No of course not. They watch their competitor (Samsung) and make sure they're priced above them to maintain the "premium feel"

Not at all unexpected, thanks to Samsung upping the price on the S8. Apple and Samsung are like how Verizon and AT&T were, copying each others' moves jacking up prices, until TMo came along. Unfortunately, LG is not the TMo of the big three to put pressure on Apple and Samsung.
Yea.....with 85+% of the mobile phone industry profits, it makes tons of logical sense that Apple is looking at Samsung when it comes to pricing

When I see posts like this I always wonder whether it's Apple testing the waters or easing people into the idea.

B. Easing people into the idea.

Might as well let people wrap their little minds around some big numbers now to maybe squash the inevitable/typical griping about features and calls for Tim's head.

Nothing about public reaction in a niche forum effects Apple's pricing on any level. They know where they need their margins to be and price accordingly. And you can bet the Place Order button will be pressed in record-setting numbers.

This is going to be SUCH a painfully slow burn between now and the time users actually have devices in-hand. Ugh, I'm already exhausted.

Really. Do you honestly think Apple will keep its current pricing on the base 7 and 7+ which is under what Samsung charges for the S8 and S8+?

....no, they'll bump those two down a tier just like they've done with every iPhone when the next generation comes out.

That's obvious.

$999 US is about $18,900 MXN, or a week in the Mayan Riviera with my girlfriend, all inclusive... -.-
But a week in the Mayan Riviera is gone in a flash. The iPhone 8 will last..forever...
Wait maybe I've got it backwards.

I meant keeping the current pricing on the iPhone 8/8+ which will be under what Samsung charges for their pair of 8s. Currently the 7 and 7+ are $100 less than Samsung S8 and S8+, not accounting for the storage difference which is 64GB on the Samsungs.

I just do not see Apple ever undercutting Samsung on pricing their flagship models.

The reason why Apple can do this today is because no one, except the handful of suckers who buy unlocked at full retail and think they are beating the system, will see it as $1000. It is $49/mon for 12 months, then trade up and continue.

(TRADE) is the meaning for suckers, SINCE ITS NOT YOUR PHONE UNTIL YOU PAY FULL PRICE FOR IT, you are just renting it, once the phone is back in their hands they can refurb it to someone else, people who pay full price at retail are smart since its unlocked and they don't get in a stupid contract.

Yes but what about the selfies?!

iPhone 8 OLED selfies will no doubt be more colorful than his memory in 50 years.

And selfies are forever. Especially when they're in the cloud. ;)

My question is...

You can buy a discontinued iMac for less than that and is a productivity tool. Is there a way to have an iPhone to work as a productivity tool with a keyboard, wireless mouse and a monitor connected? Lets say to edit in Adobe Premiere something I would in a 2012 iMac.

Remember when the original iPad was rumored in the $1,000 range and they released it at $499? With all of these high pricing rumors swirling, there's a significant opportunity for Apple to come in below the guidance. A $799 or $849 price point would look great after these rumors of $1,100.

Component costs and margins may make that difficult, however.

I want the s8 style, "bigger" screen on the non plus sized iphone with the plus camera. Take my money.
