iTunes 7.4.3 is also out for the Mac now too. Oddly, not showing up in software update...
Here's the link for Mac:

EDIT: What the hell?? It says 7.4.3 on the page for Mac, but iTunes 7.4.2 is downloading?? Maybe still updating links and such...

Can someone (mod/admin) please explain why this post (mine) was deleted from page 3?

Loving my 3rd party apps too much to update

I assume this will break installer.app and all of the wonderful apps in Community Resources,
so I will wait until everything gets sorted out. I'm very interested to hear from the guinea pigs!!

Anyone with an unlocked phone tried the update?

There was a canadian guy here who reported that he updated his unlocked phone and everything was rosy. Let's hope we get more of those reports....even if the update itself is not that exciting IMO.

Well...

Update: Though it was hoped Apple would only be targeting SIM unlockers, the update is confirmed to have broken all 3rd party applications installed via Installer.app. Note that the iPhone will also re-activate itself after installation of the firmware.

That would hold me off updating even if I had a non-jailbroken iPhone... :(

And, I thought I read a post on one of the first two pages about someone that did got it to work??
I didn't believe it, and as I can't find that post, I assume it was removed..??
So that was probably some hoax to make more people try it, and brick the iPhone...

I'm glad they finally released an update, but I do wish they had fixed more of the existing software problems in lieu of adding new features.

So the update did not include the international keyboard that is available on the touch - why not - does Apple not think of us who might SMS in other languages other than English this is so frustrating - and still no option of sending and SMS to multiple people - have we not been complaining about this since day 1.
Well I guess we just keep waiting.

Yeah, I was looking for this too. I thought maybe I wasn't looking in the right location (though General > Keyboard seemed the logical place to me) but you've confirmed that it's not just me that can't find it. :(

Interesting, I haven't noticed this on all but the highest volume setting. I don't expect much from a tiny cell phone speaker as far as audio quality but I have mine at about 80% with no distortion. I think heavy bass is where the speaker craps out a bit. Me, I'm willing to part a bit with that to have a louder speakerphone for calls.

You appear to be correct. Songs without bass appear to be _decent_ as long as you don't have the volume maxed.

not that exciting but i have to say all of the changes are very welcome...
crazy that these modifications are 154MB...must be mostly the WiFi store.

Iphone update 1.1.1. hack Iphones!!!!!!!!!

if someone with apptapp installs can they post telling if it bricked or anything please... THANKS!!

I had apptapp on my iphone and after the update all it does is restore it back to factory stock :(

If and when iToner works with 1.1.1 I'm going to buy it.

Or maybe it would in fact be cheaper to buy them all on iTunes.... I guess it would.:)

I'm encouraged by the fact that they call this the "September Update" and not the "2007 update" or even "Fall Update."

Could this mean that they want to update us more often? Woo!:apple:

Just had a chance to test the louder speakerphone, works wonders..

still one simple fact of life, you can't upgrade the crappy speakers on the iPhone, but I guess it's nice to be able to hear people now :p

Good point.

Here is all I want in the "Oct. Update"

Because you called your fellow forum members 'guinea pigs'. It's offensive!

Nah... me thinks it was (maybe accidentally) removed as other posts were removed which implied someone successfully updating the firmware and being able to use Rogers in Canada.
Hoax.

MacRumors is being careful about letting fake posts exist. And very rightly so.

Maybe your post had a quote in it..?

I have a question

My music library and everything else is at home.
I am at work right now but i want to update
By me doing the update from work where i have no contacts music etc.

Will it delete everything i have on the iPhone Right now?
Or is it safe to update without worrying about loosing my
data?
Going to new york right after work dont have time to go home
thats why im asking.

Not too bothered...

BTW, I am not that disappointed that I can't update.

The new features aren't a must have.
I will happily use my SIM-free iPhone with all the 3rd party apps, until a known-good new Unlocker.app and Installer.app emerges.

The iPhone is absolutely brilliant as it is on firmware 1.0.2!

According to Apple tech support (I was already having problems with my iPhone) the 7.4.3 will be available via software update tomorrow. He is trying to figure out why it is downloading 7.4.2 from the iTunes page.

My phone is stuck on the power on screen (black background with silver apple) and has been since yesterday.
