You guys must not think fedex and ups drivers are having a field day with this. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't all trying to get a couple of these things..

I have your iphone, and will give it back for $1million dollars...

just kidding man, hope everything works its self out..

lmao:D that was pretty clever.

I know for a FACT that they can let you pick up the replacement product from an Apple store. The reason why they could not do this for me is because I bought the Macbook Pro through the ADC (Apple Developer Connection). Since ADC is different than the Apple store they could not help me. Its not like they have more reserves to phones. A store manager can make the call on that. They are the only ones besides corporate (i believe) that knows how many phones they have before launch morning. Normal store employees are not allowed to see or know anything until 30 min prior to the store opening. That includes all iPhones and iPhone accessories.

If you can't get the guy on the phone to help you like you want just have him call his boss in to talk to you. Run that thing up the chain. Someone has to be smart enough to know it is a judgement call at the store level, not at the call center.

Well, I just got off of the phone with Apple.

They are not going to make me wait for all of their investigations-- they will work on that with the carrier.

Unfortunately, sending out a new iPhone is not so easy. They have a lot of paperwork to do to make sure that ATT doesnt think I have two contracts, and some other stuff that quite frankly I didn't really get because at the end of the day the nice manager can't tell me when I will have a new iPhone because it is not just some product he can just have them ship out.

So... there we have it. I am pretty upset really there is no other way to describe it.

So they are making you wait.

Contact customer relations and have one put on hold at the Apple store for you to pick up tomorrow.

The END

That sucks and is really unfortunate. I see this from time to time with Verizon phones. We get a can full of freight the handlers unload the can and load and behold--> freight shifts during flight/or truck transport and it gets crushed and stuff falls out in Memphis/Indy/Oakland where ever. Maybe someone was trust worthy and is sitting safely in a managers office waiting to be re-united.. But again some idiot has it in his pocket...

I think I saw you called Fedex and filed a claim. If not do it now!!! I also saw you called apple as well--> so you got the ball rolling! I hope good comes out of this and fast. One thing that helps and correct me if I'm wrong that the courier coded it up as a damaged package... Did she? SAVE YOUR packaging. Throw nothing away!

Again I hope everything comes out positive for you and don't get screwed!

This thread is insane... I found it by searching on google... only to find that someone has experienced the EXACT SAME situation that I did earlier today...

I'm curious if you phone passed through the same fedex hubs that mine did? I'll send you a pm on my location and what not...

I haven't been this PO'd in quite some time...

I dont see why its apples responsibility to get you a new phone immediately. Your phone was stolen by a fed ex employee. It sucks it happened, and im sorry it did, but it does happen. Im sure fed ex has insurance that will replace your phone, and apple is more than willing to send you a new phone and work it out with them, but there just isnt enough phones to go around right now.

I know your angry and upset, but holding apple responsible isnt going to get you a new phone any faster. If fact you should be thankful that apple isnt making you wait while an investigation and insurance claim are followed though at fed ex.

Its called good customer service. IMO they should be rushed a phone if this happened to them. Imagine if it happened to you.

Wow, I feel sorry for you, but i'm pissed as well.

I left a pre-sign sheet taped to my front door, only to just find out FedEx left a sorry we missed you notice, WTF!!! LOL. I mean the sheet even says FedEx, just plain laziness on their part. I'm about to call and let them have it.

doesn't matter if you leave a note for them. unless you're there, the decisions lies with the driver. if he/she believes it's an unsafe place to leave the package, he/she wont even if you have a sheet releasing them of liability

I was told by Apple that they would replace my phone, but that it would ship by July 14th...

I too opened my box with the FedEx guy still in my driveway...

He handed me the box with the "signing pad" on top of it. As soon as I had signed for it and gave him the signing pad back, I noticed that the box was incredibly light to be housing anything more than air.

My box had 2 of the cardboard "ears" ripped off and one was folded back over and there was a yellow sticker put back over it.

The FedEx guy then had me resign as "damaged - empty box..."

He then called someone locally who told him that because I had signed for it that I would have to deal with the "Company (Apple)."

You know somebody yesterday posted that they noticed on their tracking page that their packages weight changed. Can't remember what thread it was in, but that would be one explanation for a weight change.

To the OP: I hope you get this sorted out quickly. Total bummer.

my weight changed too....but went from 1lb to 2 lbs

OP stop being a push over, Call Apple, Press 0 when the Operator answers the phone, Ask to speak to CUSTOMER RELATIONS.

They will transfer you.

So--- serendipity or good karma-- I am not sure which

My original reservation was never canceled at my local Apple store. I believe I called them yesterday or Monday so the fact that they didn't cancel it since we had a decent conversation about it-- is rather surprising to me.

At any rate, I called and emailed back the Apple manager I had been working with and before he called me back he had already talked to the store to validate a phone was there.

So-- right now Apple Online is refunding me-- and they canceled the replacement. I am now waiting for my eligibility to reset and my phone is being held at my local Apple store by their management until it resets.

I am pleased with this solution-- it is fair I believe. Hopefully ATT will reinstate eligibility before the 72 hours..

And it is a heck of a lot better than waiting for next week or up until July 15th.

Are you serious??? I am also in NC---

Mine went through Raleigh.

That sucks, man!

The one piece of tape holding mine closed was not put on very well, and even purposely had a pinched together part on the end as a tab for someone to quickly open the box and gank the contents.

This didn't happen to me, but yeah--my packaging did not look or feel secure in the least.

I know this was addressed to the thread starter, but I thought I'd respond.

I don't feel that it's Apple's responsibility either, to give anyone that has had this happened to another FREE phone either... But they are the ONLY ones that can actually do anything about in a timely manner.

The big kicker with this too, is that FedEx will only reimburse the original sender. So, with that being said, it does fall back on Apple to make it right to their customers now and get themselves taken care of on the back end.

There's way more to it than that as well... The Apple customer service rep that I talked to offered to refund my money, but that puts me in a really strange situation... Because I only paid $299 for the 32G iPhone 4 since I was due an "upgrade" through AT&t.

If they refund my money, then what do I do... AT&T see's it as I already used my "upgrade" so then I'm left having to pay another $699 to buy another phone.

It's a crappy situation all around. Thieves suck... I can only wish really bad things happen to the one that stole my phone!!!

Yep there is insurence on the package! However it'll be both Fedex and apples responsibility. Apple is the shipper their account. Fedex will pay to apple. Apple will be the one who will replace the phone. And if they find the idiot who stole it then there will be alll kinds of legal actions (it's insane)!
