I think AT&T/Google Maps are having some serious issues following this update.

So far Maps has said I was in Minnesota and Philadelphia at the same time, it keeps wigging out and jumping from one to the other..........

For the record I live in Salt Lake City, UT, so it's only off a couple thousand miles or so.

UPDATE: If I do directions from my current location then all of a sudden it shows me in the right state/time zone.

i can't get this software update to work. itunes gave me an error (unknown error - code 9) and then told me that the phone was stuck in recovery mode. it has done this three times now. i'm not too sure what to do next.

it finally installed, rebooted and then gave me this:

itunes could not connect to the iphone "iphone" because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000001)

am i the only person experiencing these problems?
what could i be doing wrong? i'm running itunes 7.7.1 on os x 10.5.4

Same thing happened to me when I tried, so I deleted the downloaded update file, re-downloaded and installed again and it worked.

Anyone else who updated notice the fresh scent of pine?

Im still getting random Safari crashes, but it sure smells nice!

I still usually either can't make a call at all or get dropped while on 3G after applying this update so it's the same as before. Thankfully I can use edge so I'll be turning off 3G once again. This update did nothing to fix 3G issues.

iPod App

I was just reading on AppleInsider and they pointed out a new change to the iPod app.

The transition from the text to cover flow is a fade now

Not anything groundbreaking but just thought i would share it:)

Ha Ha Ha Ha... excellent! :)

um, question... Why do you have a link in your signature "Why I won't use an iPhone!" but yet you are using one? i am confused?

Well I now get 3G reception in my office (in NYC) where I did not before. Too bad that I get the error "Cannot connect to server" when using safari and Mail never connects.

Yeah.. sweet update:eek:
I told you guys that it will not fix all data access issues. AT&T provide not only the network bandwidth but also DNS servers. I think your issue is similar to what Canadians on Fido had for a couple of days. Put pressure on them to fix their network like Fido did with their own network.

it sounds like i'm the only lucky one. Here in Boston, my iPhone got 0 bars of reception in my apartment. I had to go outside to make a phone call. Now I have full bars, and calls are crystal clear.

*Edit I have a white 16gb iPhone

Or, he still doesn't really get "service" so his iphone isn't pulling an IP off the network? That seems to be the more logical assumption.

1.1.4 = bad reception at home
2.0 = good reception at home
2.0.1 = bad reception at home
2.0.2 = the jury is out

Boo-urns. Bring back 2.0 styles.

It will be interesting to see if my iPhone will drop calls or not with this update while I'm driving on Wilshire Blvd passing the Los Angeles Golf Club. With 2.0, it never dropped them. With the others, they drop ~95% of the time.

I haven't really noticed any other changes. On a positive, no Apps have crashed yet, as some of them did upon opening (Radius, CannonGame, Dizzy Bee, Toy Bot). It also seems that Google Maps App locates my position a lot faster than before.

Nothing else seems very different- which is fine. Hopefully Apple has found a way to fine-tune the existing firmware so that it works better and doesn't freeze up during, let's say, browsing the App Store.

Nevermind, just talked to a friend of mine who said that AT&T has something screwed up in their 3g signal that is causing oddities and they have to push out a new baseband to the towers.

I installed it and I didn't notice any difference in performance. SMS still lags using the keyboard. I get no 3g signal now when before I had 1 bar in my apartment. I guess thats a difference. Instead of just getting bent over ... now Steve shoved it in. Thanks. I wish I could downgrade my 3G iphone to 1.1.4. I never had issues with that build.

Bring on 2.1

Upgrade went smoothly but I don't notice any improvement on my 3G service or overall performance. 2 Bars as always with 5 on Edge and I'm in downtown Manhattan. I don't even bother with 3G at this point. Waiting for the 2.1 update coming sometime in September.

If there isn't any substantial improvement with the 2.1 update then I'll start to consider other options (such as an Android phone) and selling my iPhone.:(

I should have just stuck with my V.1 8GB iPhone. Sorry I sold it now.

Just got home from work to download this. YESS!

Hopefully it makes my iPhone SNAPPIER just like all of Apples past updates.

No but seriously, I'm just hoping for a lot more stable iPhone experience with less lag (which seems to occur randomly).

Still get contacts lag. No crashes yet, but I haven't used it much. Safari was crashing on me at least once a day, hopefully they fixed it a little.

People are expecting a world of change with .0.x updates. I wouldn't expect anything major until .1 is released. Even then, who knows how much better it will be. They may not get stuff ironed out until .2 or .3. It seems a lot of under the hood stuff was changed in 2.0, so it's an OS in early dev essentially. Give it time people, OS's aren't perfected in a month.

My 2g iphone took only 5 minutes to finish the update. Maybe because there wasn't an overflow of people downloading it?

New Release Tuesday

Mysterious update released late Monday spells new features released today!

How about itunes movie rentals directly from/to the iphone over wifi, just like music downloads? Or, maybe increased functionality for Remote.
