we are paying a minimum of 70 bucks a month to AT&T yet people who went and got the iPod Touch are enjoying the benefits of the upgrade. $330 (starting at) phone and we have to continue to wait to reap the benefits (whatever they are by the way) without any knowledge of when they will update. (besides by the end of the month what a crock) talk about leaving your customers in the dark. This is my first dealing with an Apple product.. no wonder Gates is the richest man again this year.

this whole waiting thing is fun to me. i bet i'm not even going to be that pumped unless some crazy unknown thing comes with this update. i only need one keyboard and i only buy music from the itunes store when i'm lazy. i just like the anticipation. call me crazy.

Uh, yeah, oops. I've been translating PDT, CDT and EDT so much for several days I've lost all frame of reference. Poor Mountain, no one ever remembers Mountain. Anyway, I think it's a moot point by now no matter the time, as it's not coming out tonight.
You sure that's an update or change? Apple's Start page has said the same thing for like two weeks, not mentioning any kind of "coming soon".
If someone mentions the 2nd Oct. Starbucks date again I will scream. It's a very limited roll-out. They won't hold the update for that. And Jobs said "later this month", and Apple on Monday reiterated that with "later this week". The week ends Saturday; the business week ends Friday. It will be by Friday or it's flat delayed and has nothing to do with the minimal Starbucks roll-out in two markets. In fact the update is likely to make it out Friday and for some unrelated reason the Starbucks roll-out be delayed due to technical issues, rather than holding the update for the Starbucks thing.
As for cron job guy, like you think you're so cool. Cool is collecting all our e-mail addresses and having your cron trigger an e-mail to all of us who aren't quite so crafty!

You're not missing much. I returned my 16GB iPod Touch for an 8GB iPhone. The store is cool, but no video, just music. It's cool and kind of fun, however, I am more awaiting the additional features that are supposed to be included in the update.

Yeah. I think everything on this thread has been posted at least four times; I think I've even posted the same thing twice a couple of times. It's funny how the mood has changed: like being shipwrecked together in reverse; at first snarking and fighting over every scrap of food, now just sort blah despondency.
They should change that Money article sub-head to "This Friday at 5pm PDT's update". If the update comes out today, I'll eat one of my Crocs. Or try, anyway; they're pretty tough. Or one of my wife's Crocs, and where's she worn them, that actually may be risking my life. So I'm pretty sure not today.

I say apple will release the update today, only because i don't think apple has ever liked the idea of a weekend to begin their update. But i have no source, so no need to "truth" me
