this is insane. I hope everything will work out for you eventually.

Unfortunately, I had signed for it.

She immediately called her supervisor as soon as we opened it because now it needs to be removed from showing as delivered.

Finally, Apple picked up. I explained it and the guy (very young sounding) has put me on hold. It has been so long, I have to assume he is talking to his supervisor or something.

At this point, FedEx and Apple should work it amongst themselves. Call up my local Apple Store and have one held for me to go pick up tonight.

I have work I need to be doing not sitting on the phone with FedEx and APple and now my police department (FedEx asked me to call them).

The guy who works for me part time at my auto repair business also works as a shift leader for fed ex hub ...if it was in fact stolen by an employee they will know. There is absolutely no way that phone got out of the building with out their cameras seeing it. They have an overly strict policy on theft and fully enforce it. He was telling me they fired a guy and had him arrested fro steeling a roll of toilet paper from the employee bathroom.geeeez

At least the FedEx lady will be able to verify your story instead of making you look like you are just trying to scam another phone.

I feel your pain man, good luck. it may take weeks before you get it replaced with fedex. i hope Apple will step up to the plate and send you a replacement until they figure out the legalities.

but you have time to give us a play-by-play?

I think Rush Limbaugh stole it. You know he really wanted an iPhone4 today.

Seriously, that is a real bummer. I hope they catch the culprit.

Wouldn't they be able to tell who stole it if that person tries to activate it? Ie...Apple knows what phone was sent to you via some sort of serial number. You would think that Apple can flag that phone now....like they do when people steal macbooks from Apple stores.

Just a thought.

Assuming the IMEI is in the AT&T system attached to your account, it should be really easy for Apple/AT&T to trace the phone as soon as it's activated. Since an average person would know this, I suspect the phone will be fenced on Ebay.

I had an experience with FedEx and Apple once where something was stolen. I bought a Macbook Pro and it was shipped via FedEx. I received the box stuffed with gatorade bottles and packing material. I wasn't the one that signed for the package, otherwise I would have opened it on the spot. I then called FedEx and they sent someone out. They said they had to do an internal investigation and they would get back to me. 2 days later I got a call from the head of security for FedEx at the airport. Apparently they were able to find out who stole it and when through video cameras in the facility. They then contacted Apple for me and Apple contacted me. They sent another one out on the spot via Next Day Air. I guess FedEx reimbursed me for the purchase price through Apple.

It's pretty hard to miss the front door where I taped it in plain view. Here's the kicker though, the driver put the notice right over top of the signature sheet.

Was the note taped to the inside of the door or out. I learned the hard way waiting for the 3GS last year that the note needs to be on the outside so they can take it. I had mine on the inside so it didn't fall off

Well, I just got off of the phone with Apple.

They are not going to make me wait for all of their investigations-- they will work on that with the carrier.

Unfortunately, sending out a new iPhone is not so easy. They have a lot of paperwork to do to make sure that ATT doesnt think I have two contracts, and some other stuff that quite frankly I didn't really get because at the end of the day the nice manager can't tell me when I will have a new iPhone because it is not just some product he can just have them ship out.

So... there we have it. I am pretty upset really there is no other way to describe it.

Outside the door, because I have a storm door which locks. Trust me, I had everything good to go lol. FedEx is telling me because of the contents they will not leave it regardless of the authorization sig page. I'm just trying humor myself about the whole thing, guess I'm really growing up.

Seriously hoping it works out.

Yeah roll your juvenile eyes--

Sitting on various holds for Apple alone over the span of an hour gives me time to type a "play by play."

I'm with ya dude, sorry about this happening to you. I told Mfear "Yeah because its sooooo hard to type and be on hold at the same time."

Ok guys I'm good, atleat I think so.

By some divine miracle, FedEx left my package with my neighbor, and man she is Halle Berry fine lol, looking forward to go pick up my package after work, and maybe some dinner lol.

Mine wasn't stolen but the Fed Ex guy left mine on my porch even though I didn't presign for it. I'm kinda miffed about that though...
