Apple's greatest strength in my view is how seamlessly iOS and macOS integrate. If you use Macs then an iPhone is a no-brainer. Yet now Apple's iPhone doesn't plug in to their laptops without an overpriced adapter cable.

From "Insanely Great" to "Insane" since Jobs's death.

you're totally right. they integrate perfectly.

i can't remember the last time i needed to plug my phone into my laptop for any reason other than a charge.

it makes sense they'd offer USB A in the box. currently, that plugs into more things.

As the phone becomes larger, it has to become thinner in order to fit into the hand as easily as before.

Yeah, the Newton was a bit thick to hold single-handed, but sometime between then and about 4 years ago that ceased to be an issue.

How they solve every problem, buy a small company working on the solution and pass it off as they own. The ifans lap it up and believe they invented it. Touch ID anyone? Lol
Why would I care? I only care about the final product quality not the way it was developed.

Inductive charging works well for what it is and has the ability to rapid charge. It's not that bad an option to have. If for some reason you don't like it, then just plug your phone in and you won't have to be bothered with wireless charging.

As the phone becomes larger, it has to become thinner in order to fit into the hand as easily as before. So making the iPhone 6 thinner was making it more ergonomic and useable, even if it meant a protruding camera. It's a case of "form enables function" here, rather than "form over function".

Making it thinner doesn't make it easier to hold. The iPhone 6 is like a slippery eel to hold.

A contoured back or using materials like carbon fibre would make it easier to hold.

You guys really sound like fkg idiots using a non sensical term like "jet white". Jet (as it refers to color) is a form of black. Calling something jet-white is as stupid as calling something snow-black.

Is it really that bad? I have the 6S+ and I have no issues using it with one hand.

Unless something terrible goes wrong with your phone, you really don't need to plug it in.

They are trying their hardest to make people mad.

1. Adopting a gimmick charging system years after everyone else.
2. Not being able to plug the phone in to a new MacBook Pro out of the box.
1. Despite many Android phones have wireless charging, I never see any of them included any wireless charging base in the box, and I never see people actually use wireless charging.
2. You are assuming all iPhone buyers are new Macbook Pro users, and only charge their iPhones off the Macbook Pro. Reality check, most users use the included AC adapter/powerbank, and those have regular USB-A slots.

I rather have my phone come with a cable that is compatible with 99% of charging accessories out there, than with a cable that is only compatible with few high end laptops.
[doublepost=1486955244][/doublepost]If all of these were true, my only beef here would be the exclusion of the lightning to headphone adapter.
The rest is not even newsworthy. I don't see any Android phones that include wireless charging docks in the box. I also don't see Android phones that have USB-C only cable. The all have USB-A on the other end since that is still de-factor port on 99% of power adapters/power bank.

Wireless is good, and a pad is just fine. It encourages incremental charging - if I have to plug mine in I often don't bother even though it sits next to my laptop at work all day. If I put a pad there I'd be much more likely to keep it topped up.

Finally someone who gets it.

The "but I can't use it while it is charging" argument largely goes out the window since your average charge will be way higher than with a wired connection that you only bother plugging in when the battery is actually getting low.

The loosely-translated report suggests the wireless charging will not be a built-in feature, but rather a separate accessory based on technology from Luxshare,

Wait a sec...so Apple's idea of "wireless charging" is to connect a dongle to the phone with a wire that will allow you to receive power wirelessly?

Wireless charging...with a wire and dongle. *shakes head*. Timmy is running out of kool-aid.

I agree with five-years-ago Phil. If wireless requires a pad, I don't see the point.

Same thoughts here. I think true wireless charging will take at least 3 to 5 years from now to accomplish. Even a company that recently was in the news (forgot the name...) stating they had true wireless charging came up with the solution that you need to use a case surrounding a smartphone.... so that's also not included within the hardware. But it is a little step closer tough to enable the 'real thing', transmitting power by air....

Ah well, we'll see. I'm in no hurry. I'm very satisfied still with my iPhone 6 and as long it works well I don't see any point spending hundreds of euro's for a new one to begin with.

Everyone should start saying jet white just so we can get more posts like these.

Interesting rumours, and I have to hand it to Apple for aiming high and going all out on this. Will it be the right decision? That remains to be seen.

I have to be honest, the number of times I actually plug my iPhone into my Mac/PC is... well.... rare. I think I've done it a couple of times in the last few months, purely to quickly export photo's as I don't use iCloud, and just wanted to import into Apple Photo. So loss of a cable in the box doesn't entirely concern me.

But despite all that I feel we should probably wait and see what ACTUALLY gets released before taking the pitchforks and flaming torches to Cupertino. We're like 6-7 months out of a potential release anyway - even with some leaks, it's not possible to know the entire picture.

Wow, really nice! There will be a lightning - UCB-c cable included in the iPhone box... It's outrageous that you can't connect an iPhone 7 and a new Macbook without buying a cable apart. Why the hell Apple is still using the lightning port on iPhone (maybe even in the next iPhone generation) and not directly a USB-c?????????????
