I get that, but that isn't Apple. It's the thin edge of the wedge. This is Apple fragmentation compared to a few years ago.
A few years ago, Apple was only selling as many iPhones in total as they sell of a single variant today. There's still fewer iPhones variants than BTO options for Mac.

you're missing the point. it's not magic, it's a business decision to increase margins. nothing more. they choose to not incorporate something into the standard in order to force buyers into paying an extra premium for a premium product. it's about greed, not entitlement.

The plus has always had a better screen, better camera and better battery. The fact you want a small phone to have the same features at a cheaper price screams entitled and it's not going to happen for you.

you are still getting OIS most likely and you are getting a better lens. You are upset the more expensive phone gets the best features, which means what again? Apple is greedy?

First off, Apple doesn't own any fabrication plants.

Second how long and how much do you think it takes to build a fabrication facility that can yield enough output to be worth the investment? Think billions and years.

Apple are risking billions already by falling behind the pack. Granted it's only a rumour but the iPhone 7 hasn't even been released yet and already there are rumours saying that not only can't they release an OLED iPhone in 2016 but you'll be lucky to get one in 2017 and even if they do you'll have to buy the Plus size to get it!

Who knows, by then maybe Samsung et al will be using 3D screens or something. The point being that Apple doesn't seem to be on top of things as much any more. Not like when they introduced the first high DPI (I refuse to use the commercial term Retina) screen in a phone etc etc.

Yeah but NOT military-grade OLED like Apple will be using.

What's military OLED?

Oh God seriously????? The ONLY REASON Apple would even think of doing this is to hike that price to ludicrous levels for all that extra ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££

It won't be a magical OLED screen, it'll be like any other OLED screen not made by Apple!

Oh look at us wonderful Apple innovating (getting out suppliers to innovate) we made a OLED screen but only managed to make a 5.5" size one..... What about the Apple Watch OLED screen then?
Erm cough the what?? Erm the iPhone one is magical erm it costs a lot more so has to be magical erm......

Better camera for no other reason then more £££ for Apple.

Better screen? No actually it's not it's just a higher res screen because it's bigger! It's not better at all.

Bigger battery?? Are you being serious? I don't know anyone who has complained abut the blindingly obvious that the bigger iPhone gets a bigger battery because it's a physically bigger iPhone? I am pretty certain the majority realise the iPhone needs to be thicker to have a bigger battery, maybe this years model will be 100 to 200mah bigger because of the headphone jack going, but we all know it needs more space physically for a better battery.

I say it's elitism if you expect a higher spec list just because you have a bigger phone bar battery size and screen resolution.

Of course it's greed. That's why I don't use any Apple product. I'm not a sheep. They have the gall to differentiate their product line by good, better, best. That's greed, pure and simple. I don't want to pay extra money for best. And I don't think Apple should force me to pay extra for extra features. In fact, I don't like how they force me to do anything. Tim Cook and Jony Ive need to go. I know I could run the company better than those two bozos.

Even though I am upgrading in a few weeks to the iPhone 7. This 'iPhone 8' is the iPhone we should have seen this year.

I hate to say it, but this is the first time in a long time where I am not excited for the iPhone 7, even though I am an avid supporter.

I'm hanging in there Apple.

Once you have it in your hands, let me know if you changed your mind... :D

Why are you people so sure that the 4.7" could house the dual lens without ANY compromise? Would the dual lens be worth a decrease in battery life? C'mon people, there are physical restraints to what can be done with current technology. Let's be reasonable.

Look at the number of MR commenters that have bought into every other iPhone 8 rumour BUT all of a sudden this one is just too out-there ... I love it, picking and choosing the rumours to believe and embrace and casting the others aside.
I completely agree. I wouldn't even trust 75% of the next iPhone rumors.

Because the word "plus" only means larger size to you, doesn't mean that's the only meaning to the word.

Apple will be well within it's right to release a plus model with more than just a screen size bump. If they want they can put a better camera, screen, processor or whatever they want, because plus doesn't mean just a larger phone.

The most common term or understanding of the word plus is to add more.

if those features, better camera and screen, were available on the standard size then i wouldn't complain. but if you want the better phone, you have to have a phone that's larger. the size does not inhibit the implementation of these features.

Apple is always greedy even in Steve jobs era, always. It does not change.
And the ultimate goal of every business is to squeeze every single dip from customers. They can use whatever they like, no matter the cost, to reach this goal. Business is destined to be greedy.
[doublepost=1471471682][/doublepost]Well. I will see.
OLED...are there enough other reasons convincing me to buy a new iPhone, and bite and swallow the lost of headphone jack? This one alone is not enough.
Business is destined to be greedy so why I am not acting greedier? Greedier than Apple. It is possible.

It should be noted that CURRENT OLED supplies are vastly outstripped by demand...but I'm sure this thread will be nothing but people bitching that Apple is being greedy.

How can it be vastly outstripped when there are no supply issues for CURRENT OLED phones on the markert?

Do you have any reference to back this up? Cause a quick Google search is not providing proof of this shortage

Ha ha ha ....... Yeah my military grade iPhone is awesome. Hope that was a joke.... ;)

Nonsense. Apple will stick with tried and tested technology. OLED is the definition of change for the sake of change in this case. Lots of work to put in to gain nothing.

Have you ever seen a LED next to a OLED Tv ? Or even a plasma vs a LED? I'm using a plasma cause LED is inferior ....

Have i seen fake colours? Hmmm, yes.

You are referring to LED ;)

ironically......just to keep it simple, you don't like your BLACK colours to be represented accurately. Cause Fact is that an LED black is fake.....and inaccurate. :) Hence why Plasma remained superior colour representation until the arrival of OLED.
