yes you are an idiot for posting the pictures (and mods I am just answering in the affirmative to his own question).

Its now world wide news:
http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=622022

You are lucky that the response has been positive rather than negative. And that, if true, they were only testing the phone.

Have some thought before next time you 'just post some pictures on the internet'
Posting pictures can have some consequences - have a bit more of a think about that first. Take some responsibility for your actions.

Excuse me ?

I am an idiot for posting some pictures ?

Are you pissed that they weren't on your phone ?

Wow thanks for the attack.

I guess I figured that the photos would be of interest to the wider iPhone community and it would appear my guess was correct given the hundreds of thousands of hits across the Internet. Unfortunately yes it was a risk to post them but if it's judged to be in the public interest then I think the decision was the correct one - at the end of the day the girl in the photo is ultimately responsible for her actions.

Take a chill pill.

Omg!

Haven't you heard what the Chinese government said about their gymnasts, it's the asian body style that makes them look so young. ;) :D

OMG!:

At the end of the day you are also responsible for your actions - that is, posting someone else's picture on the internet which may lead to various consequences for that person. Luckily it appears its not serious for her.

Use your head, man. She was not the one who took the photos. At most she is responsible for not ducking and hiding from the camera, and yes, mugging for it a little bit. (On the other hand, what would be the normal reaction if someone you knew started snapping pics of you working, or, for all you know, was pretending to snap pics.)

Any negative consequences for the worker wouldn't be even mostly your fault. The photographer is mostly responsible. I argue the rest of the responsibility falls more on your shoulders than hers, but I concede that this point is debatable.

Heck, you made a mistake perhaps that has only small consequences thanks to luck. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes, this one just happens to be rather public. Instead of trying to convince yourself you didn't make a mistake, own it, admit you got a little lucky, and move on.

Pink Uniform?

I wonder if the guys working in the factory are required to wear those pink uniforms too. j/k :)

Eh ?

You reading my mind or something - I can state without a shadow of doubt that I do not regret this in anyway.

I do not buy this is part of a test/qa test either - they would have no reason to set the homepage photo surely ? In addition would they not have a test card to photograph to allow them to monitor the quality effectively.

I think this was a deliberate action taken outside of the agreed processes and that makes it fair game in my eyes.

Anyway I don't really care what you think - by far the vast majority have been supportive.

Faces to cold tech

I'm very late to the party on this story, but I have to say I really LIKE this happy accident (if that's in fact what it is).

This kind of thing puts a human face on an otherwise cold and human-less product. It's refreshing to see that a real person, and a cute one at that, worked on the iPhone. I'd be thrilled if something similar happened to me with a product I bought. Congrats to the OP for sharing this delightful pic with the world, and a big hug and a THANK YOU to the iPhone girl, wherever you are.

Apple marketing should be paying close attention to this.

Are you on effen crack?? Why WOULDN'T the girl be fired?? I don't believe "Take pictures of yourself flashing peace signs and leave on the iPhone for a potential customer to see." is in her company handbook. :p

With that said, would I fire her? Hell no, as this seems pretty harmless. If I was her manager, COULD I fire her? Most likely.

If that girl did get fired it's entirely her own fault. You think Elliot Spitzer is going around blaming his *********, photographers, etc for his resignation? no, because it's his own damn fault. :p

i agree, that is quite creepy... to open what you just purchased and find someone on it already... and you were expecting something "new" un-used... it is why you did not buy on some second hand / used iphone sites...
what if the worker had not a "pleasant" face or pic saved on that iphone? would you not want a replacement? if this pic has been posted on thousands or millions of iphones, would it not cause mac a heall lot of productive hours?

it seems quite un-ethical

Eh ?

to even say you made a mistake puts the burden on apple.

this should not be tolerated unless the customer expected something like this.

it wasn't your fault... i go with you. the pic is yours as far as IPP is concerned, and you can do anything about it.

and you;re famous. lol

I am heading to China !!!

At least we all know fact that all Iphones has been tested " No Doubt". That cutie chinese girl will be my future wife. I am just about get on the plane heading to China. I will ask her to marry me..hahahaha..no jokes!! I got time and money to do this

if she doesn't like me then,, oh well, at least I can bring back to you guys a true story if she is still working in factory or not...fair deals huh

so wish me luck ... got to go ... my flight depart in an hour to China.

Thats brilliant! I think it would be great for every Chinese worker who makes your iPhones to take a snap of herself or her factory friends. Build bridges, make connections, a hello from a person you would never otherwise meet. Globalisation in practise.

I was thinking the same exact thing!
How cool would it be to buy things and find pictures of the workers. Even outside of iPhones I think it would make an item seems a little more special and nice

This Just In

Sources say that "markm49uk" was the person who actually took the photo. After meeting Sum Young Girl on Chinesebrides.com, the mid-aged Britt found his way to South China and the popular foxconn assembly plant.

What Sum Young Girl did not know, was that this savy english man was actually an industrial spy. Unfortunately for "markm49uk" the plan to discredit the foxconn factory backfired and Apple has seen an increase on the New York Stock Exchange from all the free media exposure.

More details to come...

you are 傻B!

She's lucky she's cute

At least she's cute.

I agree. She's cute. I think apperance is very important in this case. Imagine what'd happen if she was instead a pervert-looking middle-aged Chinese guy. People would be complaining to Apple and that guy would be hanged already with his body chopped up and stuffed into a Chinese dumpling.

thats awesome!

I don't have an Iphone yet
still have my blackberry.
But if they included a pic of the person that made it and a few pics of the area and whatnot, I think it would be cool. Nice marketing gimic.

It would make me want to drop my Blackberry, sooner :D

LMAO!
- sorry folks, goes with the occupation.

Personally, I think it was a funny pic. I would have loved to have one on mine, maybe some hot Chinese guy.
Either way; if you don't like the pic and think it was horrible then you could always delete it - or you could leave it on as a cool wallpaper. It's not life or death here people. Life is short, lighten up.

Wish mine came with one! Guess I'll just have to wait until Mac realizes what a cash cow this could be. .. are you listening oh great and mighty Apple Gods?!
For now I'll just cannabalize the pic of Happy We Work Long Time Jane there and create a wallpaper for my brother. I'm sure he'll get a kick out of it.

China is a communist country.

I'm sure they killed people (and their families) for less of a reason.

I think this guy hardly know China. What he learned the China is from the western media's distorted report. What you think about China is just incorrect.
If possible,I suggest this guy travel to China.I am sure that what he images is far different from real China now.
