Happiness comes with expectations. Most of our expectations are measured by what we know and already is on the market today. If those expectations aren't met in reality you'll get disappointed. The reality today is that a premium brand as Apple doesn't deliver what most of it's competitors are doing for years. So you have to ask yourself why are you paying so much money when you could have the same for far less.... that's the question you should ask yourself (myself included). The question to ask Apple: why are you selling old hardware for todays prices and why are you asking premium prices because you set expectations to premium as well.

Why ask questions and why wait years?

Just purchase one of those much better devices that have been available from competitors for years and finally find happiness with met expectations. Courage...

Then maybe the latest greatest iPhone is not for the rest of you? The iPhone 8, like all other flagship iPhones, is a luxury item. I couldn't afford a Mercedes so I got a Volkswagen. But I don't blame Mercedes for being priced out of my range.

Your point being? I am pretty sure I already made it clear I understood this. I can say companies charge too much all I want, you can say they don't .. it doesn't change anything, it's my personal belief.

Apl will always give you just enough:

Well, I'd put the 32GB version iPhone 7 in the same league as a C300. Easily obtainable for $45K. That's pretty average for a mid-scale car. Near luxury, not luxury. Heck some pick-up trucks cost that and more.

Most people choke at > $30K on any vehicle... the difference for Apl products is even though the "should" choke at a >$800 phone > $600 ipad and >$200 watch and > $100 TV and >$2k mac they don't because they accepted he overpricing pain long ago and have "invested" so much in apl tech that the average household with a strong Apl patriarch has lots of old and new Apl laying around. The thought of leaving the "investment" behind is daunting so they just "accept " the price increase and carry on...its a lot like a bad marriage.

People in bad marriages are generally miserable. Is there any evidence that iPhone users are miserable with their iPhones?

It is not about sense, it is about value

It is not greed. Apple already has trouble meeting the demand. If the new iPhone is much improved and harder to manufacture, they have no choice but increase the price to balance the demand with ther production capacity.

Believe what you want, if someone wants to be suckered into paying hundreds more so be it. The value isn't there for me, Apple sells a smartphone just like many others.

No. Still same geometrical frame but different design. You know.... not the same iPhone 6 for like 4 years in a row. All phones from all phone makers are square but they have different designs. The user you quoted have a valid point. Apple is a lazy ass when it comes to redesigning their products. They get away with just a bit of home button change and antenna bands change and call it redesigned.

I do agree it's time to refresh the product line. And I think this is the year the changes are coming. I think Apple soaked up as much as they could with three generations of the same design. I enjoy my 7 Plus. But I am ready for the next iPhone. I'm confident Apple will have something refreshed in September.

Why are you ready with a new phone you just obtained around $1000 that is not more than one year old for another +$1000 phone ? Should that not satisfy you for at least 2 to 3 or 4 years? Whats the deal you just need new constantly? Is it the rush?

I will say if so that is a recipe for life dissatisfaction. Think about the unnecessary waste of new devices every year. Or is this just add a phone to monthly expenses deal x family of 4.... House, car(s) , expensive phone(s) devices...rent expensive phone monthly for life plan

I don't care about price. I want the iPhone to continue to be very the best smartphone money can buy, and I'm willing to pay any price to ensure it remains at number one. Price considerations should never hold back innovation.
Well....it should have some consideration. No use making the phone if you price out too much of the market.

What does satisifaction have to contribute? Your believing a rumor about a $1,000 iPhone? Even so, most take advantage of payment plans or Apple's upgrade program for that matter.

I personally upgrade annually, being I have the opportunity too. Others are ready for a refresh, some retain their iPhones for years. As long as Apple continues to release a premium product, that's what matters to me. For me, I'm ready for a new device. Not everyone has to share my views.

I'm not implying anything, I'm just starting that hopefully I'll be able to make it past 2PM on a single charge. I've personally never met anyone with a 4.7in iPhone whether 6, 6S, or 7 who uses their phones, that made it through an entire day from 8AM to 11PM on a single charge. Mine is typically on ~20% by 2PM. Yes, I believe iPhones should be thicker with a larger battery and I believe most people would be happy with that.

my 6s plus lasts me all day on light usage, but it makes me nervous when the battery goes approaches 30%.

I'd be happier if they would have made the phone as thick as the protruding camera ... not sure if that would add much battery, but anything helps.

Ask Mac users... later in 2018 ask iPhone users
I'm not sure the loud bloggers bitching about the state of the Mac are representative of Mac buyers broadly. I'd like to see some actual consumer survey numbers before I accept the premise that there are a significant portion of people who only buy Apple products due to intertia.

I am not sure about the user you have quoted but I do sell them after a year. I take care of the device, keep all the original packing on mint condition and the device just like a brand new. Unlock them for free from my network and a month before iPhone get released, I sell it on eBay. And I get back up to 70% of what I have paid. It suits me that way. Nothing is wasted and I enjoy every year the latest.

That being said, iPhone 7 was the first iPhone since iPhone 4 that I skipped.

So "rush" check.

Oops, you forgot to answer my questions. I understand though. Anyways, You can find me standing in line at midnight for the new release. See you their!

As for $1000 + phone absolutely I believe it..they did BIG, Two cameras so now X model for top end. In some "new " must have color like XBlue. With three models more high end tiers... 8, 8+, X

Satisfaction... to many is getting value and not over doing it.

Anyhow Surface Pro 835 LTE device will be out day before so that line may be empty

Right, but the analogy is luxury/near luxury, not average. My example clear said mid range, which is what a C300 is, just like a 32GB iPhone 7. Neither are sold as value models.

Your example is a bit off. Apple long ago detached other Apple products from the iPhone. You don't even need a computer anymore to update or back it up. People stick with the iPhone not because of the $ investment but the time. They are familiar with it. But if it ever became truly unaffordable, people speak with their wallets. The iPhone is expensive but manageable. Go to any middle school -- middle school! and you'll find kids with iPhones, and recent or current models, not mom's old 4s. That speaks volumes to the iPhones relative affordability and desirability. It's not cheap, but it's not a Maybach either.

I am enjoying my current iPhone 7 Plus but I can't wait the release of next iPhone. :)

Oct is the great time for change. :) up to USD $1,000 is still acceptable for me. :)

I have no idea what you're rambling about. Regardless, you appear very agitated at others decisions to enjoy Apple products. So why you express your disapproval for "Satisfied" customers supporting new and upcoming products, you can continue to sulk on a thread that you appear discontent with.

You asked for answers I gave them.

You have a very particular set of personal acquaintances. Most people with a 4.7" iPhone posting here at Macrumors report that they make it through a day with some room to spare most of the time. And you can be certain that people that not make it through a day are more likely to report on it than those that do.

And rest assured that if your 4.7" battery lasts from 8 AM to maybe 3 PM, it would need to double in size to make it through a whole day, which probably meant something like a 3 mm increase in thickness.
