iPhone Duo: Pricing, Pre-Orders, and Release Date Announced

I can appreciate all the tech at work here. But it really pivots away from the concept of a phone for me personally. People have different needs but while it’s super cool I just don’t know how id use this in practice. My life and work is simply too boring.

I really want that foldable. But on the 18 PM I'd be giving up that variable aperture, Face ID, a camera, no pro controls or Apple Reference Image. Bonus, it's available soon and not in October.

I'll admit it looks cool, but the price is a non-starter for me.

Unless my TMobile has a good upgrade promo, I'm keeping my 14 Pro Max another year. The Duo is really cool if it is a reliable device. I would wait a few months before buying one just to be sure.

So it’s smaller than a standard iPhone when folded but yet it won’t fit in unit pocket?! That makes zero sense. I have a pro max which which goes in my pocket.

They said thinner, not narrower.

I’m getting the 512 in night sky. Apple is offering $850 for the 17 PM trade in. Thankfully pre orders are a month away. It gives time for me an evaluate carrier offers.

I can see why people think this but I also think we’ve been so conditioned in the past to think of a phone as a device to call and text people on. However, it’s so much more than that now, it’s more like a very capable computer with a phone as a feature.

Good to see a starting price of $1999 in the US. Sadly the pricing in my country is equivalent to $3160, that is more than 50% of the price in US. Not going to buy one especially when it has got inferior cameras than my 17 Pro Max.

Strange though, as the AWU4 remains at £750 (in US $850), so not the same exchange+VAT+duties pricing...weird.

Your phrasing is interesting. We may carry devices around called iPhones, but they haven't been "phones" for decades. These are generic "thin client" type devices to manage your life and cloud services. This device can likely replace a ton of Macbook uses for many people if they tweak their habits a bit. That's pretty beneficial if portability is important. It doesn't need to replace the Macbook Pro uses (for example, heavy video of local AI crunching), it can be valuable if just to replace the Air, the iPad, and the iPhone. Those three separately can easily cost around $2000.

Apple loves you for saying $2000 is a bargain for a phone. They have a $3,000 “Ultra”version coming just for you next year. We anticipate that to be a “bargain” as well.
