My guess is that the "Tablet" will be capable of using Sprint, AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile. I really don't see the iPhone being on any network other than AT&T and possibly T-Mobile until late this year or early next year.

iPhone + Sprint simply everything plan = WIN
I have no issues with Sprints network here in NYC so I'm hoping that iPhone comes to sprint

My buddy works for sprint in their corporate division in virginia and i can only say a couple things the iphone is coming to sprint and verizon also talks have been in place for vodafone(owners of Verizon) to buy sprint nextel one of the agreements that apple has with sprint is their exclusitivity with palm they did not renew that contract because sprint has already started rolling out their
4G network apple is currently testing on sprints network u will find out more very soon !!!!!!!!

Verizon+Sprint-Nextel would create a wireless powerhouse that AT&T would have a hard time competing with.

I think Verizon will snatch up some smaller regional carriers first like US Cellular, but if AT&T looks like it is making any sort of play for Sprint, Verizon will jump on it first.

My guess is within the next few years we will be down to Verizon and AT&T. Verizon will buy Sprint-Nextel and if that happens AT&T will go after T-mobile. The bad part is rates will increase with the loss of any major competition and the big two will drive the entire market.

hmm, i'm pretty sure the FCC will step in at some point so I doubt we are going to see Sprint gobbled up by VZW.

there is no way that a customer rep is going to have that kind of information. I highly doubt, the iPhone will be heading there.

I can't take anything seriously when it's written with such preposterous grammar. Seriously, I'm only saying this as a friend, but learn to write. Your post seems written by someone that's bordering on illiteracy.

Now, when you say "illiterate", do you mean it in the same way as the OP did in this thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/852193/

See, the reason that it can't be taken seriously is because of the source.

"Some call center girl" isn't a good source. As others have stated, there's no way some low-level call center girl would know such a huge piece of information before any credible sources would know it.

Oh yeah, "My buddy" isn't a good source either.

This thread is just as bad as Verizon to iPhone threads. To the OP, you're in for a rude awakenng and I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you

Yeah, well my dog's cousin's owner is Steve Job's bestest friend and he says the iPhone is being completely discontinued!

HAHAHAHAHA sorry. I can't really ever see that happening. Just my opinion. I think Sprint is terrible.

And what's so terrible about it? The plans are easy to choose, and on top of that, they're a lot less expensive than any of the other carriers. Customer service? I've never had any issues with them. If you're talking about reception, that's a local thing. In my area, AT&T and T-Mo are horrible. Many people hate it, but switched just for the iPhone.

And why do you want to go and burst someone's bubble? I've been dying for an iPhone for years, but I'm not willing to pay 50% more on my bill just for that (the lousy reception and horrible customer service that left a bad taste in my mouth 4 years ago doesn't help either).

And who's to say that girl was just a lowly rep? I called for a technical issue late in the day, and usually I get people that actually know something at that time. I know my OP says I called about a contract expiring, but I don't think y'all care to hear about the storm we had that's caused my phone to be in roaming, and all that went along with that.

I'm excited about it, and I'm saving my upgrade for it. If it doesn't happen, I guess I'll be settling for a Pre or Hero...blah.

OP, these guys are gonna bash you one way or the other. I posted a few months back that the iPhone was coming to Radio Shack and the manager told me face to face! There was 2 pages of people posting that "Radio Shack managers don't know anything.." "The iPhone will never be sold at Radio Shack.." BLAH BLAH BLAH. Well today I went in to Radio Shack, and lo an behold, they are putting out the cases for the iphone section they are going to have. The manager said that the phones should be in there with in the month, if not then, then the first week of Feb.

Reps do know what they are talking about. Put it this way, I was in Verizon back a few months ago, and I went in to get a case for my Samsung Omnia. I told the rep and he went to the back (because the ones on the shelf I didn't like) to get me a selection. He brought back out 2 regular Omnia cases and an Omnia 2 case. I just looked at him, because according to, I don't know, EVERYONE, that phone was still up in the air on what exactly it was gonna be called, and what company it was going to. Well it was obvious that there was a Omnia 2 going to Verizon..

So YES, reps DO know what they are talking about for the most part. They have NEVER steered me wrong. Most of the time, the reps are meant to be hush hush about things like that, because it could possibly cost them their job. Apple fanboys do not want to think about the precious iPhone going to anyone else. These SAME guys are also the ones who said that the iPhone was not going to Verizon, but from the looks of things, that is exactly where it is headed.

Sorry to burst your bubbles guys, but you have just as much inside info as the rest of us. (Unless you have a rep to slip up) I think that the iPhone has just as much of a chance to go to Sprint as Verizon, and hell throw in T-Mobile while you are at it.

Oh yeah, did you guys know that they sell the iPhone at WAL-MART?!?!? OH MY GOODNESS!! Of all the PLACES!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA:rolleyes:

Edit: For all the people that said that reps wouldn't know anything before a credible source, well you are right, so what has your "source" been hiding from you? Do they HONESTLY tell you everything? Would you bet your life on it? My guess is no. and, I still don't understand why a question can not be answered nicely. If you think the thread is stupid, move along, if you agree, then post something about it, if you are judging him by his grammar, then you need to go to obedience school, because my friend, you are just RUDE.

Sprint would be my last guess...so few rumors of it, and it doesn't make much sense. They are the smallest carrier currently and use a different 4G.

I'd guess

Verizon(all the rumors, plus they are the biggest carrier now)
T Mobile(tech wise, its an easy jump, just need some new 3G bands, but they are a smaller market)

An internal memo from Sprint management, sent out on January 27 verified that the I-phone is indeed coming in June.
Apple previously hedged that they would make the I-phone available on Sprint due to their better preparation, or technology, for the newer I-phone capabilities. ATT is lagging behind, so other carriers, including Verizon, are indeed getting the I-Phone this year.... :)

Sprint and iPhone in the fall (Hye-Jynn)

Analyst: Sprint Nextel may offer the iPhone in fall

AT&T Inc. will have plenty of company selling service to iPhone users in the second half of the year, if analyst Tim Horan at Oppenheimer & Co. is correct.

In a note to investors this week, Horan wrote that he thinks AT&T’s (NYSE:T) exclusivity on the popular Apple Inc. device will end by midyear and that all leading providers will jump in. Horan predicted that T-Mobile USA Inc. would be the first with the phone during the summer, with Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE: S) arriving in the fall, and Clearwire Corp. coming on board in 2011.

Overland Park-based Sprint is majority owner of Clearwire (Nasdaq: CLWR), based in Kirkland, Wash. Clearwire is the vehicle through which Sprint is rolling out its next-generation wireless service, which promises faster speeds.

Added carriers would increase U.S. iPhone sales by 15 million to 25 million units a year, Horan wrote.

Some analysts expect Apple to announce the coming end of iPhone exclusivity in the United States on Wednesday, when the unveiling of a new tablet computing device is expected.

On Monday, Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) reported a 50 percent profit jump, fueled in part by 100 percent growth in sales of the iPhone to 8.7 million units in the quarter.

Being able to sell the popular iPhone could be a boon for Sprint, the nation’s No. 3 wireless carrier, which has been struggling to turn around customer and financial losses. About 545,000 net wireless customers left Sprint during the third quarter, which ended Sept. 30, contributing to a $478 million loss. The company reports fourth-quarter and 2009 earnings on Feb. 10.

Sprint ranks No. 1 on the Kansas City Business Journal’s list of the area’s top public companies, with 2008 revenue of $35.6 billion. :D

Wednesday passed, and still no announcement.

I don't know about Sprint - they have pretty terrible service once you get out of metro areas and more than about 10 miles off any major highways, but it the phones can be made to work (surely they can) and Apple gets the marketing leverage they want, I don't see any reason they WOULDN'T want to hook up with Sprint if it turns a dollar.

Verizon is probably likely, but I'm sure that also depends on the marketing agreement Verizon is willing to accept.

Sprint users roam on Verizon for free. If you have Sprint your coverage is as good as Verizon's coverage for much cheaper.

More useless speculation. I am willing to bet the CDMA iPhone will be as real as the Powerbook G5. If they were looking to move to other carriers, they would've put the iPad, a device with no exclusivity, on both networks.

Because you need to get a higher minute plan since your free m2m minutes will take a drop

Sprint already gives you free calls to all other cell phones ("Any Mobile, Any Time") plus their nights & weekends start at 7 PM by default.

In terms of pricing and features, Sprint absolutely murders AT&T. My Sprint plan for my Palm Pre is $69.99 - getting the same features for an AT&T smartphone would cost $108.98, and you'd still lack the free calling to all cell phones.
