when I was switching back to Apple. And that was like two weeks after launch when I started looking. And that was definitely I think one of their slower launches.

People are perhaps tired of the same design after 3 years and are not jumping over to get the new phone.

Both my wife and I are on 6S 64GB, while our older daughter is still on 6, also 64GB. Initially, I was all excited to upgrade (after all that is what most people do after 2 years), but after looking again at the new models and reevaluating our priorities, we will hold out for another year.
Both of our 6s'es had recently battery fixed (warranty), so the battery on each phone holds well. Our dauther's phone had a screen replaced at 3rd party store and while they were at it, they also had replaced the battery for dirt cheap, so all three phones are holding up pretty well. We are going to treat ourselves with brand new cases for each phones and sit out for another year.

Well it's 6:55 EST here and I can preorder an iPhone 8 plus, unlocked for delivery in a week or just over a week depending on color and capacity. That tells me everyone is going for the iPhone X in about a month.

I don't think the "real users" of iphone x would be that many since it is just too expensive, yeah a lot of people would buy and sell it like stock but...that actual user number would drop this time.

Or maybe they knew the preorder was about to begin but decided to sleep theough it?
I did the get up at 2 am (CST) pre-order twice... I'm so over that... IF the phone I want is there at the ATT store on release, I'll get it... If not... I'll wait.

And at this point, we have ZERO idea whether or not the 8/8+ is a failure... And we won't know for months. You'd think Apple would get this pre-order thing down and stock enough... They're already laying the ground work with "potential limited supplies" for the X...

Same design 4 years in a row + higher price = declining demand
In real terms, is the price really higher? And if it is, are you paying for the same phone as 4 years ago? No. "Moores Law" Only we're paying for the Apple Premium too...

How does being back ordered 1-2 weeks mean something is a flop? Also I’ve nevet had an issue ordering the phone I want on pre-order day.

It used to be so hard to get even you startry on the first second

Comparing to how it all sold out in first few minutes/seconds, this is a failure for sure.

Friend, nothing is worth greater than your life. Taking care of yourself is a priority.

Apple also criticized the stylus and then brought out Apple Pencil. This wouldn't be the first time they changed their mind on something.

In fairness, a stylus and Apple Pencil are two different things. The Apple Pencil is primarily for sketching and drawing on the iPad Pro. A stylus would be something that would be used rather first smaller user interface, similar to what the Note 8 would be and integrated.

Well, I only saw people use Apple Pencil to take note, basically show off.

Correct, the Apple Pencil can be used to take notes, but the iPad Pro is a larger template. It's not a handheld device to what the Note 8 would be. Hence, why it's not a stylus. It's more of a tool primarily used for sketching and drawing, but has other functionality.

Yeah. it used to be hard to order stuff, huh? like last few models. I agree, but this 8 series and x actually has a gap between. As of late, i'm seeing that flop is no longer an objective unless Tim announces another keynote with "farewell" theme...and Tim Cook says, "we're closing down." Otherwise, flop took a new turn and became a subjective. If you're happy, it's not a flop. If you're angry, you return and it's not a flop...or however you want to see it..heh.

I'm surprised they got rid of rose gold because it Seema like that was a popular color.

I'm pretty rose gold/gold will make a return.

From the sound of it they're having trouble manufacturing enough units to meet demand so it makes sense to just offer silver and black until production can keep up.

Wasn't the iPhone 4s in white introduced several months after the official debut of the iPhone 4s?

I wouldn't say flopping but there's little differences between the 7 and couple that with the fact they're still selling the 7, its the perfect recipe for a lower rollout
It seems not far off from the iPad mini 2/3 situation, slightly better with the A11 chip, but other than that what can you really point to that's a notable benefit over the 7 - maybe it's apple's intention for the 7 to continue as the mainstream phone at a more competitive price, I doubt they make a smaller margin on the 7 than they do the 8...

I wouldn't say the 8 is a flop, it's been on sale for less than 48 hours lol. You have to consider the iPhone 7 is still on sale and there isn't a huge difference. Combine that with the fact buying patterns have changed in the last 2 years where people are keeping their phones longer and general phone sales are evening out. This is also an 'S' year for many as the iPhone 7 was only released 12 months ago too.

We are yet to see if any of these devices are a flop and that includes the X. These devices are now a lot more expensive and the rule of economics suggests the outreach will be smaller than previous iterations in any case.

And they will be coming back once they realize the X is not usable with one hand. Reachability is gone and they moved the control center gesture to the very top.

Don't know what size your hands are but .3 of an inch won't prohibit me from using it with one hand.
