I'm not sure if anyone else had this experience but this is what happened to me:
I used installer.app a few days ago so I could see what all the fuss was about before it got disabled with this update. I tried several apps but I only left one row of apps on my phone.
Today, I updated the software and unlike the other reports I read, it did not make me restore my phone. It updated my phone perfectly. Obviously it did remove the 3rd party apps, but at least I didn't have to restore. I imagine my case was the exception to the norm.

allowed it. I really just want my phone to be perfect. I think the 3rd party apps is not bad compared to people unlocking the phone. What really bothers me are the people that are like "oh its Jobs master plan to have people unlock the iphone". No it's not. He is the CEO of a for-profit company. And his company is LEGALLY in a contract with AT&T. Although, I don't really mind when people unlock their phones - they just want to use it without being tied down with AT&T.
