Just to note. In September 2022, I posted about how they increased the price in the UK, and received a bunch of replies about how the GBP was weak against USD and that Apple would likely cut prices if GBP strengthened.

4 years later, GBP has risen approx 25-30% against USD and I have not seen any price cuts.
Hence my comment...

Not always. Sometimes the price is lower on the same exchange rate situation.

iPhone 18 Pro (256 GB): $1199
iPad mini (256 GB): $699
For an extra $100, you can have 1 device instead of 2 and half the storage of the 2! What a steal!! (sarcasm)

Back on topic, I can certainly see how this device appeals to certain users.

I was not expecting IP68

I've been asking for an Apple foldable for ages, and now I'm kinda intrigued. Not sure if I should hold off for 2nd gen or just go for it.

I have a Moto Razr+ and I freaking love it.

If that's the case, buy it from the US store. Or if you have a friend in the US get them to do it and send it to you.

It’s way too expensive for me, and the lack of a telephoto is a deal-breaker.

But goddamn does that thing look slick. The iOS and app-level adaptations look to be exceptionally well-executed.

This is a piece of tech that really drives home that we live in the future. That mostly means things suck, but the consumer electronics is like the stuff from cyberpunk sci-fi. Re-L’s folding tablet from the anime Ergo Proxy comes to mind.

I just watched one of the first hands on videos and you can technically see the crease. It's very subtle but it's there. Also the in-display camera is much more visible than it was in the keynote.

AUD$3499 in Australia. International pricing is subsidising the lower than expected starting price in the US.

Not to the degree the A$3499 price suggests as that includes VAT while advertised/posted U.S. prices do not include sales tax.

People need to stop directly comparing advertised/posted international prices with U.S. prices as those international prices often include VAT, GST or other types of purchase taxes while the U.S. prices do not. You can't blame Apple for what local governments may charge in purchases taxes.

AMAZING. As someone who stopped using an iPhone 7+ years ago specifically to use a foldable phone I've been waiting for a long time for this. It completely kills the Fold 8. I'm so freakin' happy they also were able to squeeze in Magsafe and pencil support sounds crazy good.

My only gripe is I WISH they would make a full size foldable, not the tall/narrow crap Samsung makes but something with a cover screen at least as tall and wide as an iPhone Pro Max. Maybe/hopefully in the future because I'm sure the day will come where they need to raise prices again.
