Nice. My iPhone is being delivered this afternoon. I wonder if it'll already have 1.1.1 on it...

Just in case it doesn't, where's a link where I can just download the update from so that I don't have to wait for the 154mb download to finish after I've already got the iPhone?

I'm going to guess that your phone, which was probably shipped a couple days ago, which sat around in a warehouse for a couple more days, does not have a software update on it that was just released within the past hour.

Good questions.
What do we need to play video and can you plug into a tv with the red/yellow/white output cables?

Video out is great, but does it have to come out of the dock connector? Can you use a normal Apple iPod AV cable? (I realize this doesn't fit in the jack without modification...)

Also, the iPhone dock has a 1/8" output on it, but does that support video out using an iPod AV cable?

Just seeing if someone has the answers, otherwise I'll test it.

So the update did not include the international keyboard that is available on the touch - why not - does Apple not think of us who might SMS in other languages other than English this is so frustrating - and still no option of sending and SMS to multiple people - have we not been complaining about this since day 1.
Well I guess we just keep waiting.

I'm really sorry to hear that. For a company based in a country of immigrants, you'd think that international keyboards would be a priority - especially given that the touch has it already. Weird.

After looking over and examining this update, if I had to do it all over again, I'd hold off on the update until the 3rd party apps discovered a way to mod v. 1.1.1

I'm already suffering seperation anxiety from my ringtones, sounds, icons, etc,etc..

Does anyone have the OFFICIAL list of changes/upgrades/Etc. put in this update? I didnt see one. Usually in the other 2 updates it told you what was being done... this one I didnt see that.

Thanks.

No. The iPhone's headphone jack uses the extra pin for mic, so it's not available for video. Also, the video-out system has been improved to support component video.

Video is now dock-only.

I expect 3rd party video-out cables will show up soon. Apple's is nice but a bit overkill: it comes with a USB charger and the cord branches off to USB for the purpose. Nice for watching hours on TV I guess, but it makes a more complex and bulky cable. (Plus I'd want BOTH composite and component--and for now that means buying two kits and receiving two chargers. Overkill.)

I think we are going to need to purchase the new component cables that have that special chip in them. They hook up to the dock connector.

Look at post # 89

Interesting.
I wonder how my smaller size movies on the iphone would look on my 50" screen :)

TV-Out? Fantastic.

I will now buy an iPhone as soon as it's out. I love this feature on my current 5.5G iPod.

This is all so great though. A phone you can update! I mean my RAZR has an update button, but there's never an update released. Go Apple! Change that mobile market!

Happy with everything!

Would've liked to have had the ability to use the keyboard in landscape.

And for anyone tech-savvy, is it a difficult thing to add the option to SMS more than one person at a time? And to add Cut/Paste?

They just seem like standard functions on every handset I've had in the past, so I wonder why they're not there.

Are there extra Wallpapers? Looks like it to me but not sure...

I had Installer.app installed on my phone along with a few applications I'd installed via the program and I did a full restore this morning in anticipation of the update (that and after installing Navison and removing it Google Maps was doing some weird things).

I just installed the update and everything went smoothly. If the only applications you've installed have been via Insteller.app just do a restore before installing 1.1.1 and you'll be fine. FYI I had installed BlackJack, and had installed and removed both Navizon and the Doom demo.

I did have some trouble doing the restore though. iTunes couldn't "restore" my backed up settings back to the iPhone after the phone restore was complete. I had to tell iTunes it was a new phone. Once I did that it synced properly, but I lost my favorites, WiFi settings, etc. Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things. I don't know if that had anything to do with Installer.app or the other applications that I had installed with it.

I had restored the phone in the past before I installed Installer.app and didn't run into those problems then.

1.1.1 update

When i tried to run the installer.app installer again after the 1.1.1 update it hung.

resulted in having to do a restore on my phone. But that was successful.

:D wheeww

Under the settings for Safari what is this new Developer option? It says "Debug Console" and there is an on/off switch. Anyone?
